Diamond/Niobium again.. - Crassus - 07-20-2008 I get the impression this subject has been done to death but I missed most of it and I'm still learning. Is it the route, the use of jumpholes (especially sigma13/NB) Chugoku and Hokkaido that's the problem or is it a Rheinland?Kusari thing ( I thought they were at peace) or is it the commodities themselves? or a combination of all three. Thanks. Diamond/Niobium again.. - Tenacity - 07-20-2008 it's the jump holes. Think of it this way... Cargo transport captains have to keep the safety of their crew, ship, and cargo above all other things as a priority. No transport captain would risk going through: a) an unstable, unsafe jump hole and b) two systems full to the brim with pirates and terrorists just to make a 'shortcut' for their shipment. It's absolutely fine to trade diamonds/niobium through honshu to new tokyo or kyushu. Just dont use jump holes or go through chugoku/hokkaido. Diamond/Niobium again.. - El Nino - 07-20-2008 The only problem really are the jumpholes... Sigma 13/Berlin, and then the Choguku and Hokkaido, are really out of the option... On the side note, I've managed to get about 400M with piracy on the dimond niobium run. At times, my mare presence would ward of traders from this "oorp" route... If anyone wants to as much as lift a word against the oorpnes of the route... just send your pirate there (if it is appropriate) and tax the traders to ruins... Diamond/Niobium again.. - Crassus - 07-20-2008 Thought it was that, just wanted to be sure. And I have never done that route but I am trading between Rheinland and Kusari currently in a Whale which I don't think should ever see a jump hole in its life, I can't help noticing there are a lot of people who are still doing THAT route despite being advised to stop because of a lost cargo bug, in fact there was a player (can't remember who) camped at Akita a couple of days ago criticising traders who came by (including me) for having diamonds or niobium on board which struck me as odd since they must have rejected the sigma/chugoku jumphole in favour of trade lanes or they wouldn't be at Akita in the first place. Diamond/Niobium again.. - Stucuk - 07-21-2008 ' Wrote:No transport captain would risk going through: Jumpholes are stable(Otherwise priates would never use them as they would die too much since there home systems are generaly found only via jumpholes). The risk is that pirates are generaly near them, not that they are prone to collapsing (Which doesn't happen). Diamond/Niobium again.. - Blodo - 07-21-2008 By unstable jump holes he meant that in RP these jump holes can only safely allow fighters through. All bigger ships are in danger of collapsing the jump hole and never finding their way to the other side. Diamond/Niobium again.. - Stucuk - 07-21-2008 Then how do pirates get transports through there jumpholes to supply there bases? Alot of pirates HAVE to go through jumpholes to get around there systems(Corsairs/Outcasts for example) as there isn't any JumpGates. If there transports can safely (They wouldn't fly through a jumphole if it wasn't safe) then why can't non pirates? You can't supply goods to planets without a transport so ur not going to have pirates supplying there bases with Fighters. Diamond/Niobium again.. - Jinx - 07-21-2008 there is nothing wrong with niobium / berlin. - the route is sufficiently long enough - if traders fly through: - kyushu > new tokyo > honshu > sigma-13 > frankfurt > new berlin - that is the official traders route. - it only becomes ooRP when they use the shortcut through chogoku. the choice is a bit like that "you can safe a few minutes, but you are likely to get killed, raped, skinned and have your intrails spread around in space as a testament of your folly - and if you re lucky, ... in that order. .... or you fly the official route and your life is safe cause there is the military and the police guarding over the lanes" so, what trader would choose option one. Diamond/Niobium again.. - Turkish - 07-21-2008 Think less about the actual stability and practicality of a jump hole, think more about Ageria's profit margins. Currently they posses all knowledge and technology along with DSE and a few smaller companies that are interconnected regarding Jump Gates and Trade-Lanes, they license this technology to the Houses for large sums of money. Chances are they figured out long ago that Jump Holes are stable, but if they say there what happens to their money? What happens to their contracts? What happens to the new Jump Gates? Its not in their best interest to publicise the existence and stability of Jump Holes, it would put them out of business. Diamond/Niobium again.. - ScornStar - 07-21-2008 I am under the impression that JH instability is only a sort of warning designed to warn people into realizeing the "value" of Algeria tech. I think it is only propaganda. Other wise all the pirate factions would be screwed. Not to mention factions like the IMG who rely on Jump holes to move their mined goods from places like Taus. or all Guard systems for that matter. Plus it is not unheard of for captains to push the limit with nature. Watch the perfect storm based on a true story. JH are fine but you will likely encounter pirates on the route or worse the Wilde. but the whole jump hole being unsafe thing, bull. Just another corrupt Liberty corp spreading rumors to increase thier profits. Sort of like modern medicine saying syntheticlly produced marajuana pills are better for patients who need them, than what nature put here for the injured and ill. Plus by "convinceing" people to use the Jump gates and not hole it lets the government monitor traffic better. And Im sure keep tabs. They probally also transmitt commercials through the tradelanes into our ships as well. The jump hole I would argue are not ooRP, but if you go through Dragon space for instance, and some how the NPCs are not tearing you up then you are probally exploiting something ooRP. The DRagons are not keen on foriegn traders I believe. Turkish was typeing too, just saw it. What he said i second. |
