Rollback now? Back to 4.86 and start a beta test server too? A poll. - William Frederick Cody - 10-09-2013

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Our home - sirius sector, as we know it - is in danger. These days, the number of players on the server is very low. And it subsides week after week. Also: We have no newbies currently, if those newbies are clever. If they are not clever, we have some very dosappointed newbies after the rollback.

That is not funny.

Not to mention, that you can although discover something, but nothing you can add to your nav map. Roleplay not to mention. It smells, as it is "not real" inRP. For some minutes, I really thought to give all my stuff away for free - just for fun. Some hours later I thought how it would violate RP in general. It feels like "there are no consequences for what I do.

This is not amusing.

We need a better promotion, to re-activate players, and get fresh blood. It will be not that easy, to went back to an average of 60 or 120 players. This game is nearly 10 years old. It may die quick, if the testing will need too many time. I really hope the best, but to be honest, I fear the worst.

So - dear community members, moderators, developers and admins - my idea is as follows:

1. Rollback to 4.86 now, today, tommorow or in some few days on the official server.
2. Installing a second server, a beta test server for 4.87.

What do you think? Stay polite with your comments.

Thanks in advance for voting, ladies and gentlemen.

tl;dr

Disco is in danger because of low player number.
Solution: Open a second server for beta testing.
Rollback back to 4.86 on the official server.
Vote!

This is not gonna happen.

Feel free to knock yourselves out voting otherwise though.

Should be read as:
Quote:Noone wants do deliver me DEFILERs, and even if someone will, there's no point, cause there will be rollback

Just take a break if you cannot find anything to do at the moment. And return when everything is up again.

However, it would make more sense if more people actually tested things to find the mistakes because if you keep track of the bug reports, more and more get the "done" edit by Devs and things seem to be going into the right direction.

Patience. That's the solution.

Like the devs don't have enough to do? Yeah, the notion of a rollback caught me by surprise, but it makes sense. (Perhaps an occasional onscreen announcement so newbies don't panic?)

Still, I'm having a blast with the beta cash and exploring the changes. And I'll have just as much fun when it get's rolled back, because the fun is in getting there. I went away for the better part of a year (pirates burned me out) and when I came back again, all my ships were gone. I'm having a blast getting them back.

I agree attendance is fading, but I don't think it's 'beta fear'.
