Pirate ID Discussion - Lythrilux - 02-03-2014

So, what are peoples thoughts and feelings on this ID? I'm just wondering what the general community thinks about this (No poll edition!).
I believe that the ID is grossly overpowered. They have a ZoI that is too large for it's own good, coupled with the fact that they have access to a ridiculous amount of technology with no real RP behind that. And, as others have said, I agree that it's basically a terrorist ID. A lot of people who use the ID seem to not care for credits or cargo, but rather just want to have quick pews in an unlimited ZoI. I see a lot of Pirate ID'd players jumping into fights without making a demand prior. And if they do make a demand, they make it knowing that the targeted player cannot pay whilst under fire from attackers, and thus the Pirate ID'd player gets a free pass to jump into a fight.
That's my thoughts and feelings, what are yours?

For the sake of all the nice (hardly played) unlawful IDs, I would say: delete the pirate ID. There are so many colorful pirate factions. Is there really a need for the (often colorless) Pirate ID? I do not think so.

Signed.

Also any self respecting pirate group would pirate/kill independent pirate in their space fairly quickly. If not removed, rep-hack them hostile to everything but junker/zoner/freelancer bases.

The ID itself are redicilously oveerpowered, but its up to players to make RP of your character. Of cource its bad to limit people from being independent pirates who do not care to serve someone. But often enough, players are abusing the ID in own good. You already named a few most used.

But what do you propose? Make severall Pirate IDs with limited ZOI and/or RP?
Like: Liberty Indie Pirate ID - can pirate ppl in Liberty and 1 system away from it. (limit ZOI)
Or: Unlawful ID: Can pirate lawful ships but cannot do so to unlawfuls. (limit number of enemies)

Ofcourse some might say: ''Delete Pirate ID! Its OP!'' But I dont really think this is THAT good idea...

Unlimited ZoI ID's are usually bad news, it undermines the entire system.

I had an idea, ID could be rewritten like this:
Quote:This player is an Independent Pirate who:
-Can attack any ship in self-defense, or to assist other Pirate ID'd ships.
-Can demand cargo and credits from only transports.
-Cannot demand credits during a fight
-Cannot use any transports with more than 3,600 cargo, except for Pirate Train.

To go along with this, I suggest that the Pirate ID gets all of it's faction tech cells wiped off, and that they can only use Sirius/Gallic Civilian, House Civilian and Border Worlds technology.

well give the Pirat id a own iff like freebooter so its clear that it is a indi pirat .

RE: Pirate ID Discussion - Omi - 02-03-2014

The Pirate ID is just a Terrorist ID with a built-in 'delay period', as you have to wait for about thirty seconds before you can reasonably say that your target ignored your demand.

It's pretty gross how good it is. Just about the only drawback to it is the no-dock rephacks in Liberty, but other than that it's probably the most lenient ID in the mod.

Well, its up to players to make RP of their character, but I don't see how inRP small independent pirate can pirate all around galaxy opposed to real pirate groups.

That thing who never proposed we already have, its called FL vanilla pirate factions Tongue

Also you can always for example be corsair and RP your way to join some other faction as long as it makes sense. (For sairs lets say you join gaians, hogosha, afa etc...), RP is pretty opened and limitless on our mod, but for me its pretty OORP that indie pirat can visit whole galaxy in one day and pirate all around while docking on bases he would most probably be killed on.

RE: Pirate ID Discussion - Eris The Goddess - 02-03-2014

Eris sees the discussion of criminals within the fierce space.. But on a serious note..

Pirates are not OP. You say Lythrilux it is? I recommend to look more close to other factions. See k'hara with an unlimited zoi one you are in too. They have ship classes till battleships AND can infinite cloak, see wilde who goes till cruiser.. Both can engage any target as they do please. Pirates must make a demand, still they can get TILL gunboat. I remember storks of jack here passing by when i played.. All cau8.. Now with the new 'Balance' they are almost imbeatable. Not to talk about the battle transports. I see why DiscoveryPTC made their own version. Because it lacks a whole bunch on GC. But still ok pirates..

Pirates must act in groups of at least 2 or more.. Without that they are just targets for so called ganksquads. Nothing good nor bad with it, but do not forget they cannot do massive damage. Also the pirate id is rephacked red to almost every faction there is. They can dock on a little and when they do pirate in houses (or old systems like tau 29 with the nice npc spawn) they get their asses kicked.

Balance people..
