Civilian/Pirate/Smuggler ship (withdrawn) - Druen78 - 07-28-2013

Ok, model and pics first:

How we could use it? Here's my crazy idea:

-Roughly the size of a GB
-A bit more armor than the armored transport
-Freighter or transport shield
-4 transport turrets, 2 fighter torpedo/rocket slots, CM, CD, mine
-1500 cargo capacity
-380 cruise speed (will outrun most ships but an interceptor will still be able to get it)

Basically, it would be a jack-of-all-trades that doesn't exactly excel in anything, and with the (limited) punch of the fighter torps it could cover the tole of a civilian GB, without actually giving civs a military grade GB.

Opinions?

EDIT: the opening post is obsolete, I'm not updating it because I'm witholding the ship design for a future shipline submission. You can find links to videos in the second page.

I'm not too fond of the texture job. I do like the slightly unorthodox role you have in mind for it. Given how it looks a little like an oversized Cutlass or whatever the hell that Outcast Bomber is called, try a Borderworlds-ish texture job?

I'm horrible at texturing. If the devs are interested in the model, though, I'm sure there's someone in the community who can do it.

Updated version - saved it separately, not sure if it's an evolution or a distinct version, I still don't have a clear idea of the final result.

Added a middle hull section, and two additional engines (not sure about those)

Looks better, much better.
Keep adding detail, smaller sections and so on, and you will end up with something unique and interesting.

Generic Frigate? Borderworlds Frigate?
Since the mod is lacking in them and stuff, would be nice to see something different from the others - like this suggestion

Why so many talks on frigates?

Because people want a capship without the commitment of a faction Tongue

Then midle transports will quickly perish in the shade of frighates (wich will be only twice as expencive).
