NPC relations and player intervention. - WesternPeregrine - 05-18-2014

There are many situations ingame were npc ships take certain stances against other npcs or players that would not be considered correct by authorities. Examples are few and far between but most of them can be considered bugs or limitations of the relations system, and addressed accordingly.

However, npc to npc actions are disregarded by the community as causes for behavior changes by the faction players towards the other factions, because they do not originate from player to player action.

In the strange case I would like to bring your attention to a "samura affiliated" organization is asking the Kusari government to take action against the IC, for perceived aggression against Hogosha assets.

While it's true that Roppongi base shoots the Hogosha npcs coming to planet New Tokyo, it does not affect the Hogosha players who travel the same area.

So I would like to ask you: Is this just worthy of a bug report, or is it a legitimate rp concern?

If Hogosha NPCs demand cargo, then even KSP stations will open fire. This is not a bug but rather gameplay relic fron vanilla.

I have been several times around New Tokyo, and it feels like Hogosha are red to IC, who starts shooting at the hogosha transports docking in NT, with these ones not making any reaction.

There are many other strange cases happening all around, like Hogosha npcs still siding with FA when these ones show up to attack the navy and police (and this as been already reported as a bug), GC npc trying to dock in Roppongi while being shot by all other npcs, as a few examples.

I feel that any of the faulty relations that can be tweaked should be so, and that none of these should have weight in player relations or actions, as the concept employed in this community is the reverse, that players should influence the npc relations.

Id say that kusari allowing an IC station that shoots at Hogosha, who are technically legal, is fairly unrealistic. However bear in mind its just as much fault from the Hogosha NPCs as they shoot the station too. So I dont think this is EXACTLY a bug, as the NPC rep system is working as intended, but its just intended wrong in this case.

I think the devs should just change it from hostile to no dock, like they eventually did with IMG and BMM, after everyone in Bretonia complained about the retarded firefights.
