Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 09-08-2013

Lee del Sol Verde at a bar on Planet Malta.

Who is he? Where did he come from? And what made him like this? Why?

One hears rumors. But one can't know nor disaprove them. And in the end, rumors don't care what's true. People tell rumors because often they're more exciting than the truth. While the truth is feared by many, it can be beautiful, without doubt, but so can be lies. Or rumors.

The Narcotic is a ship made of rumors. People remember Mon'Star The Red. People remember The Necrosis. Long gone, and they still fear it. People believe he returned. They say that he's the same person. But that's just another rumor.

An origin. A name. A being. "What is he?" People spread gossip about it faster than the speed of light. And yet, none does really know him. Does he?

This collection of rumors about The Narcotic, its captain and crew consists of people's quotes, experts' assumptions and rumors from the bar around the Milky Way's corner. From all over Sirius and beyond.

"He's like open space itself. Cold and lonely. Eating all the warmth and light, leaving nothing but void and insanity behind."
Unknown

"Between Freedom and Depedency, he found madness."
Melosa Sola, Lee's fiancée

// Do not post here without permission. Careful readers will surely note, that I use some of my other characters for the quotes. Call it 'masturbative roleplay' or just ask me to have your own rumors, told by your characters, added. And I will gladly accept them - in case I like/agree with them of course.

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 09-08-2013

Police and intelligence sources did identify The Narcotic's pilot as being maltese by origin. However, there's no entry of him in any of the houses criminal databases. But for one they're sure - he used to be an Outcast born on Malta.

"In early 818 AS I had the pleasure of meeting this Outcast-born Freelancer near Norfolk, with a Sabre named 'The Narcotic'. He asked for a permanent mooring point position for his equipment store he planned to run. To me he appeared to be a gentle business guy. If he's indeed the same person, there must have gone something very bad."
Major Mike Dave, Liberty Air Force

Home. Everyone has a place where they return to. Animals do. Humans do. Even aliens do. Whatsoever, people are unsure where The Narcotic's crew and captain's home is at. While Malta appears to be most of theirs birthplace, the ship has already been sighted in all across Sirius. Different places which are lightyears away from the Omicrons. Though, it's very likely that the ship itself serves as their only true home.

"Master is not at home."
Shodan, The Narcotic's AI

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 09-10-2013

The Narcotic has rarely been seen being involved in piracy attempts. And still, none has an idea how he earns his livelihood if not with illegal methods. A simple Freelancer could never afford to maintain a battlecruiser sized vessel on his own. Rumors say that he once inherited his whole family's savings, and that he successfully ran an equimpent store in New York. Apparently he had earned lots of billions with it.

"The only thing I know about him is, that he doesn't care much for wealth and material things. Other than that dirty pirate scum you see on a daily basis - The Narcotic's captain seems to be keen on more valuable things than just credits. Eventhough his demands may often sound unreasonable and sick - he's no murderer or thief, but totally driven by madness."
Nick Newport, Bowex Colonial Authority Department Manager

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 09-11-2013

Good or bad. Human or alien. Lawful or unlawful. It's all just a matter of one's point of view. And often confusing situations end in deadly misunderstandings. Space is indeed dangerous. And so it makes no difference whether one encounters a mystic nomad, a corrupt police officer or The Narcotic. There's always a risk of finding one's grave amongst his ship's debris, when you leave a planetary docking ring or a station's safe docking bays. Death surrounds us at all times.

"We've no clue about its reputation, aims and purpose - however experience has thought me, that even your archenemy can become your friend. Yet I haven't found a logical reason to put The Narcotic on Rheinland's blacklist. No doubt that its force is a potential danger. Though, it's easier to tame wild animals, putting them into good use, instead of destroying them. I don't fear him. Once I've even escorted it through Stuttgart. And who knows - one day he might recognize our 'friendship' and offers his service to the Vaterland. Maybe things would have gone different in the war then. I'm just thinking practically."
Feldwebel Sarah Braun, Rheinland Military

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 09-15-2013

It got assumed, that its pilot is obsessed by the Nomads or occupied by the ancient Daam K'Vosh who use his broken soul as destructive tool for their unkown aims. Reason for this assumption was, that he appeared to be given the gift of reading human's minds for getting an advantage over them in combat situations and gathering of secret informations. Furthermore, survivors did tell about his vessel sometimes being accompanied by alien vessels who didn't meant any harm to it.

"It just stood there, swarmed by them blue phantoms. So I tried to contact its owner to offer my help. But he was lost already. And so would I have been, if I weren't flying my beloved Arrow."
Hobin Rood, Freelancer

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 09-16-2013

Experts say, that The Narcotic is unmanned and completely maintained by a remarkable artificial intelligence. The way the ship fights and how it flows through asteroid and debris fields leave no option of it being controlled by hand. No human being could fly a battlecruiser sized vessel like The Narcotic does. Thanks to its sensitive weapon systems, manoeuvrability, speed and cloaking device - it appears impossible to be beaten or captured. Even skilled admirals and bomber aces seek distance to this lethal death machine - or at least try to stay on friendly terms with it - as long as it may last.

"The OCV Sefegiru is twice as large as this thing - so I thought it to be a good idea to fight it before the bomber support arrives. Having the honor to claim his head all alone. Mistake done. The carrier and half its crew dead or captured. I probably will never have good ideas again in my life."
Colonel William Callhoun, The Order

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 10-04-2013

As the saying goes; one can only know someone if he has seen his true face. Despise of people's imaginations and fanciful descriptions, the owner of The Narcotic is said to be human, naturally having a human face. However, not many seem to have really seen it due to his maskage. Apparently, he only shows it to those who deserve it - those he does trust. If anyone at all.

"Yeah, he definitely has one. Though, only the dead and those 'worth living' may get to know him personally. Correct, he does indeed reveal his face to his dying victims. Lovely curelty."
Clyde Johnson, Liberty Rogue Consigliere

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 02-04-2014

In rare cases of its pilot visiting public places like bars, all spots of his body - if there even is anything organic on him - are perfectly covered. His face, hidden behind a flat helmet with dark visor and his body embraced by a large black coat. People described him as a ghost-like shape wandering with inhuman steps and a voice that seems to freeze the air surrounding him. He never wastes any words and often appears to know what people want to say before they actually sait it. As if he reads their mind like an open book. Another often undiscovered detail is, that even though he is said to be maltese by origin, who are known to be dependant to the addictive substance known as "Cardamine", he does not seem to wear a rebreather.

"His appearance reminds me of a cyborg. Standing near him, one feels his dead aura - cold as space itself. However, most of it is just maskage - a wall he had built to hide behind. To hide from whatever may trouble him. Oh, I bet there's an interesting story about him, but surely he doesn't talk about it to anyone. What actually suprises me, because in truth he can be a talksome fellow... at times."
Dr. Janice Polito, Lane Hacker

RE: Rumors about The Narcotic - Narcotic - 02-09-2014

The Narcotic is often confused with being "The Necrosis Prime" - the infamous terrorizing warmachine of Mon'Star the Red. In the beginning, people feared his return since he mysteriously disappeared years ago. Obviously, The Narcotic's captain has either somehow copied its design, got his hands on the - said to be non-exisiting construction plans, or we are talking about the real Necrosis here. Even though it is no perfect duplicate, but rather being inspired by the original design - one can only guess the connection, as its resemblance is truly remarkable.

"What a disappointment. I eagerly hoped for Mon'Star's comeback. Then it turned out, that some fameless freak copied the dreaded Necrosis. How to call that - "The Necrosis Secunde"? What a poor fool."
