Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Euca - 10-10-2013 Ok, so basically I had an idea for a faction, but really wanted to have a detailed document to represent it and show what they stand for and what they do and what not. I have it all written up but would love some feedback and recommendations: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EG0dtjm_OmfFOXmeZu7oO0hYrvwqcNbUCKMiZo49eZA/ Thankyou for your time! RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Jonas Valent - 10-10-2013 Well ill give you credit for the effort. As a member of GRN cant say I support an organization that's stated goal is the overthrow of all monarchies though. RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Sabru - 10-10-2013 Credit for the effort as well. however you say that you use Zoner IFF and FL ID. FL ID does not allow caps. also, the whale is RESTRICTED to ZONERS ONLY. so are you guys going to run two IDs? RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Arioch - 10-10-2013 For a group that wants to do a lot of military movement/it's primary goal is to overthrow monarchies, using the two ID's/IFF's that forbid offensive actions doesn't make any sense to me. ...Unless you plan to go into Gallia/other houses and hope someone shoots you, THEN monologue that you're there to overthrow the monarchies. Also, Freeport 10 is administered/home to The Commonwealth. Pretty sure they would have something to say about you being there/using that as your home. RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Euca - 10-10-2013 Hrm, I'll update the IFF + ID and Zoner Whale things then. EDIT: We aren't at war with Gallia and Bretonia, only hostile. We wouldn't invade them without a proper ID, yes, but we really only want to ensure that their downfall occurs (a.k.a helping their enemies and such). Still changing the ID anyways though. RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Thyrzul - 10-10-2013 Why is the opposition with the SCRA? You pretty much seem to want to do the same. RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Euca - 10-10-2013 Yeah I guess we do, but the SCRA| want the collapse of the Houses, we just want to see Monarchies destroyed and replaced really. But perhaps Hostile is a bit too much @Drrobe: Damn, Freeport 10 was prime! Nah, Freeport 10 wasn't really all that necessary, but rather more an option for 'Haulers' to expand for. RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Omicron - 10-10-2013 Well thought IMO, it has more sensible and realistic background that pops around. I believe you will have a problem with finding a way to engage your targets given FL ID needs to be hired by someone first. RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Eduard - 10-10-2013 Well, I guess Pirate ID would be best fitted for such an errand considering you want to actively oppose monarchies. Freelancer ID could also be a choice but that would restrict you into either allying with one of the monarchies ( to be able to oppose the other ) or be hired ( supported/funded ) by third parties hostile to the monarchies. ( which in my opinion, makes sense, as such a group you described, doesn't survive without any help/funds from third parties. ( from an ooRP point of view, you need to be hired as a freelancer in order to kill something ) And regarding Freeport 10, as the leader of the Commonwealth, who's home is the Freeport 10, I can say that considering your goals, the active presence you plan to make, centered around Freeport 10, won't be very... uum... appealing if you can say that. I'd actually suggest you move the Freeport 10 ideas into Tau-29. Your goals/actions can make the Commonwealth distrust you considering its interests, especially considering the fact that you can ( indirectly ) drag itself in the ruckus you cause by making active use of Freeport 10, which is something the Commonwealth won't accept. However, as the name specifies, it is still a Freeport and it acts like the Freeport, I just said it so you'd be weary of it's ( inRP ) owners and what consequences could happen considering the course of actions you specified for your faction. Speaking of Tau-29... You mentioned Freeport 6 is opened to UCEL Operations. Now, I'd suggest you first and foremost clear this up from an inRP point of view before claiming it in a such direct manner as it could lead to eventual misunderstanding and possibly QQ, just a warning. Changing the statement to a desire like " The UCEL plans to use the Freeport 6 as a base of Operations " would be more appropriate until then. Also, before I continue I'd like to leave a suggestion: Courtesy goes a long way ( No, I am not attempting an insult or trying to emphasize a mistake of yours if you thought that, it is just a suggestion for the future. Mainly because both inRP and ooRP courtesy is a variable that keeps a faction out of ooRP QQ as far as I am aware ) But, it's nice to see an anti-monarchist faction, though I have a personal distaste for anything communist related, I appreciate the notion of attempting to do something different than the SCRA. Another suggestion: There are countless other political ideologies that oppose monarchy ( or conflict with ) just as good as communism, perhaps you may find a more fitting one to your faction in time. More suggestions: I wouldn't use the Zoner IFF if I were you, considering your hostile nature ( do correct me if I am wrong ) since the Zoner IFF states an entirely opposite idea, and it can lead to more misconceptions regarding the zoner lore ( and it's not like we don't have enough already ) Moreover, I wouldn't list the Zoners ( global connotation ) as allied, especially since Zoners are very decentralized, each group has more or less radical different ideologies and as such, it may view your faction differently. I'd take the time to survey the more notable zoner factions and count my faction's diplomatic standing with each zoner faction individually. I'd also get rid of the Recruit ID from your chart. I personally don't think one can use the Recruit ID for a notable period. This are all nothing but my opinions, ideas and suggestions. They are not meant to be offensive but helpful and suggestive. It's always good to see new factions created on Disco, and moreover, it's even better to see that they actually turn into something, and not deprave themselves into corrupted spawns of lolwut fests with little to no idea on how to conduct their RP PS: I just noticed your Edit directed at Drrobe, regarding FP10 used for a possible trade expansion point for your haulers... If that is the final ideas regarding your FP10, I kind of draw back all I said regarding FP10. Still, I am looking forward to be RPing with you if you have anything in mind concerning FP10 RE: Feedback for an faction-to-be? - Remnant - 10-10-2013 Overall, this faction seems to have a little more 'sense' in it, a goal which sounds like isn't just one of those standard fillers which provides reason why 'we exist'. I question why you have noted the Zoner IFF, Zoners tend to keep to themselves, at least they should in my opinion. Goals don't really fit that too much, but the Freelancer ID doesn't have too much of an issue there. Engagements will be an issue. I believe this was brought up earlier, but Freelancers cannot necessarily just 'fire at will', there needs to be a reason beforehand. Though there are not too many other ID's which may work other than the.. Terrorist ID? A little far seeing that would bring up some issues with your lore though. Anyways, put it through some refinement, I could see a turnout of sorts. Pay attention to the few people who have experience who drop posts, and see what you can turn out. Good luck. |
