Nomads and Terran Radio Transmissions - NonSequitor - 08-18-2013

Is a Nomad vessel capable of detecting various radion transmissions from human space stations and vessels?

If the Nomad can detect a signal, is it possible for it to gradually learn how to understand the transmissions?

Just for clarification, I'm talking about a Nomad biovessel, not an infected human.

No-one can know for sure, but Id assume they're intelligent enough to reverse engineer such things from the stolen human tech, if they didnt already have them.

I think this would be theoretically possible, given that communications tech in Sirius can send signals at superluminal speeds.

For the most part, no. There's a reason we use infected humans to communicate when it's needed. Nomads cannot get little emails with a "1" in a circle to tell them or advertisements to try the new Sidewinder fang. Just doesn't work.

Miaou is correct.

Nomads cannot see radio waves, hear them, interface with them, there isn't much they can do.

For this reason, is why the Nomads cannot communicate with Artificial Intelligence shells. No emails for nomads~

They have to stick with using snail mail, delivered directly to Omicron Iota. Poor things.

Honestly it's more of a design decision really. Technically I don't think there is anything that really prevents them from doing so, but sometimes you do these kind of limitations on purpose to diversify roleplay methods. And that's really what it is, no more no less.

edit: Obviously infected people can operate necessary equipment, Scorpion gunboats too, being a mixture of technologies. For the sake of roleplay diversity we simply agreed that regular nomad ships don't.

It's just more interesting to have these sort of limitations and work around them to find solutions, like for instance how to communicate with AIs.

Lets open a Nomad and find out. Bc that's what humans do.

So, if the Nomads can't understand radio waves, how do they listen to the humans?

Sound sure doesn't propagate through space, so it can only be through their radio transmissions, I guess.

And if someone was about to say "they read their minds", how do they do that? Radio waves, probably.

Telepathy. They can read the thoughts of the humans, as its on the top of their head. Its not radio waves, I can only give a general overview, if you are interested in more information about how the Nomads do what (for ooc knowledge of course) Pass me a private message.
