Is anyone playing Entropy? - Igiss - 02-02-2014

I wonder if any of the Disco players have been playing Entropy, a space MMO that's available on Steam Early Access now. It's not free, basic price is $20.

This thing looks kinda like Freelancer with similar camera setup, some controls and even some GUI elements, though it's very buggy on this stage and may disappoint beginning players since tutorials are not very straightforward (and buggy as well).

Strangely though, with all the new detailed graphics and cool technology behind it, it still doesn't really look more beautiful than Freelancer. But maybe that's just me.

In any case, I haven't seen many good space games lately and since I'm afraid to touch Eve that's the closest thing to Freelancer that I've seen in some time.

Never played it. Haven't found a space sim better than freelancer.

I'd probably try it, looks cool

That looks like it would explode my computer

"The space sim you've been waiting 15 years for"..????

The graphics look lightyears ahead of Freelancer (as it were). This is good. It appears there are more RPG elements in this game, which is kinda cool, but dogfighting looks more fire-and-forget than Freelancer, but that may just be the intro video.

At any rate it looks like a nice game. Think I'll wait till the serious bugs are resolved, tho.

It seems pretty interesting, I'm still not sure if it's worth getting it though. Does anyone know if it's even any good?

this looks cool but freelancer is second life to some people. #freelancerforever

would love to try that although it looks similar to Galaxy on Fire 2

After sinking in around 130 Eur over the past year on pre-access or open beta games like this, I have taken a horrible disliking towards titles, which involve paying 70% of the end-version's cost for a game which is only 50% done.

I suggest you avoid such titles like the plague. I looked at the game and it is still not the same as Freelancer. Perhaps after a year of development it might be worth sinking a few bucks into, but not now as it is.

Did i hear Nomad BS Turret in 0:42 mark ?

But ye' the game looks cool, i even might buy it to try it out maybe next month, 20 euros isn't that much after all, because i like the idea of RP and dynamic universe and building the game together with others, though Freelancer will remain deep in my heart and still be my favourite space sim out there !

I can't help but agree. I'm also getting rather tired of "early-access" titles and such myself, particularily because just waiting and seeing how it all pans out before paying anything is a lot more attractive to me after backing a few failed Kickstarters here and there. And, to be honest, I really can't see myself spending anything on this after "investing" a bit too much in Star Citizen; there are limits to both my money and free time anyhow.

PS: Entropy does look really cool already, though; I'll gladly grant it that. But I still think I'll wait for a while until a "final" version has been released before I'm going to consider trying it.
