Being that large-scale conflicts between warring Houses doesn't seem to be in vogue, it seems to me that espionage would play a large part in the tensions.

I, for one, would love to find a way to RP in-game espionage. The possibilities to involve people could be plentiful - Smugglers and Traders moving spies/stolen military equipment over system borders. Pirates could be contracted for Privateering. The respective Militaries, Security Forces, and Police would have a lot more RP-work regarding scanning. They might have to ask why a transport only has one passenger, or maybe someone catches their interest (one VIP amongst passengers).

This is all just off the top of my head, so I'd love to get some people smarter than I to weigh in on the idea.

Well, I'd say that there are people already playing these aspects of the story in game. The thing is that you can't come to the forums and talk about it because of metagaming. If someone said, "Oi, I'm playing a spy." Next day people would find a way to KoS the guy where he's supposed to be spying.

People have been griped at for that before. Something along the lines of,

"U JOYN MEH FACSHUN SO U CAN SPY AND GET MEH KEELED? AND U STEEL TEH BANK?! AND U PWN MEH WITH THEM?!?!? REEEHH! *smashes keyboard*".

It's doable, just not recommended.

Well, I'd say that as far as chivalry goes. Play a spy from OUTSIDE of factions. Make an independent guy and just poke around. Don't metagame espionage, that's ugly as hell.

Unless of course both Faction Leaders agree to it which in the case of that would have to be VERY VERY monitored to prevent the said spy from doing things that would warrant a sanction...
