Are there any circumstance a Zoner can stop a pirate?

Zoners and pirates. - Jinx - 07-30-2008

you mean - when he s not directly involved? - i don t think so... there are situations - like personal friendship etc ( in char )

or it can also be alliances. - when i was in sigma-13 and a GMG convoy that is NOT escorted by their own fighters would be attacked, i d ask the GMG if he requires assistance. - i wouldn t rush into it without asking.

if the GMG as an ally asks for assistance... i d assist. - not necessarily with force ( not charging the pirate with guns blazing ) - but it can also help diplomatic matters just to take a side and to be present.

pirates are not the zoners friends. - when they threaten the life of allies, friends or good customers, they can easily become targets. - zoners are neutral as long as their position is not threatened. - when they loose allies - or are threatened to loose them, they take sides.

yesterday for example, we had the LSF kill an order fighter in delta. - while i wouldn t engage the LSF - it was logical to deny them to dock at freeport 11 for this time ( not permanently, but for this "event" )

thats when pirates or others must be aware that being wittnessed by allies of those they fight carries consequences. and - if bad becomes worse... a zoner can even engage an enemy both, attacking him or self defense of course.

I think the opposite needs to be addressed more than this. Zoners tend to not engage others until, as jinx said, they or their allies become threatened. However, I've noticed a dramatic increase in the number of traders using zoner ID's lately in an attempt to avoid being pirated, always claiming "We're nuetral, you cant attack zoners!"

As a Hogosha, I'm a friend to the corsairs, and to the order... but as far as I'm concerned there are no secondary friendships through them - If a zoner messes up in kusari space or on it's borders I'll engage them like anyone else.

Just the other day I caught a zoner in a firefly attempting to haul slaves through kyushu towards malta. If it hadnt been for an outcast destroyer intervening, I'd have destroyed him for refusing to let the slaves go on nago station - instead he got away while I had to kill the outcast dessie.

but that part is a misleading thought that came up somewhere. - zoners are as much targets for piracy as anyone else, no doubt, - however, they usually don t fight back like others. - when you attack an ALG convoy, the escorts will counterattack, and you might find yourself with a bounty on your head.

its a very very straight foreward issue.

now, if you attack zoners, they may do the usual self defense, but you don t only find yourself with a bounty on your head - but your next shopping tour to a freeport might be difficult, - if the zoners remember you. - that is.... its a long way from a nobody to a celebrety, but once you re "known" for attacking zoners, your life - and consequently, the life of your faction might become harder.

the end of the story is most likely that you won t fear the zoners as much as you fear your friends who are denied docking on freeports henceforth - untill *they* judge over you.

zoners do not like to miss business, - but they also don t like to get their hands dirty. - if there are others around that can do their dirtywork, they let them do it. - if possible, a zoner will rather alyway retreat and have a more subtle revenge ( or, since they are mostly civilian, he ll simply be glad to be alive )

the only thing that can hold back a pirate from pirating zoners is that zoners have considerable more power in the space that the pirates usually live than the house traders.

mostly though - zoners are just trying to survive - i think we should make a RP tour saying that zoners are neutral, but neutrality does not mean immune.... people MUST get that into their heads. - they do have more options to talk their way out - and are usually treated MUCH fairer than the common trader. - thats all about it. ( and the fact that no pirate faction knows precisely how big the zoner fleet really is. - uncertainty is a weapon. - showing a destroyer here and there sometimes, or stirring up rumors about the juggernauts is a greater weapon than parading dozens of liberty dreadnaught through new york )

well, my hogosha doesnt venture beyond kusari borders, so docking at freeports isnt much of a problem :P

What really irks me is that the guy was carrying slaves, and I'm fairly certain that zoners are heavily against slave trade. Their relations with the outcasts through the order also say that they're not on great terms with the outcasts (not hostile, but definitely not friendly).

Zoners and pirates. - Colonel Z.e.r.o. - 07-30-2008

These were run of the mill power traders in sigma 13/New berlin (no GMG around) I was enaged by someone with a coalition ID and seconds after a zoner pilot. Without warning from either.

Zoner's shouldn't be carrying slaves.

Coalition ID cannot engage traders correct?

Zoners and pirates. - sovereign - 07-31-2008

Coalition ID can't touch anything remotely civilian-ish (traders included) and even barring that if you aren't part of the SCRA you shouldn't have the ID. Send in a sanction report if you got screenshots, of both the guy's ID and the attack without warning. To me those guys are just pvp whores, not RPers, and they would do that with any faction ID.

-Lukus- has also attacked and destroyed me without any warning. He then said i had oppened fire on his friend Maverick who actually bumped into me on purpose after i had undocked from the Oder shipyard, claiming i was a terrorist for absolutely no reason at all. i was flying a scimitar being pretty much defenseless against these guys.

These guys are just pvp whores and it makes me really angry that they can get away with it

Zoners seek good relations with everyone. If someone ask to stop, you stop, without needs of disruptors from ennemies.

If they want some money, pay them or send food/pharma/water to their bases !

Give money is a good thing for zoners. It makes freeport advertising !

More they got money, more they will be attracted by our peaceful stations, more they will buy our food like a trial, and finally, they will be happy of our services and will buy for MORE WE GAVE THEM ! => the zoners are here to make profit !
(see the MMOGames, they do the same, 1 or 2 weeks trials then you pay)

So in RP term, a zoner may pay without the pirate ask and maybe more than a trader will be asked.
