Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - sindroms - 01-30-2014 Hello. For personal purposes I would like to ask you as a member of the community to fill out a simple survey of sorts. I would like to know which aspect of Discovery, be it ingame or on-forum stuff was the biggest stumbling stone and what was the hardest to grasp thing for you as a new member. Be it now or then. If you may, please try and categorize them, for e.g. : ID system, Capital Ship Roleplay, Piracy, Rules and so forth. You can give multiple answers. I need at least twenty replies. Replies from members who have been here for less than a year are extremely valued. If you want, use the form below: Code: [indent] All irrelevant posts will be removed. This is not a discussion thread, please refrain from commenting on other posts. If you want, you can also submit this via PM. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Tyler - 01-30-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) Trader. I think PvP is also a important part of the game, but I just don't enjoy it that much personally. I do enjoy flying through Sirius, trading whatever goods I feel like and which makes sense in RP in respect to whatever faction I'm flying at that moment. *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. Oh, I can't remember. Perhaps the worst one I've encountered personally was the words uttered by a certain someone from the ZA about 'we at war, no more rp' in O-74. That broke my spirit back then. Because of a implemented feature (POBs) made folks forget the thing most people come here, which was RP. *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. Learning the do's and don'ts, such as understanding the concept of OORP/OOC and such. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Bulldog. - 01-30-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) Well with a navy faction.I learned pvp and rules this way...Faction members are indeed a great help for new players getting use to flight and faction law concepts *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. Well someone requested my help with their laptop.(hardware issues) *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. Well on forum nothing really.Ingame was the Overall rule/laws.As new member you tend to forget some of the laws/rules and could land you in trouble very early into the game.(Again if your in a faction you can just ask ofc) RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Ponge - 01-30-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) I choose trader first, as that seemed to be the most logical. You need to make money for PvP ships. *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. Hm, I really can't remember. *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. The rules, and the ID limitations/allowances. As a newcomer, it was really hard to get how the ID works. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Markus_Janus - 01-30-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) I started out as many do as a simple trader and slowly found my way to the Sigma systems where I claimed one of the NPC gas miners near the edge of Sigma-19 as my family property. *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. When I was confronted by the local faction there at the time and told my RP was unacceptable as it stood in the way of local factions, sad day. *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. My only difficulty when first arriving was penetrating the circle of vets that decided RP for the most part. As usual for a new indy, I butted heads with them a few times until I decided that enough was enough and forced my way into the circle, happy ever since. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Murcielago - 01-30-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) Pirate, I realy like that. It makes me interact with people. Also for me is Pew important, more than RP but ofcourse this is RP server so I do my best to RP if possible. *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. Well I can't realy remember first one (ooRP incident), but it happens every day if you are pirate. Like few days ago, when I robbed some trader and man came back with IMG BC asking me to return his 10mils. Also F1ing happens every day. But this are new players, what is more disturbing for me are some veterans, you can see ther RP and you know they are good, they ofcourse pay but they also like to come back and kill you with some lawfull char ofcourse. But that is "game" I know and I can live with that. What I realy hate are some wierd aliances (that should be sancioned by my oppinion), for example yesterday (coalition+Baf) trying to kill me and that coalition guy said in sys. chat that he helps Mollys. Or those Wilde, oh please that fraction is just to trol and then pop people. Also as new player I was surprised how unbalanced are ship classes, soĆ³ as every new player I bought BS when I had credits, just to see that one small ship can kill me not doing much. I never both another BS after that. *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. Oh thats easy: moast difficult aspect of game for me is, if you are bad at english lenguage and slow at writing on KB. Am doing better now but am still far from to be good. Soo if you are bad at this you lose and lose fast, or if you have won by some accident you get sancioned becouse your RP sucks. Soo despite all those things (Sirius is to big, balance, bugs, players that hate to lose and come back, F1ing , developers that hate me, ect.) I like this community and this game. Oh and for some time now I like this forum too, I have to say that I'm afraid when I read Narcotic posts....soo familiar. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Thexare - 01-30-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) Started with the BPA, but took several factions to really find one I was comfortable in - an indie Outcast. *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. Truthfully, I don't really recall any. *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. Mostly, I think it was a lack of inclusion. I was happiest with the Outcasts because there were people that actually RPed with me as an equal, particularly (at the time Eppy's) 101st. Another issue I had was one of trying to find the right faction for my playstyle and interests. Keep in mind that this is the perspective of someone who was, at the time, an experienced RPer - I came here because it's an RP server more than anything else. Might not be exactly what you're going for, but hopefully it's useful. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Jansen - 01-31-2014 *Your choice of progression through the ingame. (A.I trader, miner, pirate, so on.) Junker, back then it was just everything in one ID. *Your first incident OORP, if acceptable. Gave my RFP ship the tag of the official faction back then, without really knowing that I shouldnt. The RFP guys back then explained it to me and got me to join. *What caused the most difficulties for you as a new player ingame and on the forums. See above. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - Tunicle - 01-31-2014 FL trader first then police. Only one that sticks from way back then was a indy Liberty cap completely ignoring RP requests from a officially tagged ship. ID/IFF, which TBH is the biggest "abuse" I still see every day. RE: Community Survey: Your Stumbling Stones as a new member - sindroms - 01-31-2014 Thanks for the replies, everyone. Keep them coming. |
