Character auto-deletion and the rollback - Error - 10-13-2013

Hi! Would anybody - possibly from the administration team - happen to know if there's a plan for characters that are due to expire after not having been logged in for half a year during the rollback period? One can obviously not log them to prevent this right now, due to the player character database rollback, so will there possibly be an extension of some kind?

PS: Unless the character auto-deletion script doesn't work like I think it does at all, of course, and still works like it normally would despite the rollback. I'd presume that it looks at the soon-to-be reverted player database, but I don't actually know that for sure.

Any characters that were wiped after the date to which the db will be restored will be present. Means you effectively don't need to worry about refreshing until the rollback.

Yes, of course they'll be present, but what I'm more worried about (which was perhaps somewhat unclear from my first post) is for how long they'll remain present. How much time would we have after the rollback to log our characters? Wouldn't the character deletion script still note that they haven't been logged since over half a year prior and delete them as soon as the script runs for the first time after the rollback?

PS: Thanks for the quick reply, by the way.

Good point.

I'll disable the inactivity wipe for a week or two after the rollback hits, to make sure no chars get wiped early. That's more than enough time for people with inactive chars to refresh them and make sure they're safe and won't be gone for at least another half a year.

Suggestion:

Is it not possible to add an inactivity timer, or some way for users to check the inactivity of a certain character? Like FLHook command that displays the time remaining to inactivity deletion for the character whose name you entered. Or a searchable database here on the Forum, like the player base list (of course not with a full list).

There's already a plugin in the work to show you the last online time and date of your character when you log in, however, since it's way down the priority list when it comes to hook plugin updates, don't expect to see it on the server anytime soon.

There used to be a player activity www page similar to the faction one. Is it possible to reinstate that or was it a problem due to ddos attacks?

Many thanks for the clarification! That saves me from worrying any more about a few characters that I've got on hold and my small heap of spare ships.

You're probably better off creating a new thread for that request, to be honest, as it is pretty far off from the original thread topic.
