Apology and explanation to the community from the DPC - Tertiary - 09-13-2013

Hello Discovery. This is Doj.

It's been a while now since the DPC was brought into the spotlights as some kind of underground misanthropic mafia determined to destroy the server, and I figure I would shed some light on the whole situation to clear up slight misunderstandings and hand you a well meant apology for dragging you all into this.

Every DPC member has its own reason to behave like they do, some more logical and understandable as others, but it varies per person. We don't really care why; in the end we just play this game as a group having idiotic and sadistic fun at the expense of others. This isn't anything personal, and we aren't out to destroy the server at all. We enjoy playing here, albeit to the extend we can since a lot of us are banned.

It has come to our attention that our mischief is, in fact, being harmful to the server, and edging it closer and closer to the edge of a canyon. We've expected this to happen, but didn't care much for it as there is always other servers we can later visit, since this server isn't the be all and end all of Freelancer.

This combined with numerous outcries for a desperate solution to a vicious cycle, seemingly endless in nature, convinced me to extend my hand (once again) towards the administrator team in an effort to reach a mutual agreement that works best in the benefit of the DPC, the administrators and most importantly the community that allows this server to be. This is the origin of this post.

We feel sorry for your inability to enjoy playing on this server the way you once could, in the fear that at any time a Surveyor with station turrets might show up and ruin any size of player interaction you're participating in.

We apologise for our rebellious natures, and we apologise for resorting to not following rules after we got permbanned. We're unfortunately not Paladins, and don't hold such virtues to heart, and instead just take what's thrown at us. It goes without saying that, in the event we're able to play regularly, we won't be needing to behave like we currently are. While some bans were justified by all means, all of them were long ago, and times change enough for us to be able to not repeat the mistakes we made.

We also apologise to the admin team for putting strain on their nerves and adding tons more workload to their already high stacks of responsibility. I've had experience in an administrative position before, I understand the work that comes with it.

It's worth noting that this is the first (and probably only) official attempt at "diplomacy" attempted by the DPC, representing the DPC and all its members combined. Any comments you may have heard from admins claiming they already tried talking their way to a peaceful solution is, unfortunately, either lies or them being misinformed.

You may contact me on my Skype account *snip* or Matt/Máté's Skype account *snip again* if you wish to have any questions answered (I don't care who you are, you're free to ask), or in the case you're an administrator or represent a decision they might make, you may contact me to move on to step two of once and for all letting bygones be bygones.

Notice for potential triggerhappy moderators administrators before they delete/hide this thread; a post of this nature was requested by Brad. Also, congratulations on whoever made the staff team thusfar.

Widow's edit:

* Skype info has been removed due to something about getting peoples IPs from skype details and attempting to do all sorts of nasty stuff.

Funny how this thread pops up the moment you bunch hear about the new anticheat update.

Nice try.

Fun fact number 2: This kind of thread has happened not too long ago, and it was an attempt that we took more seriously than this one (woe be upon us for making that mistake). I would say the "tit for tat" game applies, wherein we trusted you once and it backfired, so we'd be really stupid to let you back in again. So as said above:
