Groundfighting on Leeds - Caconym - 09-23-2013

Guillaume De Reims was mad. VERY mad. He had just been shot in the chest by a Bretonian he had chosen to leave alive. He looked at the Bretonian soldier, a couple meters away, breathing heavily. The shot had hit him in the chest, right over his heart. The Bretonian looked triumphant, having shot a Gallic Shock Troop captain. However, he had not expected the apparent unarmored Gallic to be still alive when his head exploded after Guillaume shot him with a plasma pistol.
Guillaume holstered his firearm and checked his suit's systems. The "Ombre" suit was a masterpiece of Gallic engineering. It looked like an old diving suit, without the mask and air containers, and barely visible lines along the limbs, with circles around the articulations; only the shoes looked heavy and powerful, along with a small, angular pack on the back. But it was more dangerous than a full battle armor. First, the suit had a powerful molecular shield in the backpack; there was a small antimatter reactor there as well, to give the suit energy. The suit also had an anti-gravity unit to allow the user to fly; if that failed, there were small plasma engines in the boots. The suit was powered, meaning that it gave the user a massive amount of strength, meaning he/she could punch through a transport's hull if needed. But of course there was the alternative of using the built-in laser cannons on each arm to simply melt your way through. Or redirect the plasma from the boots using the field generator. Or just cloaking and sneaking in.The possibilities were almost endless.

Guillaume looked up at the sky. He could barely see the RNS-Poseidon on his HUD, climbing up and away after wasting a Bretonian cruiser which had hidden in the atmosphere, and dropping him and his platoon of Marines to the ground to secure the small industrial complex a few hundred meter away. The RNS-Poseidon was a Valor-class battleship, commanded by his brother, Francois De Reims. Guillaume watched as the distance indicator on his HUD showed that the massive Battleship was heading away.
«Tans pis (whatever)». He then activated his anti-grav unit, and took off to oversee the plain where his marine platoon stood, 500 men in full battle armor ("Ombre" suits were very expensive, so only for officers, but the Marine’s battle armor was just as efficient, apart from the fact that it was heavier and allowed for less agility). He then told the platoon by radio to take off and start searching for hostiles and securing the zone.
