i have noticed a few small changes to pre-existing ships, like the coalition's Storm gunship, to my knowledge the engines are slightly different now, and the LAC has a all new look, i think a couple of the LR ships have been modified too.

No, none. However Cassini received an overhaul I heard.
And if you want to see which ships got modified/exchanged with new models - check the readme.txt changelog.

You can check these new ship models in singleplayer mode with a save file editor, or go to server Discovery of Dicovery for quick look.
