Camara - SnakeLancerHaven - 10-27-2013

You guys gotta be kidding Big Grin

Its small but the heaviest freighter? 42 turn rate almost 10 lesser than every other Freighters, could it be possible to give the Camara 50 at least? Turn Rate. For its size it doesn't make any sense that its that heavy.

RE: Camara - Echo 7-7 - 10-27-2013

It's "heavy" because it has one of the largest cargo holds that a Freighter can have. The turn rate may be slow on paper, but the ship compensates by having a very slim profile, making it more difficult to hit.

RE: Camara - sindroms - 10-27-2013

Not to mention that with TS and TZ that thing is OP as hell.

Somehow funny when I look at Dromedary-biggest cargo space and turn rate 51.57.

As you can see, the Camara is much smaller, so it's slow for balance reasons.
iRP we can say that the Camara has much smaller maneuvering engines than other freighters.

You explain that very well.
Hmm but now when I look at those pictures...how can soo small ship load same amount of cargo? And how can bigger ship turn faster?
I don't complain it is just remark.

RE: Camara - Coin - 10-27-2013

inertia. the camara is long, so any turning force is multiplied by the length (newtons). a shorter, rounder ship can turn faster, as the forces acting on the hull are smaller.

the camara's shape means that the cargo boxes tesselate (or whatever the 3-d version of tesselation is) into its hold easier than the irregularly shaped dromedary's hold

You meant torques (also known as moments), those are the forceXdistance (mind that the mathematical sign X is cross and not simple multipication) you've talked about. Anyway the forces that affect the hull are smaller due to the hull shape (since the ship's length is the same), which is one that can sustain bigger centrifugal forces.

Anyway this doesnt all relate that much to the turning speed, this will be affected by the moment of inertia, which could be different due to different density.

Which theb leads back to the point of hull shape - camara is made from stronger more dense materials while dromedy is made from lighter materials but the structural integrity is better.

Balance>common sence

RE: Camara - Pepe - 10-29-2013

If freighters would ever get some combat role, Camara would be uber-OP. Freighters of Disco are just small transports so far, so no big deal. We use it for RP, events, maybe some urgent MOX delivery for cloaked BS... I see a freighter each week... or month. BAF had one too.

Hey, BAF freighters? Like WW2 SAS?

Combat freighters? To scout, escort and actually shoot someone?

Or even freighters able to mount Nova? Or double missile? Or repair turrets? That would show if Camara is OP pretty fast for sure. Like this:

heavier combat freighter example. Attack is their best defense
