The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-13-2006

She tried her hardest to stare directly into the sun and although she was squinting, it was impossible. She wondered to herself exactly what the sun of the New York system looked like and despite textbook pictures, she was still unconvinced. She could see neutron stars, so why not regular ones? Underneath the sun was her favorite place to nap she said quite often especially since there was no up or down in space.

Her thoughts were interupted by her ice cream cone melting down to her hand which stained the bandage that covered it. Her black cat like ears lowered in distaste as her free hand took the ice cream cone. She hated the bandage even if it did match her black short sleeved shirt. Her left hand momentarily wavered above her shorts and then caught the railing, wiping it off there rather than her own clothes. She looked upon the metal railing and in the reflection saw her own white hair and pale skin.

Her 7th birthday had come and gone and the only thing she had recieved was a change of the bandage and a few credits to spend. One of the things she had spent it on was the ice cream she was now holding along with a bag of gummy bears which she had in her backpack. She was quite used to traveling often and loved to see new places and above all else, she loved to watch her father fight. For a moment she looked at the ice cream and remembered her mothers words to share good things with others.

She looked to her left at the beach where many people bathed in the sun and where the line of shops were. She looked directly behind her at the shop she had bought the ice cream from. Then she looked to her right at a towering figured leaning on the railing. She liked the big black boots, but she hated the the rest of the dull colored gear. The vest, the belt, the gloves, it all could go. What absolutely had to go was the helmet which masked the figure completely. So she did what she thought neccessary and offered the rest of the ice cream.

"Father, would you like some of my ice cream?" She looked up at him with her yellowish eyes eagerly. Her father looked down to her for a moment, his left hand reaching delicately to the cone in her hands. She always noted that his left arm was shaky and she had heard that pirates had captured him and tortured him. One of the things they had done was inscribe their signitures on his arm, with razors. Her father lifted the ice cream cone and stared into it for a moment before dropping it over the railing into the sea.

"No Samantha, soldiers are not weak." She watched it as it slowly fell into the water. After a moment it resurfaced and began to distill. She looked up into her fathers eyes which were fixed on hers. Glowing yellow eyes, the eyes of the hunter. She always felt eerie and had never seen him without those eyes, or rather, she didn't remember seeing him in any other way. Although she herself would get them, she had not seen a hint of them in herself yet. Her father stopped looking upon her and continued to look out to sea. She knew well what it was he was looking upon, but she could not remember precisely why. The wreckage of a ship that had entered the atmosphere backwards and landed in the sea. Although her father had a new ship, for some reason, he always came here to look at the old one. The doctors stated that she had a mild form of amnesia that was common for younger children who had been through as much as her. They never told her "what" she had been through and she could never remember.

Before she could regret trying to be nice to him, he turned and began walking away."Come on, we've got work to do."

"Yes father." She quickly fell in behind him, worried she might dissapoint him.

The occassional starflier could be heard taking off and landing in the backround as She made her way down the busy harbor. So many faceless people passed her by as she tried to keep up with her father who had gained distance between the two since they had left the pier. She could probably find her way to the spaceport from here however, she did not want her father thinking she was slow or weak so she kept her pace up. The crowd of people became thicker as she entered the spaceport and before she knew it, she had lost her father. She stopped to think for a moment which docking point they had stopped at.

"Hey, She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around in an instant her eyes meeting those of another pilot,"Are you lost little girl?" The man was wearing a white spacesuit with orange trim. Samatha could not prevent herself from showing distaste in the man's oddly colored boots, but admired the fact he wasn't wearing his helmet when in port.

She stared into the man's dark brown eyes as she spoke, trying not to show any fear of being lost,"No, my father just went out ahead of me." She pressed her hands underneath of her backpack's straps and pressed forward nervously. She noted a nametag on his suit which stated 'Angel Eyes'.

The man put his hand to his forehead lifting his short brown hair slightly as he thought for a moment. He then rubbed his clean chin and expressed his thoughts, "Well, which dock is your ship in?"

"The 4th dock," She responded,"I'm not sure of the name it's under but my father says the ship number is 19-8766-6026."

The pilot raised his right eyebrow and leaned on a counter, his hand lifting a data pad,"You remember your number, that's very surprising." He smiled as he began tapping the pad with his fingers.

"My father says it quite often." She looked over her shoulder and then back at the man. She would be late so as it is, but what would her father say? She could already imagine a lecture on being the fastest, the strongest and the overall best. She wished she could show her father one day that she was. "I don't want to dawdle, my father will be furious if i'm late."

The man seemed troubled and almost ignored her completely. He looked up at her and set the pad back down."You know your father only registered one person when you came into dock right?"

She didn't have time for someone being in her business, he was only making the punishment worse,"I'm sorry but I have to go." She turned and ran away towards the 4th gate.

"Wait!" She could hear the man, but his size made it much harder to maneuver through the crowds of people and it only took her a moment to lose him. Satisfied she would no longer be delayed, she made her way towards the ship. Her father would be very displeased, but maybe just maybe it wouldn't be physical punishment.

-----------

"Damn," The pilot hadn't even gotten more than a few steps before crashing into a group of people. After he had helped them gather their things up, he returned to the counter and viewed the data pad again."Hmm, Samantha. Definitely not a guys name. A bit young looking for me but cute nonetheless." He put the pad back once again and looked up through the glass roof spotting a hugenot as it took off."We will meet again, i'll make sure of it."

The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-16-2006

After jumping from the New York System to the Colorado system, Samantha looked out of the front viewport towards the sun. She could almost feel the difference in intensity, however, she was unsure of whether there really was a difference. Her hand met the bruise on her cheek and lightly rubbed it while her left hand rested gently on the arm rest of a small chair stationed in the middle of the bridge. She looked to her left towards her father whose gaze never left the viewport. Although her father wasn't very nice, he did let her sit in the commander's seat and for that she was quite happy. Her father usually communicated orders through her and she always assumed it was for practice so when the crew asked her for coordinate info, she was not surprised. Of course, she always had to ask her father what the answer would be.

She looked around the bridge of the ship and smiled slightly at many colors on the consoles, watching as they flashed many different colors. The bridge was actually very open and the viewport was made up of monitors to ensure that a stray shot wouldn't destroy the entrie command structure. It didn't matter whether they were looking directly into space or not, it looked real enough for her. On the bridge there were many different Officers, they all seemed busy and as a result, she didn't feel it was nessecary to learn of any one of them. She was sure that her father knew a few of them if not all of them.

"Where are we headed father?" She dropped her hand from her cheek and let it rest as well. Her father seemed lost in thought.

"New Tokyo. We need to earn some money." Her father answered her but gave no details as to how he planned on going about getting the money. Samantha couldn't recall what her father did exactly, but she had never questioned him. The reason was because of what followed after her question, the bruise still warm under the hot lights of the bridge."But before we go there, we're going to mine some silver."

She was relieved to hear her father say they would be doing honest work. The image of her father being brutal and harsh faded slightly as the ship began to turn off the tradelane and into a thin field of asteriods."Does silver sell well father?" She did not get a response as she watched several asteriods burst into smaller pieces, most of which contained silver. The process didn't last too long before one of the crew members announced incoming pirates. She looked up to her father for guidance on what to do but his fierce gaze forced her to reconsider asking any questions about what should be done. If they were actually going to attack the cruiser then there had to be a large sum of them or they had to be incredibly stupid.

She watched as several ships came very close to colliding with the ship, however they quickly changed course. Although she was unable to see them, she looked up to her father to see where they were and watched as he looked over his shoulder. She was unaware of their intentions, but guessed that they would be back. Sure enough the ship began to rock slightly as fire impacted the shields on the engines of the cruiser. Again she looked up to her father for guidance and this time her father uttered two low words that only she could hear. After hearing this she returned her gaze forward and spotted several more pirate ships making strafing runs.

"Pirates opening fire, Captain?" The leading weapons officer turned back towards Samantha who had already come up with her answer.

"Kill them, Kill them all." She could almost feel her father smile.

The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-16-2006

Samantha watched with deep satisfaction as another pirate's shield fell and the resulting barrage of gatling blasts sent him sputtering into an asteriod. There were still many more to deal with, but so far the pirates hadn't reduced the shield of their ship past three fourths max capacity. She was quite happy to be commanding the ship as if it was her own and everytime she pointed to another pirate, they would simple cease to exist. To her it was a child's game and was rewarded with her father's hand on her shoulder, but the game soon became dangerous as new pirates entered the sector. The leading sensor tech identified them as Mollys.

Mollys? She barely knew who they were and as she recalled it, they didn't hang out in the colorado system so they had to be here on specific business. No sooner had she thought this than the communications officer reported they were being hailed. She listened as a bit of static followed by an older man's voice. She didn't want to take off the viewscreen just to speak with him when determining the next pirate to die was more important.

"You thought you could escape, but now, we're back for you and the ship you stole." The voice was very angry. She looked up to her father to see what he would say, but he said nothing, only looked down at her and then back at the viewscreen as though they were no threat. She was terrified that they might be too strong for their one cruiser and as the numbers came out, it was against another cruiser, several gunboats and several light fighters. This added to the number of pirates and increased the odds against them.

"We're surrounded, should we run?" One of the tech's asked and looked back toward Samantha for advice. In turn Samantha looked to her father again and this time she was punished for it with a backhand across her face.

"Your insecurity is going to get your crew killed." She could feel her father's gaze on the back of her neck momentarily before it left."Open fire on the lead gunboat, broadside them."

Samantha felt her father leave her side to give orders, she stared at her lap and watched as tears fell into it. Her semi long hair vieled her face from the rest of the crew and made her blind to what was happening. She didn't care, she was too upset to watch anyhow. The constant shaking from new fire made her nearly fall out of the chair. She huddled up into a ball on the chair and held her hands over her face, ashamed of her failure.

----------

Although his ship was incredibly large, it housed less personnel than one of half it's size. That was, unless it was full of cargo. He watched as a marine walked past him with his weapon drawn who seemed semi nervous as well. The sight was very common on his prison liner especially when they were coming into range with their objective point. The prison liner wasn't designed for combat but it still had enough turret mounts to protect itself from the many pirates that plagued the region. The turrets, however, could not protect his ship from running into asteriod after asteroid. The ship was safe, but inside it, he held on tight to a nearby railing as he lifted a data pad into view. The ship shuttered and suddenly up became down, the marine flipped and then tumbled head over heels and finnaly came to a rest back on the floor of the deck. He struggled to his feet and cursed lightly.

"Guess you were right, definitely should have magnets or anti gravity or something on the bridge. It gets really shaky up here." The marine removed a large number of credits from his utility belt and handed them to him."Damn Angel Eyes, you must be used to flying through shaky spots."

He smiled at the marine and took the credits and pocketed them with his free hand watching as the marine took up residence next to him with his strong hand on the rail."Been flying a large number of ships and you have no idea how long it takes to get used to big ships flying through thick asteriod fields. Try flying this baby through the badlands."

"No thanks. I prefer shooting the pirates right here, that way they dont' have any shields."

"Tell that to the marines who have to board enemy installations." He patted the marine on the back and began making his way down the short hallway towards the bridge."Now if you'll excuse me, I think we're coming close to our contact. I dont' think she'll be pleased to see me again so soon but I have to be 100 percent positive."

"Sounds like a lot of fun, i'll be waiting right here....." The marine gripped the rail even harder as the ship shook slightly.

"Oh i'm positive you'll be there....might not be on your feet though." Angel Eyes smiled as he left the struggling marine and entered the deck of his ship. He quickly sat down in his favorite chair as they approached a heated battle."Not done yet I see. I'll just have to lend a hand." He could only see one gunboat and a Hugenot cruiser firing at another. There were plenty of light fighters flying about, but the occasional stray shot seemed to be wearing their prescense down. The lone cruiser was at around 3/4 hull capacity and the pirate cruiser was almost untouched. The odds were against them so he decided to do something quite drastic to help out.

The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-18-2006

Samantha listened as a siren went off indicating the shields on their ship was falling past the halfway line. The rocking of the ship did not cease but for a moment when the ship passed behind an asteriod, only a moment later the asteriod no longer existed and the shaking continued. She peeked out from her hands and spotted the gunboat her father had ordered to attack. It was there for a moment and then gone the next. Her father must have launched a full compliment of missles at the smaller ship and due to it's lack of shields it must've been destroyed quite easily. She didn't want to look at her father after what had just taken place but she wanted to get better so she watched him. He maneuvered around the deck assisting his crew in making calculations and ordering new targets on fighter craft while the energy reserves regenerated.

Suddenly the warning Siren for the enemies missles came on. A very large number of missles made their way across the empty space and towards the ship. Samantha grabbed onto the chair she sat in tightly and watched as her father grabbed onto a nearby panel. The shock of the missles hitting wrenched her from the seat and threw her to the deck. She couldn't see for a full second before her vision returned. She looked around the bridge but could not spot her father anywhere. She sat up in the chair and looked forward to the viewport. Everyone was staring at her as though waiting for her command.

"Our shields are gone and our hull is failing, what should we do?"The whole crew was waiting on her command. Where had her father gone? Had she been knocked unconscious? There wasn't enough time for all the questions to be answered, she recalled what her father had done and stood up.

"Fire all weapons at the last gunboat, take evasive action behind asteriods until we can restore shields." She waited and watched as the officers pressed buttons on their boards. She looked directly out the viewport at the gunboat and watched as it attempted to avoid the onslaught of missles. Only half of the missles did any real damage but the damage was enough to cripple the ship. When the main cannon came upon the small gunboat it was too late for it to make any more manuevers as it burst into flames and exploded. Now all they needed to do was take out the cruiser. Unfortunately there was no energy left and their hull was nearly breached.

How could she find a way out of the this situation? She could try to run, but she wouldn't get very far with all the cruise disrupters flying around. She thought for a moment and just when she had a good idea, the final cruiser came under fire by another source. A very large prison liner moving at maximum speed burst from the asteriod field and collided with the smaller ship. The shields on the prison liner flared up and held as it pushed the cruiser hard into an asteriod. The cruiser was unfortunate enough to lack the shielding system of it's counterpart and for a moment it seemed to hold together but a few well placed shots split it open. Samantha smiled to herself as the rest of the pirate vessels scattered. She spotted one moving suspiciously toward the wreckage and quickly she ordered the shot. The space the ship was previously occupying was filled with gunfire and a moment later nothing.

So who were the guys who had just helped her? She could not see any specific organization. Her thoughts were interupted by a hail from the ship to which she quickly responded to.

"Ya know, you shouldn't run away from someone while they're talking to you." Samantha sighed as she saw the man from earlier appear on the viewscreen. What luck she thought to herself. The only question she could think of was why he was following her.

"I'm well aware of this, just why exactly are you here?"

"Your ship number was supposed to aid in capturing a Vip and I see you've done nicely. Ya know, you should really consider Joining the PK."The man smiled back at her.

"P what?"She had no idea what he was talking about just as her father came over her shoulder.

"Peacer Keepers, err...some of them call us People Killers though, but either way we're a mercenary group trying to make a name for ourselves, Interested?

"Sure, sounds like a good idea, but first, lets finish this transaction." Her father let his hands rest on her shoulders. Samantha wondered what he was talking about. She had been tricked believing they were out to get silver.

The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-19-2006

Samantha watched the viewscreen as the prison liner tractored in several targets. Her father held her firmly in place as if to make sure she watched and listened."Of course, we would have attended to this matter ourselves but seeing the position you were in made it easier just to hire you. I'm happy to see that we were ontime." The man on the side viewport turned around and for a moment sent out a few orders she herself couldn't hear.

"Yes, it was good to meet you at manhatten. Running from them wouldn't have helped for much longer. I knew the asteriod field would be perfect to fight them in seeing as how they usually lack shields."Her father continued to hold her firm as the prison liner parked just off to the side of their ship.

"Hmmm....if you're interested in joining PK, there will be a train doing diamond runs over the next few weeks." After he finished his sentence, the prison liner began to pull off towards the nearby station."It would be great to have someone like you in Pk. Angel Eyes out." The communication dropped just as quickly as it had come up. Still confused, Samantha turned to her father whose grip had loosened.

"What was that about Father? Why were those people chasing you?" She backed up a bit from him to see his face of what little she could.

"That's none of your business." Her father turned around and began walking to the back of the deck. He ordered the crew to head to the california system and stepped through the door from the deck to a long hallway.

"Father, I live on this ship and I believe I deserve to know whats going on." She took a chance with speaking out in such a way as she tailed her father.

"You're right, you deserve to know whats going to happen to you." He turned toward her, his left hand appeared to grip the thin air tightly. She swallowed as a few seconds passed without him speaking further.

"So what was that all about?" She pushed the question.

"None of your business." He turned away from her and continued to walk down the hall.

"You just said you were going to tell me." Her ears stiffened slightly and her tail became erect. She could feel her father's blood in her veins."So tell me." There was a hint of anger in her voice. He didn't stop and she was forced to follow, her anger overpowering her fear of punishment. She didn't speak until they reached his qaurters where he stopped in front of it.

"Don't follow." He didn't even look at her as he entered and shut the door. He had left the door unlocked. She was unsure of what she should do as she could feel her anger fade to insecurity. If she opened the door it very well might lead to punishment to which she was used to, but it might also lead to something worse.

"What should I do?" She asked herself and looked at the door. She couldn't recall anything before arriving at planet Manhatten and the birthday she had spent there. She tried hard to remember her mother's face and what she would say, but she could not. Ever since she could remember she just wanted her father to be satisfied with what she could do, but nothing ever seemed to be enough. She felt her legs weaken and fail causing her to fall to her knees as she felt the tears start to come. The door in front of her opened abrutly and roused her from what few memories she had.

"Are you going to cry the whole way?" She had barely looked up when her face gripped her by her collar and lifted her into the air.

"No, father I was just going, please dont' punish me!" She gripped his left arm by the wrist and closed her eyes expecting the usual punishment, but suddenly she had a feeling of vertigo followed by the softness of the captain's bed. She opened her tear filled eyes and looked up at him. He closed the door and locked it before approaching her. His eyes were still glowing yellow but they didn't seem as fierce as before. He sat down next to her and looked directly forward.

"You need to learn more on your own, I'm not teaching you properly. I'm sending you with that PK convoy, it will help relations and who knows, you might earn enough money for your own ship."He reached back to her and dropped a data pad into her lap. "Some guys from PK will be escorting you to the New Tokyo system to sell diamonds. You will then work for them and give them 30 percent of what you make. You can keep the rest." She was afraid to speak for fear that he had something else to say to her. He stood and walked over to a desk with a computer built into it and sat in the chair that belonged to it.

"Yes father." She spoke and looked over to her father who seemed very busy.

"You will not see me again for a long time. This ship will be decomissioned and I will be dissapearing for a very long time and during this time, you will not speak of me to anyone. Is that clear?" He looked up at her and she nodded to him."When you finnally see, you will find me." Her father stood up and headed for the door."Avoid anyone who is looking specifically for you by your last name. They know something you don't." He opened the door and stepped outside."And one last thing." Her ears perked up."One day, you'll be a great captain." With that he left and the door closed behind him. Samantha felt much better after hearing her father's compliment and she smiled happily. She didn't mind that things would be getting very hectic over the next few days, instead she looked forward to it. The only thing that played on her curiousity was who would be looking for her and why? She put the thoughts aside and pressed her face into the pillow on the bed recalling her father's words over and over again.

The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-19-2006

Again she sat in front of the railing that looked out towards the sea. She stared at the wrecked ship which had not been moved or trashed by the nearby city. What was inside of it? Perhaps some of her lost memory or just some charred remains of her old tedy bear. One day she would have to visit and check to see if the precious bear was still in existance. At the moment the sky was clouded and grey and the sun did not shine down upon her and little droplets of rain began coating her hair with a fine mist. Perhaps it was time to go back to the spaceport and find the escort crew along with the man from before.

It took her quite a time to make her way to the spaceport and by the time she was inside it had begun to pour rain. Her backpack had become soaked in an attempt at shielding herself from the rain. The only time she liked water was during a shower but she refused a bath because of her instincts and fear of drowning. She sighed and listened to rain on the roof of the building as she sat down on a nearby bench, trying to dry herself off. She suddenly felt as though someone's eyes were fixiated on her. She looked around the spaceport and at first saw nothing, but after a moment she noticed someone in the crowd looking at her. She didn't recognize them and now that she had looked up, they began to move her way. It was a man with a shaved head and a goate as well as a pair of shades that made her feel as though she knew him from somewhere.

"Samantha?" The man called out to her and started to run towards her,"Ms. Grey?" Her father's words jogged her memory and she quickly took off running."Wait!" She could hear the man behind her, so close that he probably could have grabbed her tail and might have if she didn't duck through a baggage transporter. She turned to look at the man who almost crashed into it, but managed to evade it. Her feet carried her up an escalator and onto the second floor landing towards the lobby of the spaceport. She didn't have time to admire the beauty of the river between her and the other side as she ran down the long hallway lined with stores and bathrooms. She saw a large bear on a store and remembered her gummy bears. Although normally they wouldnt be anything more than sticky, they were soaking wet and would make a perfect tool for escape.

Just as she removed the bag of gummy bears, her path intersected with a woman. "Woah there, in a rush are we?" The woman reached down and helped Samantha up, but didn't let go. "Samantha?" Another one of the people who was looking for her.

"Hold her! That's Ms. Grey!" The man had caught up to her and appeared as though he could continue the chase for a very long time.

"You don't know how long we've been looking for you." The woman's light blue eyes stared into hers. Samantha watched as the woman's hand began to move backwards toward her belt, where there hung a knife. She knew well when she was in danger and quickly bit the woman's hand forcing her to release her grip. The woman let out a cry of pain as Samantha ducked between her knee's and began dumping her gummy bears on the floor below and around her. She smiled and looked back as the woman turned around and stepped directly on one. She lost her balance and was about to fall when the man came up from behind and prevented it. They exchanged a word or two and then were on her in an instant.

She was running out of space to go, where was the man she was looking for? Why did she have to be so popular today? As though her hopes were answered, she noted the man from PK and quickly latched onto him. "They're after me, you gotta hide me!" Samantha called up to the man who was just now noticing her.

"Well I'll be, you're early." Angel Eyes smiled down at her and waved a data pad to a nearby gaurd.

"People are coming for me, we have to go!" She whimpered up at him and grabbed his hand. The people were approaching quite fast.

"Hmmm....they look very interested in you.....think you'll fetch quite a price...."

"YOU MEANIE!" She attempted to kick his shin but his reflexes were too fast and his foot lifted above hers and pressed it into the floor.

"Relax, we're going, right now." He smiled and turned her through the metal detection gate and then going through himself. "They can't come any further." Samantha smiled as a conveyor began to pull them away from the people. She watched happily as they argued with the gaurd, but to no avail. She sighed relief and leaned into the man who happily scratched her ears."So....who exactly were they?"

The Hunter - Sanguine Frozen Boy - 06-21-2006

The large train had quite a heavy shadow that made samantha feel very small. Although she had seen bigger ships and even been in bigger ones, the large train was very long in comparison and therefore it had a much longer shadow than she was used to. She had temporarily escaped the people pursuing her and now the commander of PK looked her directly in the face with the intention of finding out who they were.

"So, who were those people?" He asked and Samantha shook her head side to side.

"I dont' know, my father just told me to avoid anyone who knew my full name." She looked up to him as he pressed his hand against his forehead.

"I know your full name, so you going to run away from me too?" Samantha seemed startled but then remembered that he was a group of mercenaries and mercenaries usually made it there business to know everything about anything that involved them.

"Well no, but I trust my father's words." She crossed her arms."He said to me while I was on the other ship not to trust anyone."

The man looked puzzled for a moment but then he shook his head and spoke,"Well then I guess you can't trust me then huh?"Samantha looked slightly flustered at this and her eyebrows lowered. "Relax, i'm joking with you. Course you can trust me."

"We'll see, with time maybe." She looked at him, still slightly angry.

"Ah well fine, anyhow, here's the gameplan. Running Diamonds from Dresden to Newtokyo, then we'll get...."

"Spare me the details, all I got to do is make sure the monkeys who control your ship do so in an orderly fashion, right?"

"Yeah, basically. I'll be following behind ya till New Tokyo, but then I gotta go get a new ship." He put his hand out like his current ship and emphasised with his other hand."Prison liners are good for transporting criminals, not holding their own in a combat situation. I'm thinking, liberty cruiser and then maybe a battlestar." He smiled and seemed very confident about what he was saying.

"Er....sorry but i'm still learning." Samantha's ears twitched a bit when a small horn went off.

"Ah well, time to board, you go ahead, we'll see how good a captain you really are." He didn't give her a chance to ask questions as he was already engaged with another conversation. Seemed to her that his crew on the prison liner was still unloading criminals from the liner. She looked over at them and noted that a few of them looked very familiar. Perhaps all pirates looked the same she thought to herself and then shook the thought from her mind. She finnally had a chance to prove what a great captain she could be. With that, she jumped down and eagerly followed up a ramp into the main compartment of the large train her father's words echoing in her head.

----------

"Hey Jason, I just have a quick question." The leader of PK called over to one of the marines unloading prisoners. He appeared to be wearing very heavy looking boots, but upon further inspection, they were merely magnetic boots.

"Yeah sure, is it about my new boots cause I am loving them."

"No no, you were there when we picked up that last bounty right? The one in the asteriod field?" Jason shook his head slightly but not in dissagreement.

"How could I forget a trip like that."

"Well, you didn't by any chance see her father did you?"

"Who's father?"

"Samantha, the one who was commanding the ship." Jason shook his head and this time it was a positive no.

"Nope, did you?"

"No, but I guess he must've just been behind her or something." Angel Eyes leaned to the side and watched as Samantha boarded the ship. "People chasing her too...hmmm...I'll have to look up more info on her. Jason, go with her, make sure she doesn't die till I find out more ok?" He made a pointing motion towards the large train.

"What? Uh, ok. I don't like riding trains, they make me sick, but at least I'll get to use my new boots, yeah." Jason turned and walked slowly toward the ship.

"Yeah, and have fun. You look like you just been to a funeral or something." He smiled and looked back over his shoulder. The people from earlier were there and they were looking all over the place for Samantha. "Hmmm.....i'll have to look you two up as well." When the final prisoner had been taken off the ship he followed the ramp up to the opening. He glanced over to the large train as it took off and zoomed towards space. "Who exactly are you Ms. Grey. I wonder."

Although the cabin was full of beeping sounds, Samantha clutched a small pillow in her arms and slept through it all. The moment the light turned on however, she woke from her slumber immediately. Her ears twitched with annoyance as she sat up and yawned, stretching her arms into the air. She was still half asleep as she looked tiredly up at the intruder who had turned the lights on."Is it time already to start my day?"

A marine stood at the doorway, his shoes looked very large and the rifle he carried was almost ancient in design. "Captain has to get her bath and breakfast before the next cycle." The marine approached her bedside.

"Huh, cycle?" Samantha looked sleepily up at the marine and then down at her pajama's."Er, did you wash my clothes?"

The marine looked at her confused by her question but then shook his head,"Do I look like your maid?" Samantha's ears dropped a bit, forgetting that she no longer had the luxury of her old crew. The new one was very unorganized at the moment and smelled odd to her. Then again, anyone she knew smelled odd and seemed weird to her."Don't look so glum, I lied." He produced from a drawer nearby her favorite outfit.

She smiled happily and hadn't expected him to do something so nice seeing as how she didn't even know who he was. "Thank you so much. Who did you say you were again?"

"Ah, I'm Jason, I'm a marine and i'll be protecting you from....invaders should I say."

"Ok thanks again." Samantha stood there for a moment with her outfit in her arms looking around. "Um, where's the shower again?"

"Shower? Hah, you'd expect that wouldn't you? Not for the captain, all we got for you is a nice hot bath, it's already ready and everything."

She shivered in distaste at the thought of taking a bath as she detested them."Um, sure you don't have at least one?"

"Well sure we got showers, but you're a girl and unless you wanna go into the men's room...."

"No thank you, i'll take the bath." She interrupted him not wanting the conversation to go on any further."So where do I go for it? I've never been on a train before."

Jason pointed to the open door across the hall from her and gave her a pat on the back."Have fun." He grinned and she could see it through his helmet as she walked slowly across the hallway into the bathroom. At least the water was hot she thought. After a very quick and annoying bath that left the room soaked and also the marine who had to force her into it, Samantha followed the marine to a small room with a table in it. On the table was a plate with what appeared to be food, but of course it didn't look like eggs and bacon to her.

"Er..you don't have eggs and bacon with toast do you? Also, can I get some milk?"

Jason laughed very heartily as he patted her on the back and forced her into the chair."You be glad you get cereal missy. You don't want to see what your crew's eating."

Samantha had a few thoughts and after she was done thinking them she could no longer eat, but she did drink the milk to the cereal happily. After breakfast she felt slightly quesy, but the feeling passed as she made her way to the small bridge area where there was a few crewmenbers waiting for her. Finnally it was time to start her trip from Dresden to New Tokyo. She looked out of the viewport at the very dusty looking system of Dresden. The many volcanic rocks that gently dusted against the camera were of little interest. What interested her most was sitting in the captains seat which she did with glee. She smiled and looked at her crew as they stared back at her waiting for the first order.

"Onwards to new tokyo!" Samantha smiled as she pointed her finger towards the sun in the viewport, very happy to be commanding her own ship even at what she thought to be a young age. She sat up in her seat and eagerly watched as the ship passed through the first trade lane, however, by the time the second one had finished, she had passed out from lack of sleep. Jason was there over her shoulder and he snapped his fingers to wake her from the temporary slumber and remind her that she would have to get used to the lack of sleep as a captain.

"Captain cant' sleep but a few hours and when he does, he must sleep with one eye open." Jason patted her on the shoulder as she tried to regain composure.

"Aww....I can't control when I fall to sleep though sometimes...it just happens!" Samantha looked wearily up at him before looking forward as they entered the first gate. "Besides, train runs are long, boring and nothing ever happens right?" The first hint that she was wrong was when she got to the other side and another ship pulled directly up on the side of the prison liner that the leader of PK was in. She had seen it happen many times by ships that owned the sector, but it was clear this ship had no intention of simple 'checking' the cargo. A moment later the leader of PK came onscreen.

"This guy on my tail wants a hefty sum of credits that I don't really plan to deliver. We're going to try to run so keep your chin up on this one." Only a moment afterwards did the transmission shut off. Directly after this happened a radio communication came in.

"Your partner is negotiating your freedom right now, so if you'll pull off to the side it would be helpfull." The voice was heavily distorted by static and Samantha didn't dare try to bother with figuring out whether they were male or female, she instead watched as the prison liner attempted to escape. It made a quick boost towards the trade lane, but the smaller ship managed to disrupt it before he could make it through. She panicked for a moment but then she looked throughout the log file of all the ships in sector and noticed a few bounty hunters. She wasn't familiar with any of them, but she quickly typed in a short burst transmission to the available bounty hunters telling them that there was a bounty of small significance in the sector. Of course, she knew that the new vessel would probably escape and she wouldn't have to pay up.

Samantha smiled and began to purr as she spoke to the vessel. "Did.....Did you know there's a bounty on your head?" She could hear growling over the static and then the transmission ended. Of course it only took a few seconds for a few different ships to look their way before they began to open fire on the assailant. Samantha smiled up at a gunboat that passed in front of her viewport and she could almost wave to the captain. She was a bit busy as she aimed her ship for the trade lane that had now been reactivated. Her tail waved back and forth as the ship wavered under fire and then darted out of it. She had to admit, he was a good pilot.
