Totally 'Generic' Ships - Vulkhard Muller - 02-11-2014 Idea:
So I have been thinking, why can't there be 'Generic Civilian' Ships? Like say a few ships that are so generic or have a background that is written in such a way that They could logically be 'tinkered' with to allow them to use both Gallic and Sirian equipment at 100% Clarification: I am not saying " IDF/EFL/Solar/GMS/GRN/GRP need sirian ships" or anything of the sort. This is completely for Freelancers. Possible Candidates: One of the first ships that popped into my head when I considered this was the Raven's Talon. According to its Lore (Unless it has recently been changed) it was built by the IMG. IMG have at least minimal connection to Gallia and if I am not mistaken IDF Gets 75% with their tech. So Why could the RT Not become a ship that flows freely between Sirian and Gallic Freelancers? The Wasupu/Renzu Shipline in general: Designed by Renzu and supposedly "a staple ship in Kusari space" Is it really impossible some prospecting French-lancer decided he wanted to give on a spin? Renzu is technical enough that I am sure if given the proper equipment they could make the Wasupu Compatible with Gallic Equipment. Big Edit: I was reading the infocard and I realized that the Marauder could be a candidate according to its lore Quote:An ancient testament to frugal ship design, the Marauder has been in production in one fashion or another for centuries. The simple design is unmatched in simplicity and maintenance, in many cases leaving environmental support to what the pilot can haul into his cockpit, in turn vastly increasing its demand amongst gearheads looking for a vessel which can be reliably tinkered without overwhelming fear of catastrophic failure. In fact, most 'standard' vessels of the class are simply hand downs which have undergone similar process. And its Sell points in New Berlin/Omega 49/( Somewhere else I cannot remember right now) make is some what feasible as an option. More Clarification:
Edit: Just checked the Tech Chart Council too will fall under this so Council tech as well could be discussed here. Keep the discussion civil RE: Totally 'Generic' Ships - Pancakes - 02-11-2014 Put some RP behind it with those who are responsible for the manufacturing of the ships - and sure. Otherwise- nope. Otherwise- nope. I figured that was a give-in but that's not the point, the point is, does it seem reasonable to allow these ships to have this ability? Otherwise- nope. Specifically these ships? No. Raven Talon is a generic fighter that is built by many factions. In fact since FP 4 was moved to LN hands, it's now not even sold on any IMG base. And if Renzu shipline should get compatible with Gallic stuff? Up to Renzo corp. They are owned by IND, and I am sure that if you wish to initiate further RP with them as to getting the tech compatible they would be glad to. RE: Totally 'Generic' Ships - Omi - 02-11-2014 (02-11-2014, 03:10 PM)Vulkhard Muller Wrote: I am ONLY asking for them to be able to use Pot-De-Fer/Carbines at 100% ( 90% actually due to Freelancers being the only ones to use them who would get 90% on Gallic tech any way). I really have to ask the burning question here: why? Carbines and PDFs are both strong candidates for the worst guns in the entire mod. Without a retuning of their stats, I couldn't ever see this change being made use of, unless someone really wanted to RP a Raven's Talon/Wasupu Gallic Freelancer. You will always, always be better off using Sirian guns. RE: Totally 'Generic' Ships - Coin - 02-11-2014 if you're using gallic guns, then you're advertsing your chumminess with gallia - why not fly a ship from there and avoid the powerdrain? Thing is either way Your getting a nerf because all Gallic Civilian stuff is " Coporate" Much like the Other 4 houses Civ guns 90% will reside no matter what. And I think most people can tolerate that. Edit: Also their ships are Bricks. They are huge. RE: Totally 'Generic' Ships - Coin - 02-11-2014 even compared to a templar? thats a big round blob of a space-fish. Id compare it more to a Sideways BHG Ship honestly. and Temp's Big but its got the armor these things are like paper in my opinion. Check them out on Single Player, you can buy their HF on I believe Planet New Paris. RE: Totally 'Generic' Ships - Coin - 02-11-2014 don't frog ships have boosted powerplants to overcome the hideous inefficiency of state-sponsored french engineering? |
