Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - wintercross - 09-26-2013 My name is Eli (AKA Wintercross) I'm currently working on a Freelancer mod for the RTS/4X game 'Sins of a Solar Empire' I'm hoping that I could arrange permission to use some of the Discovery mod assets, (mainly the ship models that fit the original factions) to help fill out my ship rosters. Being as the mod is for a RTS/4X hybrid it isn't in competition with your Freelancer mod. The mods name is 'Sins of the Sirius Sector' and you can see it's ModDB page here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-the-sirius-sector I would include all expected credits to the team/creators of any meshes I am allowed to use and also link back to the Discovery mod. Thanks in advance! RE: Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - a7om - 09-26-2013 ooooh. i'll be watching this mod sounds like a really cool idea RE: Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - Echo 7-7 - 09-26-2013 Which assets specifically? I think we actually received your request in a different form of communication some time ago but did not get around to responding. It's unlikely that we'd grant permission for models given specifically to us without the consent of the original creator. RE: Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - wintercross - 09-26-2013 Well, I am interested in the ships of the four houses, the Bounty Hunter Capital ships and some of the larger unlawfuls like Corsair, Blood Dragons etc. Mostly it's the freighters and capital class ships I'm interested in, however there are a few excellent fighter/bomber models for the houses I would love to use. If we're talking about actual individual ships I could write up a wishlist. RE: Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - Echo 7-7 - 09-26-2013 (09-26-2013, 04:52 AM)wintercross Wrote: ... You would need to be specific. RE: Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - Durandal - 09-26-2013 The Corsair and Blood Dragon caps were made by Angel of Mercy, who is now gone. The Zoner caps were made by Jinx, the Gallic caps by Doom, the Outcast caps by Eppy, and so on and so forth. There isn't one guy who does all the models for Discovery, so you'd need to be specific as to which. All right, here is a specific list of the ships I would like to use This is based on the current wiki and older versions of the mod I've played (haven't played the latest yet) It's a bit of a list I guess but being that the mod is a real time strategy, a variety of ships for each faction is desirable. As per agreement with Igiss - modellers agreed to offer their work to DiscoveryGC and the mod process. They did not agree to allow their creative works to be distributed by DiscoveryGC or its staff. So outside of DiscoveryGC, their work remains their creative property unless they agree to share it. With that said, it is still unlikely that they do care even if used without their knowledge - but DiscoveryGC would most probably not take responsibility for that act. RE: Request to Discovery Devs + Contributors - Omicron - 09-27-2013 Looks like Freelancer Discovery RTS edition. Too bad I dont think Sins could handle so many systems we've got here. |
