The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Sarawr!? - 10-22-2013 //I am aware of the recent uptick in Blood Dragon spinoff factions, it is not my intention to create a "Clone faction", or to step on any toes, or to screw up the work of other groups that exist currently. With the recent change in rules regarding ID's per faction, there is room for all of us, at least I think, and I do not intend to "Powergame my way to the top", or claim to represent the entire NPC faction or any of that, so please don't be alarmed, also, your feedback is welcome. History of The Katsuragi Clan
The Katsuragi Clan has existed since at least 702 A.S, although very little is known about the clan during that time period. This lack of knowledge is exacerbated further by the desire of the Clan's original leadership to remain anonymous, which of course has spawned many rumors in some circles. Some believe the clan was originally formed by Imperial Kusari Navy officers who had grown increasingly disillusioned with the state of Kusari under the Emperor. Still others believe the original "Shogun" to have been a wealthy farmer from Kyushu who had simply read too many history books and decided that he should try to "live as his ancestors". This line is commonly used by "ally" and enemy alike to insult and discredit members of the Katsuragi family.
The Katsuragi Clan enjoyed only a meager standing within Blood Dragon affairs for over a century, due to their inability to provide proof of a blood-link to the Hideyoshi family. Despite this, Katsuragi Yusuke, the most recent leader of the Clan was able to make a name for himself and the Clan, as "Defenders of the Kusari People", during the "First Nomad War". With the establishment of the Rising Sons Movement in 815 A.S., Katsuragi Yusuke saw an unprecedented opportunity to unite the Blood Dragons under one banner, and bring forth the establishment of a Kusari that would espouse the same values held dear by The Shogunate of Kusari's past, and would allow Kusari to truly stand on it's feet again, without the treachery of an Emperor who sells his nation to the lowest bidder, and without the oppressive nature of foreign governments in dealing with Kusari and her citizens. It was with that in mind, that Yusuke immediately threw in with the Rising Sons, supporting them quietly with monetary tribute and soldiers, until their dissolution. With the dissolution of the Rising Sons Movement, and splintering of the various Blood Dragon Clans, Shogun Yusuke again saw opportunity in the wake of the power vacuum that was created, this time however the gains would be for family and self. When the Dragons fractured, Yusuke made a point of reaching out to his personal friends and clan allies, in an attempt to keep at least some of the Dragons under his unified banner. Some other idealistic Daimyo and "military" commanders were keen to listen to Yusuke's words, seeing that the benefits of continuing a "Unified Blood Dragon Shogunate" would be far better for The Kusari People, than for the Blood Dragon Cause to splinter and fall into disarray. While Yusuke did not attempt to dissuade the larger Dragon Clans (Hojo, Watanabe Kazoku) from pursuing their own agendas, he did make a point to actively absorb smaller, less powerful, lesser known clans, into his domain, thusly strengthening the position of Clan Katsuragi, and allowing for the establishment of the "Katsuragi Shogunate" as of 819A.S. Katsuragi Yusuke has credited the successes of the "Army of the Katsuragi Shogunate" in recent history, to the dedication and discipline of his soldiers, as well as the strict "Traditional" training regiment followed by all aspiring "Katsuragi Dragons". Each warrior above the rank of Ashigaru undergoes such in depth training and meditation on Budō (Martial Ways) and Bushidō (The Way of The Warrior) that the concepts become a part of the individual, and they begin to see themselves similar to the fabled "Samurai" of ancient legend. In addition, Katsuragi Dragons are given basic firearms training and spend many hours practicing flight combat maneuvers in small-craft, and many more in flight simulators. In combat situations, "Katsuragi Dragons" are known to act more like professional soldiers than terrorists, though their methods are still regarded as "extreme", and little mercy is shown to enemy soldiers or anyone not loyal to their cause. Another hallmark of Katsuragi War Strategy is that instead of subterfuge and striking from the shadows, the Katsuragi Dragons operate as a paramilitary force, preferring instead to engage their enemies in open and coordinated combat, often without regard for the size of an enemy force. While some outsiders have said that "Katsuragi Dragons" appear to show more respect and adherence to the "traditional warrior ways" than some other Dragons, Shogun Katsuragi Yusuke has become known as quite the "Social Liberal", due to his practice of allowing women into positions of power, or to serve in the "Katsuragi Dragons". Some speculate this is a political move by Yusuke to prepare his people for a time when his daughter, Katsuragi Motoko might take over leadership of the clan, though no comment has been made to that end. Starting in late 819, rumors began to circulate that Katsuragi Yusuke's "Katsuragi Castle", a pilfered Geisha Yacht belonging to the Katsuragi Family, had been spotted drifting in the oceans of Planet Honshu. As the ship's name implies, it is used as the home of the actual Katsuragi Family, and their government. The ship itself has not been seen in space for decades, and what little factual information that exists about it, suggests that it's spacefaring capabilities were removed in order to make long-term oceanic travel a possibility. The ship is also fitted with expanded living quarters and a fully functioning Dojo, presumably for use by the "Shogun's" own Elite Guard. Finally, it's believed that "Katsuragi Castle" is outfitted with extensive communications equipment, which are used to broadcast orders and messages to "Katsuragi Dragons" and the various Daimyo loyal to Clan Katsuragi, throughout Kusari space, either directly or by leeching off local satellites. Objectives 1. The Katsuragi Bakufu seeks to establish, or help establish a Neo-Shogunate in Kusari, placing a Shogun, as opposed to an Emperor or Prime Minister, in charge of a truly independent Kusari Nation. 2. The Katsuragi Bakufu will expel any and all foreign individuals (government or corporate) perceived as "having influence over" Kusari Governance or it's citizens. 3. The Katsuragi Bakufu seeks the creation of a Kusari-Wide Council of Daimyo, these will be governors who will preside over each territory within Kusari and bring the concerns of the citizenry directly to The Shogunate. 4. The Katsuragi Bakufu will bring the remnants of the Imperial Family before a People's Court, to seek retribution for the crimes it committed against the Hideyoshi Shogunate, and more recently against the citizenry of House Kusari when they "abandoned them to Gallic oppression" Rank Structure
Shogun/Shikken: The leader of Katsuragi Bakufu. This is a Warrior who has risen to the very top either by inheritance or climbing over the corpses of their rivals, often times it is a mix of both. This is a person who seeks to rule over Kusari, or at least to help establish a Neo-Shogunate Rule, and who will represent the Katsuragi Clan under any future united Blood Dragon cause.Daimyo: The Daimyo hail from every system under Dragon Control and have the distinct responsibility of organzing and maintaining the armies of the Katsuragi Shogunate. These men and women are loyal without question and command respect and loyalty with their presence alone. For a Daimyo to arrive on the field of battle means that something truly extraordinary has occured. Often times the presence of a Daimyo has turned the tide of a battle, inspiring friendly soldiers, and striking fear into their enemies. Taichou: Warriors of this rank have proven themselves truly dedicated to the Katsuragi Family and their traditional values. Showing themselves to possess Martial Prowess and finely tuned leadership skills, these warriors are unrivalled by any other under the Katsuragi Banner and are given a great deal of autonomy as a result. Hatamoto: Hatamoto within the Army of the Katsuragi Shogunate (Katsuragi Dragons) have proven themselves to be capable and loyal warriors, these soldiers are the "Backbone" of Katsuragi fighting forces and can lead small units without oversight if necessary. Ashigaru: As the name suggests, they are the "light soldiers" of the Katsuragi Dragons. These men and women have little formal training and have only just begun their 'career' as soldiers of the Shogunate. Ashigaru must always be accompanied by a Hatamoto when operating outside of "Dragon Territory" (Restricted to Fighters until cleared by a Taichou or senior Hatamoto) Equipment

RE: The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Chrysalis - 10-22-2013 Looks pretty solid to me. Looking forward to working with you people. RE: The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Ryummel - 10-22-2013 I had understood that the new rules allowed officialdom for factions sharing same ID as long as each faction brought something "original" or "different" that the others wouldn't. After reading this, I can just say it's "yet another BD clan, the fifth in the queue". Why not trying to push for a merging between the already exisiting groups to increase the chances of success in earning officialdom? You're in (tumbleweed) Kusari, remember. Definitely a mutual feeling, I'm glad we had a chance to speak before I posted this, and I'm absolutely looking forward to seeing what we can do together as things move forward. RE: The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Ryummel - 10-22-2013 My question was totally unrelated to inRP issues. Well, to give you a (hopefully more clear) answer.. I've started speaking to the leader of WK tonight, and officialdom is not an immediate goal of my group here, although we may shift our focus toward that once we've established ourselves a bit better. Anyway as per my talk with the WK, we're basically intending to cooperate with one another, fly together regularly, and not step on each other's toes. i.e., they'll do their own thing, we'll do our own thing, and sometimes we'll come together for joint stuff and RP fun times. OORP: we'll be staying out of each other's way and not trying to powergame ourselves into advantageous situations over each other. At least that's my understanding of the talk I've had so far. RE: The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Ryummel - 10-22-2013 Mkay, that was a more clear answer, ty for your attention. RE: The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Sarawr!? - 10-22-2013 Glad I cleared things up, the only thing I'm after here is a little bit of fun, not to ruin that of other people. RE: The Katsuragi Bakufu; Katsuragi Dragons <KD>- - Pancakes - 10-22-2013 Nice write up and all, but I do have to ask why the part with gaijin hate (not that I am against hating on them), because Hideoshi was generally welcoming to foreingers, which was one of he reasons he got couped against. The Kogen dynasty was the one less welcoming toward them, and generally it was Kusari corporations' influence rather than outlanders. |
