/Restart crash help. - Hawken - 02-09-2014
So I managed to get one of the my friends to try out disco recently but it would appear that every time he attempts a /restart (beginner in this case) it causes his game to crash whenever he attempts to log back on to that character. I did a quick search on the forums without seeing anything similar glaring at me so I apologize in advance if this has been addressed already.
Any suggestions?

Is the crash a keep kick from the server, or a complete failure of disco?
In either case try reinatall

According to him the game itself will either minimize and eventually crash, or the screen will go black when attempting to load the character and begin flickering. He can play normally however, it is only when attempting to load a character the /restart command has been used on that will cause it to crash.

not sure what causes this, but i have the same problem.
the work around is to disconnect from the server BEFORE the kick
then you can connect normally.
if you didnt jump before you were pushed, then here is the work around.
1. install FLAM unless you have it already.
2. switch to a different ACCOUNT, log back into the game
3. while sitting IN THE BASE, press F!, select new server
4. alt-tab out to flam, go to the original ACCOUNT
5. rejoin server BUT CONNECT WITH A DIFFERENT CHARACTER
6. INSIDE THE BASE, select new char, go back to original character
7. undock, pew
8. ????
9. profit

It's possible you logged back in too fast after doing the /restart.
That message that said "Please wait 10 seconds before reconnecting"? Yeah, it really does mean that.
Please let me know if you can reproduce this by /restarting on a new character, waiting 15-20 seconds, then logging back into it.
