Social Experiment: Removing Mines - Soul Reaper - 09-11-2013

Before I start, note that this isn't a request to devs/admins or anything, it's just all theoretical.

It's a fact that any good pvper on disco will down anything average or below (which is most of the server population). The only -real- way for an average disco pilot to take down one of our "good pilots" is by nukes (yes I know there are torps and stuff, but nukes are used by everyone), since there's an extreme different in skill between an average disco fighter pilot and someone above that.

Remove mines. (Mainly nukes)

What I theorize would happen, is that most people on disco would start hating pvp even more, simply because without mines, the majority of disco people lose their main damage source. So all real combat would be left to those that are good at the other (real) aspects of fighter combat.

Which means mercs would become a bit of a rarity, but you'd know they're probably good at it and will kill anything. Same goes for military-based factions.

What do you think?

What is so social about that?...

Although removing nukes and just having Screamers would be cool, there wouldn't be any RP improvement. All I can see habbending is some people who go around nukespamming would quit Disco because they aren't pr0 anymore

People's reaction to the theory of course, and to see what they have to say about it.

And the title made me think that disco is going to become a players' self-management community.

As the member of the non-skilled group I find this proposal extremely harrowing and borderline insane. (Not quite, but exaggerations are cool.)

Now that I think on it, that would be an improvement

Too bad I already voted zzzzz

No.

Just No.

I believe this is a bit of a stretch but i'll go with Yes. What you say is mainly true... though the issue is that removing mines would (in my view) be only a part of the changes necessary to actually improve the RP and still create a certain balance in PvP.

Of course, a different course of action would be to modify mines into something less deadly.

They're a valid tactic if you're not a wonderful person in combat and spam 3 on every pass.

Sure it would teach you to aim but then...you could just turn off your mine hotkey and do it that way.

I vote yes even though I am bad pvper
