The Zoner's Oath || Data & Logs - Soul Reaper - 01-30-2014 The Zoner's Oath
These are files pertaining to the Zoner's Oath, an armed and armored TTR-1130 Series Pilgrim Liner, its owner and captain a Freelancer known as Dean Locksmith. The Zoner's Oath is known to accept and do a variety of jobs that may include simple cargo transporation, space combat or even bounty hunting. While the Zoner's Oath itself is officially flagged as a legal independent transport vessel within the Houses, it's crew -while they uphold their cover- is not. The company Dean Locksmith keeps is interesting, if not quite legitimate.
The Crew
Dean Locksmith, Captain
The Liberty-born owner and captain of the Zoner's Oath, Dean Locksmith's corporate vitae is filled with positions and employment under multiple large and prestigious corporate brands that operate both within and outside house space, mostly as the Captain or First Officer of large transport vessels. While he has no known criminal record, there have been multiple reports of law violations yet none of these reports had enough evidence for them to be processed with any repercussions, there is also the fact that someone with his background experience could easily snatch a job with corporate giants yet refusing to do so despite multiple offers is quite dodgy.
Locksmith, like most freelance captains, has hand-picked and recruited his crew himself over time, a crew which ranges from criminals to ex-military personnel to ex-corporate employees like himself. The variety in the background of his crew suggests that Locksmith has a very long list of contacts throughout Sirius which he uses effectively in terms of making money.

Roy Carver, First Officer
"Lieutenant" Roy Carver, previously a Lieutenant under the Liberty Navy was Dismissed with Disgrace due to "misuse of Naval equipment" and "using restricted unconventional and non-ethical tactical choices within operational protocols", the details of which are still classified and known only by Naval High Command and himself. He now serves as the First Officer of the Zoner's Oath and while their history is shrouded in mystery, he is possibly and probably Dean Locksmith's closest friend and ally. Carver is known to be orderly and precise as would be expected from an ex-military officer, however his ethical department is quite lacking, which to Locksmith, is a boon.
Although slightly lacking in discipline, Roy more than makes up for it by keeping the rest of the crew relatively in line and is also the "head of security" for the Zoner's Oath, putting him in charge of the two ex-PMC operatives they have on board as guards; as well as the Armory.

Jayce Brooks, Communications Officer
Jayce "Troll" Brooks is the officer in charge of interstellar communications and internal systems control on board the Zoner's Oath. Priding himself with his ability to scavenge the Neural Net and finding literally -anything- the crew and ship may request or require, Jayce used to be an infamous hacker within hacker and even intelligence agency circles. Even though his legal name and information is well known and has been "prosecuted" with multiple offenses, has yet to be caught -in multiple Houses- by the authorities. Brooks is mostly known for -other than his unrivaled ability for corporate and government espionage and electronic piracy- the misuse of interstellar communications to "indecently" contact government, military and police officials with extreme, racist, indecent or simply pornographic content repeatedly, something he himself considers as "trolling".
It is unknown exactly how Jayce came under the employment of Dean Locksmith, however it is known that Locksmith has pulled Jayce out of tricky situations and has officially paid in credits for most of his public offenses. As for the rest of his offenses, most governments simply do not want them publicized and mostly leave Jayce alone.

Jojo Van Middlesworth, Chief Engineer
Jojo "Doc" Van Middlesworth is the Chief Engineer aboard the Zoner's Oath, the person keeping the ship fit and correctly tuned for the mission and keeping it alive under structural combat stress. Bretonian-born and raised, Jojo sees himself a polite gentlemen as any Bretonian should be, as well as considering himself to be the most important person on board and the best grease monkey anyone could ever employ. With his PhD in mechanical engineering and multiple Masters Degrees in any sub-branch of mechanical engineering, he is, quite literally, the smartest person on board the Zoner's Oath. He mostly lives in the Engine Room along with the three other ship engineers under his command, keeping the ship alive.
While the specifics are unknown, Jojo is a known childhood friend of Dean Locksmith, Jojo at first quite doesn't seem to fit as part of the crew of a ship like the Zoner's Oath, however he sees himself in debt to one Dean Locksmith who had pulled Jojo out of a tricky situation with a criminal organization that had destroyed his old life and nearly cost Jojo's own. He enjoys the given protection of working under Dean Locksmith from the aforementioned criminal organization, the Mollys.

Dan Wheeler, Weapons Specialist, Gunner
Dan "The Kid" Wheeler, Bretonian, is the youngest crew member of the Zoner's Oath. An ex-military officer-in-training, Dan was born into a family whose roots were deep in the Bretonian Armed Forces, as expected he too took the mantle of the family and signed up for Military schools all the way up the Academy where he dropped out for unknown reasons. However, he has experience in universal weapons technology, including that of transport class weaponry, which makes him a valuable asset to the Zoner's Oath. He also has a taste for combat and also serves as one of the two Gunners on-board while he's not in the Armory or maintaining the ship's turrets and additional defense systems. He had been arrested twice for using unknown weaponry and equipment on personal fighter-craft that gave an illegal edge in potential space combat.
While his reasons of dropping out of the Bretonian Armed Forces Military Academy is unknown, he had been planning on trying out to become a Mercenary for a specifically known Mercenary Company but had come across Dean Locksmith before he could, Locksmith had somehow persuaded the young Wheeler into not throwing his life away just yet, not until he gained some experience.

Luke Bunnett, Gunner
Luke Bunnett, also Bretonian, is one of the two Gunners of the Zoner's Oath, not much is known about his past although he claims to have once been a medical student on Cambridge, which is somehow justified as he also helps the ship's medical officer Rina Fujioka. While Luke is efficient in combat controlling the Oath's guns, he is quite lazy at anything else and has an unfortunate habit of not being bothered to do anything until set to do his job by either the Captain or First Officer.
Luke has a history of working for Bretonian shipping corporations as a gunner or weapon specialist for large transports, it is presumed that Dean Locksmith had found Luke through his corporate contacts as a relatively efficient and competent employee looking for more income.

Rina Fujioka, Medical Officer
Rina Fujioka is the Medical Officer of the Zoner's Oath and is tasked with keeping the crew relatively healthy and not-dead. She was born and raised on Planet New Tokyo to parents with very high professional expectations from her. Not to their satisfaction and her unfortunate "incompetency", she graduated with only two master's degrees in both Medicine and Pharmacy as well as attending classes in assorted biotechnology. She was lucky to have her education nonetheless and managed to stay clear of Kusari's political perspective of pressure on women. Her life however turned upside down when she was caught smuggling pharmaceuticals to sick children whose parents couldn't afford medicine and had been flagged as possible Golden Chrysanthemum operatives.
The offenses she was charged with would have had put her in jail or even worse, a correctional facility if not for Dean Locksmith who she had met before while he was employed under Interspace Commerce as a transport Captain carrying pharmaceuticals for the company she had worked for. Locksmith's contacts within the Hogosha had allowed for the charges against her to be dropped and remain dropped whilst she is under Locksmith's protection and employment, much like Jojo Van Middlesworth.

Yep, Rina was pissed, Luke was down there as well, getting his "nose checked out", they basically almost died when the computer automatically locked down the Medical Bay because it thought there was a decompression for some reason, they ran out of air. Luckily Jayce was on his station at the time and overrode the controls, I told him to update the software so hopefully that won't happen again. Either way, the system was fixed in a couple of hours since we had some spare parts laying around. Other than that, that Armed Forces contact finally picked up his special package from us, we were paid in full, was a nice paycheck. Also Roy's been checking for some jobs, he says we should be heading into Dublin since there always seems to be an abundance of Gold...as well as the risk of getting shot at by the random "pirates" around the area, who apparently don't give a damn about anything except for blood. Jayce is telling me there's moderate action going down in the Omegas, I have a few friends down there so I called them, it seems there's a lot of probable income for a crew like us...thinking of going there. Also, I finally won the lottery from that ticket I got...three thousand credits...screw my life. \\File Closed

Been working closely with a certain not-as-legit Bretonian Privateer, basically, he picks a target with goods and then liberates them for the good of Bretonia which the Oath assists transporting due to our large cargo bay, profit for all. Also been doing some jobs on the side, including ore hauls, quite the profit. But the dangers here are also...high. Both Bretonia and Rheinland have claims to the system so the militaries are focused on each other, gives a lot of room for pirates and other baddies, especially with Freeport One right there. We've been spending quite a bit of cash on repairs due to the combat we get in, too many damned pirates and none of them are subtle at all. But Freeport 1 is in the middle of a main trade route between two houses as well as industrial output so we have access to a significant amount of spare parts and tech in case we get hit really hard. Almost didn't make it out twice, on both occasions we were saved by some snubcraft who I think belong to the same group, they had an unknown IFF configuration and were tagged Wilde...and considering their weapons, Roy tells me that they might be Nomads, in fact he's almost sure of it. But if that's the case, why would they be protecting us? \\File Closed

Well, that's just a load of bull. Cap't just asked Jayce to get me some structural data for a Hel class cruiser. And now he wants me to analyze them to see if it'd be possible to "recreate" one, basically using scrap parts, which I replied to with no. I mean, it's a cruiser for crying out frak. Sooo I need to see what we'd need to at least repair one. He's really gonna go through with his, or at least try. Considering he contacted a band of Junkers to find him one, ugh..this is going to be a waste of time, resources and most importantly, money. Although I guess it would be better to be in a cruiser rather than this pile of garbage. Which reminds me, aft decks five through seven have been sealed shut until we can get some external repairs done to the hull once we're back on Freeport One, the electronics on the mooring clamps have been fixed, though we're out of spare hydraulic fluid. Other than that, the old girl seems to be able to keep herself together for now. Jojo out. \\File Closed
