Obviously energy-intensive. Less damage per fire. Could be a buff of the Purple Goddess as well, if you want to go civilian. Or you could come up with a particle cannon for a different faction, like the Order, LH, Gaians, Hogosha, Mollys, etc. Then you could play with a different set of colors (and keep it class 9). Now I have a clearer idea of what you're doing with this project. Everyone likes a high-refire gun, but setting limits is wise. And I really do love particle weapons, so more variations would be awesome (even though Reaper is neutron, right?) I would tweak Scumbag's suggestion a little bit and give the Order a version of the Buckshot.
