Koeln System, Sector 5G
Suddenly the silence aboard the Oppurg was interrupted by a monotonous machine sound.
*Beep Beep*
Axel slammed his fist on the button next to the speaker and returned to stare out of the window.
"Scanner data analyzed, no ore deposit's found"
"Just great. I guess we can do this all day without finding anything in here."
He started up the scanner for another run. The 5th one in 4 hour's. Once everything was set he started the automated process again, then leaned back and placed his feet in the co pilot chair.
Staring at a large picture on the cockpit wall, showing a farm on planet Stuttgart with some LWB propaganda painted over it. He mainly had it there to remind him of the beauty of some places in Rheinland, rather than for the LWB propaganda.
"Sometimes live as farmer might be easier. Heck why did I even start to work in here?" he mumbled to himself.
He focused on the hot chocolate in his left hand again and took a sip.
Suddenly John appeared in the door. He made his way to the co pilot seat and Axel quickly took his feet off, as the old man sat down.
"Found anything worth this hassle yet?"
"Sadly not. Anything from the scientific team?"
"Nope. We are out here for some hour's already. We should return to dock now and get some rest."
"And tell them what? You think they will be pleased that the second system we survey has no deposits either? After that fail with omega 9 we should be on the look out."
"Well that is the downside of working in a company then"
the old man began to laugh, though that soon turned into coughing.
"You're alright?"
"Of course Iam! Well I will get back to these scientist's before they make a mess out of my cargo bay."
"You don't like company down there?"
"They can't stop to reallocate and rearrange all our cargo container's and they nearly drive me insane. Always asking me to get them this, or that, as if I were there to service them."
"They are academic's what did you expect. They are not used to how thing's on a mining ship run."
"They better get used to it soon or I will throw them all out of the airlock."
They both laughed and John made his way out of the cockpit, leaving Axel alone again. He resumed to stare at the picture.
"I wonder how working on a farm may ..."
Scanning positive. Ore deposit found. Processing Data.
"Well was about damn time."
Axel quickly turned his seat and got to the comm unit.
"KMS Oppurg to survey team lead. We may found something out here ..."

Another group of small freighter's was leaving Wuppertal to survey the nearby asteroid field. Axel stood at one of the bar window's watching the ship's disappearing in the darkness of space. He sighed then turned to make his way out of the bar.
Just a few days since the first positive scan had passed but things were geting into motion now. Kruger Vorstand had set a meeting on Wuppertal to decide about the future of the project. And just a day before it, Hans Nauman, had called in sick. He was in charge of the survey operation in Koeln and now he dropped all his work on Axel. Not enough yet, Axel also only had a few hours to work through countless reports from the survey ship's and mining vessel's in Koeln to prepare them for the Vorstand.
He sighed again as he walked down the hallway towards the meeting room. He was focused on a new report from the Oppurg as John walked up to him from behind.
"Lot of work to do eh?"
"Seems so. How is the survey going?"
"Pretty slow. Hessian and LWB ship's just made us withdraw from the current sector. Without further escort ship's we can't complete the mission in time."
"Another thing to worry about then. I will make a call to the RFP base and ask them if they could provide us with a fighter wing."
"You should get some sleep now."
"I've been trying since yesterday morning. But every time I get into a sleepy state, another problem comes straight at my desk."
"Close your desk for a while then. You're not looking good today Axel."
"I wish it would be that easy. Really I know im not in shape anymore. Well maybe in a hour or two. Now I need to prepare the meeting room."
With that Axel walked on.

Helene departed from Essen Station in the New Berlin system in the Gamma-33. She did see the reports of Axel Walther and was convinced as Vorsitzender of the Krüger Mineralien, that the Koeln system would be a part of the future of the Krüger Mineralien. It would have been a stupid move of ALG Waste Disposal and Krüger Mineralien to invest into a fruitless operation. She sets course to Wuppertal Refinery.

Once arrived she moors on docking bay 5, stops her engines and walks to a private chamber for the Krüger Mineralien Vorstand to meet. She is the first one to arrive in the chamber and walks to the minibar and get herself a cold glass of water and takes the seat at the head of the table. Looking outside the window to planet Steinfurt.

Anne was sitting at her office desk when a report just came in. The title was rather interesting in business terms. An invitation was also attached so after reading the message she left her office and took her personal shuttle to travel to Wuppertal Refinery in Koeln.
During the flight Anne took the time to study the details of the letter and to prepare for the meeting. The lanes took her quite fast to the refinery and once she received the docking permission the shuttle docked. Anne visited the cantina as her first target then asked for directions from the personnel of the station. Once shes got the directions Anne left the cantina in haste.

Axel was nervous. Nearly the entire Vorstand was in the conference room now. He looked over his files again and took a last sip from his glass of water, then got up and made his way to the front of the meeting table.
"Meine Damen und Herren." He began. It took a moment until the chat and noise in the room hat settled but then he had the full attention of all his guest's.
"I'm glad that all of you made it here without any problems. Well let's start with business then." He quickly grabbed the remote to his right and started to switch through various pictures, projected onto the wall behind him.
"As you can see the asteroid field's do not have the desired amount of ore we were looking for the in the first place. The Wildspitz field is still rich on aluminum ore at this moment, so it will be our best source of income for now. Until the operation around planet Steinfurt can begin we will have to relay on the alu mining to fuel our expansion here." He paused and let the Vorstand suck up all his info's before he continued
"As you know I have a proposition to construct a small outpost in this system. Wuppertal is sadly to far from the field and recent activities of Hessians have proven that we need a own base of operation if we want to get a foot in this system."
Another pause. By now Axel could tell that not the entire Vorstand was pleased by his idea. It meant a large potion of their money would go into this new project.
He took another sip of water and then continued.
"Now for the report's of our mining survey teams. ....."
After nearly 2 hour's Axel was more than exhausted. He was barely awake, waiting outside the conference room for the decision of the Vorstand.
Just as he fell asleep a young lady entered his field of view.
"Herr Walther? You can come in now."
"Ah well. Danke."
He slowly made his way back to the meeting table. A joyful Helene greeted him and he sat down.
"Herr Walther, I'm happy to announce that the Vorstand has agreed to support your expansion project. You will be given the found's and resources to establish an outpost in Koeln."
Suddenly applause was heard. Axel was simply to exhaust to jump from his chair but he was relived. All the work he and his team had done finally paid off.
