HM&S Announcement - Keioff Xanjer - 03-16-2014 ______________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________ Ladies & Gentlemen As some of you may know, we have already announced the launch of Horizon Exploration. Contrary to expectations, the operations of Horizon Mining & Survey will not be terminated. Instead, we will make a slight shift in direction and hopefully move the whole company safely into the future. HM&S was first established under IMG license in the early 60's. Since then, Mr. Noburu has joined the zoners and moved his operations from Java station to Freeport 10 in Tau-37. Starting out, the company only had 2 goals.
The company didn't exactly take off like a rocket. Finding it harder than expected to discover new fields, a lot of wasted effort was put in to several new prototype vessels. Without being able to find the right mix between mining- and combat abilities, the focus was shifted back towards mining and for many years, R&D took the backseat to steady and secure income. In the late 90s, it was decided that R&D would once again become the main focus of the company and that no expenses should be wasted on maintaining the derelict mining vessels. Unfortunately, the transition didn't go as planned. The coffers very running low at an unexpected pace and no scientific breakthroughs were really achieved. In the beginning of the new century, a closed meeting was held. The purpose of the meeting was to devise a plan for the future of the company. To this end, two new branches, called HoX and A.M.I were formed. The subsidiary called Horizon Exploration was established to begin development of plans and material for a deep-space exploration mission. This branch was also assigned the function of gathering technology for the HM&S research department to analyse and improve upon. Another subsidiary, dubbed Automated Mining Industries, was opened to streamline the mining operations. The company hired an outstanding team to program an operating system that could control a mining vessel and be maintained by just one technician. Moving into the future, the company is hoping to coordinate its operations in a manner that allows mining operations to fund our missions and advanced research into new technologies. HM&S will mainly be focused on administrative matters and the security of all assets of HM&S and it's subsidiaries. DATA: ------ Horizon Mining & Survey - HM&S| Est.: 761 A.S. Needing to funds its research department, HM&S created this branch. Refitting mining ships with advanced motors and electronics, the cost of maintaining its mining operations have been significantly lowered. The :A.M.I: units have an advanced command recognizion protocol and are able to handle transactions on the spot through its Automated Response System. All questions or communications concerning :A.M.I: must be directed to the HM&S headquarters. Technical Information: Our units are running on our own software, called Automated Mining Operating System (AMOSTM) to take care of navigation and ship functions and has an automated response system (A.R.S.) to handle communication. As we want to be sure that our units remain in the best possible condition, 1 technician must allways be present to maintain our units when they are operational. To ensure repairs can be made on the spot, each unit must carry 1 of each of the following parts:
No unit may undock if these 2 requirements are not met. Parts and Crew are either supplied by HM&S HQ at request or flown to the location of the unit by other means. |
