kushan freighter replace - Jinx - 08-26-2008 off of the homeworld ships - and especially freighters - the kushan is probably still one of the most popular ones due to its OK stats ( the other one is the turanic freighter that is quite popular, too - but that one was remodelled by someone else from what i remember ) so i just made this quick model - its a basic design with a large cargo "belly". - since kushan ships are zoner ships ( at least they are developed by them - or something ) ... it got the light BW skin and some white parts, marking it as a rather civilian ship. - its very blocky and very much the size the "homeworld" variant had. ( so it fits into a docking bay in battleships etc ) the upper left picture ( framed in red ) shows the current kushan freighter - for those that don t know this ship. the new one features a easily visible cargobay door ( lower left picture ) - and the sideways thrusters are actually that - vertical thrusters ( well - there s no engine effect coming out - but still ) the design looks slightly similar to a pimped up CSV - but that doesn t mean its junkers:laugh:- its just a logical design haha. edit: textures look strange sometimes when the skin is reflecting. - the reason for that is that the graphic card adds a bloom effect on bright parts. kushan freighter replace - Boss - 08-26-2008 Machine entities take notes! To be honest, I think V-22 when I see that. Looks nice. kushan freighter replace - Jinx - 08-26-2008 uh - what? - whats v-22... kushan freighter replace - Boss - 08-26-2008 V-22 Osprey. It's a tilt-engine VTOL aircraft in the US Armed Forces. kushan freighter replace - Jinx - 08-26-2008 oh, you re right - it looks similar... i should become a military weapons designer. bet it took the US army billions of $ to come up with that design - and i made mine up just while i had lunch. looks like that thing really works - or it is a fake photo? never seen such a plane - why don t they just use a helicopter? or these whatsname - the british jets that can launch like a helicopter, too. kushan freighter replace - Boss - 08-26-2008 Reasoning behind the Osprey is this: Even though it can only carry half as many as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter (32 floor loaded troops, or 24 on benches), it can make three trips in the same time. It takes off like a helicopter, then transitions to horizontal flight once it's around 200 feet up. Maximum speed: 275 knots (316 mph, 509 km/h) Cruise speed: 214 knots (246 mph, 396 km/h) at sea level Range: 879 nmi (1,011 mi, 1,627 km) (unrefueled) Combat radius: 370 nmi (430 mi, 690 km) Ferry range: 2,417 nmi (2,781 mi, 4,476 km) Service ceiling 26,000 ft (7,925 m) It's a LOT faster than a Black Hawk: Never exceed speed: 193 knots (222 mph, 357 km/h) Maximum speed: 159 kt (183 mph, 295 km/h) Cruise speed: 150 kt (173 mph, 278 km/h) Combat radius: 368 mi (320 nmi, 592 km) Ferry range: 1,380 mi[13] (1,200 nmi, 2,220 km) Service ceiling 19,000 ft (5,790 m) That Brit jet is the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II. The Armed Forces spent 50 billion to design the thing, with a 70mil flyaway cost. Not a fake, the craft's real. EDIT: Crap...I just wrote an exposition on an aircraft in a ship dev thread... kushan freighter replace - Tenacity - 08-26-2008 hm... looks very junker like (which I dont mind at all, more ships for us! =) I think it was turkish that made a CSV-style Large Junker Freighter as a replacement for the turanic freighter model, and it was pretty good too. |
