An event for the LSF, LPI and Das Wilde

This follows on from this event.

Part Two

Vardogr has been taken aboard the Sugarland. Also aboard the prison station is Gefreiter Lukas Tchaykovsky, captured during the failed attempt to stop Vardogr reaching Sugarland Station. Their two Wraiths are docked on the station, and the Nomad Power Cell Vardogr was carrying is stored within a secure unit, under guard.

Agent Virgo advises his superiors of the apprehension of Vardogr, and the nomad artifact he claims has been taken from the Rheinland battleship, Westfalen. The LSF, unwilling to allow a civilian organisation to be in possession of alien technology, demand Vardogr, Tchaykovsky and the artifact be turned over to them. The LPI arrange for them to be transported aboard a prison liner heading for Alaska, where the transfer will occur.

The LPI advise Vardogr he will be transported to Prison Station Mitchell in Alaska. Vardogr immediately alerts the Wild mindshare. Das Wilde agents within the Rheinland Military ensure that the RM high command is made aware of the transfer of Vardogr to the LSF station. Alarmed that Vardogr and Tchaykovsky have fallen into Libertonian hands, unsure as to the exact extent of their knowledge of military codes etc, and enraged at the destruction of the patrol that originally pursued Vardogr, RM high command advise an active raiding party to immediately head for Texas to intercept the transport before it can reach the relative safety of the New York system.

With Vardogr in constant contact with the mindshare, Das Wilde are able to easily track the prison liner and advise the Rheinland Military as to it’s route. Das Wilde have ensured they have cloaked vessels in the immediate vicinity of the planned ambush. When the LPI liner and its escort arrive at the predetermined location, the Das Wilde vessels uncloak, and a Humpback freighter attaches itself to the hull of the liner. Within the liner, the crew are quickly engaged by Das Wilde operatives, and Vardogr and Tchaykovsky are released. Das Wilde agents activate a number of nomad artifacts within the cargo bay holding the nomad powercell.

The Rheinland cruiser StahlAuge (or maybe the Heilige Eins. This is as yet undecided) uncloaks and covers the Prison Liner.

Rules of engagement

Yes there are some in this one. Please, please remember them in the event.

The Liner is not to be attacked. Its cargo is considered too valuable to all sides to risk it’s destruction.

Liberty and Wilde snubs are free to engage each other at will, should the situation develop.

The two cruisers are only to fire upon each other. When one is destroyed, the other will disengage from the fight to cover the LPI liner. What happens to the liner depends upon who wins the event.

Not sure why the =LSF= wasn't consulted on the details but uhh. Some things don't add up. First of all, the LSF wouldn't tell the LPI where the prisoners would be going, the LPI have no knowledge of anything within Alaska and in no way would their transport be allowed to enter Alaska anyway (and would probably be met by an LSF transport near Zone 21 to transfer the prisoners).

Even though the Wilde operative wouldn't know where he's going, the other wilde would still be able to track him cuz telepathy etc, sure.

But you realize that this would be happening within Liberty core systems, Texas is -one- jump away from both the House capital as well as a Navy armada in Minnesota. Texas is crawling with Liberty Lawfuls. The best way to get to Alaska would be to use the lanes directly to the NY gate and then lane down to open space which wouldn't be that far from the Zone 21 minefield. That's not a lot of time or open space for 2 cruisers (that are fighting each other) to be able to capture the Liner without getting mobbed down by a Naval strike force.

And where did the cruisers come from in the first place? It would take quite a while for the wilde to respond to the threat as well contact the Rheinland military -and- bring cruisers all the way to Liberty. The prisoner transporation would probably be easily done by the time they even get close enough.

I don't like non-realistic situations, especially when the =LSF= wasn't even consulted on the details and it was all just "made up" and presumed we'd run along with it, so I'll need counter-arguments to my own, if not, you'll have to do it with LSF indis or Navy or something.

Ok Soul, let's just deal with this bit first

You were. The entire event detail was in our skype thread for three days (or it might have been two) for you to read, comment on and have problems with. You didn't, hence my thought that you would be happy to run along with it.

As for the Alaska thing, sure, fine, the liner wouldn't go into Alaska, but would probably rv with an LSF vessel at Zone 21. That's fair enough, but again, seeing as you didn't mention anything about that in our skype chat, what was I supposed to think?

(02-22-2014, 09:09 AM)Soul Reaper Wrote: And where did the cruisers come from in the first place?

1. This is a Das Wilde program. We wouldn't set things into motion without the necessary backup already in place.
2. Rheinland is still at war with Liberty (unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible). Rheinland raiding parties would still be very much active. Doesn't seem to far a push that there would be one that could get to Texas at short notice, or even be in Texas looking for targets of opportunity. It's a small patrol after all, hardly an invasion fleet. And maybe a cruiser is a bit much, but hell, we like to get a chance to fly our various different ships. If it comes down to a case of the cruisers being too unrealistic for you, well hell, let's just have some more gunboats. Again, since I never got anything negative back from you about what I wrote in skype, how was I to know?

Of course I do. Sure, maybe this should have happened only in Hudson, or maybe Bering, but Texas gives the option for bases, such as Sugarland in this instance, to be involved.

As for the time and space thing, this is interplanetary space we're talking about, regardless of the fact it's a core system. If you're wanting to go down the reality route, it's going to take bloody ages (ie hours probably) for any vessel to get to the fight, considering the distances involved. It's not going to take the few seconds, or minutes, that it actually takes us as players to get from A to B. As for the lanes, yes, it doesn't take us long to get to a lane, but it sure would do in reality. The time it would take for a short fight between a couple of cruisers, compared to the time it would take for other ships to cross interplanetary space, would be tiny, in reality

Reality...... Hmmm, we're playing a space shooter game here. Yes there is an RP storyline that ties everything together, and within that storyline we do our best to have fun. We all like flying different ships. We all like a bit of a scrap (well, most do) and I'm pretty sure we all like a bit of enjoyable RP and fun. I'm not wanting to force you, or anyone, into any sort of situation where you fell you're getting the short straw. I'm not looking to metagame or powergame anyone into anything. We're here to tell stories, I think. That's the basis for any RP scenario. To me, it's those stories that are important.

What I'm trying to do is spark some interest in a story. It's not an important story, and I'm doubtful it will ever become one. But it is something that people can get involved in if they want to. That's all I'm trying to do. It's fair enough if you don't like it, I guess.

I hope what is written above doesn't seem confrontational. I'm really not wanting to railroad anyone into anything. I just hope for folks to get some fun out of the events

Can you replace that LPI gunboat with a few snubs, so some of us might join? We've some people willing to participate but just not with a dull gb.
The liner will probably be LPI-Pelican.Bay, flown (probably) by Space. To be confirmed.

RE: A shot in the dark, Part Two - An event for the LSF, LPI, RM and Das Wilde - Stoat - 02-28-2014

Sure thing. GB replaced with three Guardians or Ravens Talons. I've removed the Wilde GB too and replaced with more Wraiths too (if we can field them). This may well turn into one hell of a furball......... It's hurting my head

RE: A shot in the dark, Part Two - An event for the LSF, LPI, RM and Das Wilde - Haste - 02-28-2014

Hurray. Signing up as LPI-SWAT-R.Mizushima[G], Guardian, again.
