This i saw in another thread and i was wondering would doing so be considered as speedmodding...since if you are chasing an enemy and in group, slingshotting away you could catch up upon exit. OR a trader could escape from pirates while forming on their escortees...

It's been done before and no ban occurred.

yes - players use it effectivly - meaning, they group up... - E-kill... and fire a CD... that manouver would usually throw them back if the CD missed. - but since they are in a group, they catch up again with a speed of 420.

it is definitely an exploit of game mechanics - but yes, never been banned and players do it as if its the most common thing to do.

so - is it fair? - not really, its an exploit
does it mess up the balance - not really... its taking benefits from being grouped up.

I support anything that involves grouping, teamwork, cooperation... Slingshoting however does give you higher than 350 speed, even when you're not in formation...

You get behind a teammate, wait till your speed get's to 420, hit escape and engine kill almost at the same time, and you retain about 380 to 400 speed,... It's an exploit, I like it thou. Let those who know how use it as another trick of the trade. It surtenly isn't moding, as everyone can do it.

I've used it before, e-kill helps loads if your in a cap ship and trying to catch up with a vessel whose fleeing, and all you can do is thrust as you've already engaged.

It depends, if EVERYONE can and will use this, then it's fair, as lawfuls/unlawfuls/anyone can do it vs. others. But, it depends on the descretion of the admins i guess ...

no fesablely safe engine would with a max of 350 overload to 420 ithe way i see it its a tactic if cruise catch speed was reduced to something more realistic in formations like 365 380 mabye

It's allowed, and it's an exploit.

Amusingly, it's also prone to backfiring. The guy you're chasing can also EK and fire a CD.

Thing is, HIS CMs are behind him and thus have better chances of interdicting your disruptor.

not nessarraly an exploit remember the autonav computers are far far advanced if the engine speed was reduced to somewhing realistic it could be applyed as useable as the ships computer takes over formations it can be roleplayed as pilot cleared overburn just have a limite like as i said 365 mabyew 380 look at starwars or trek they bypass engine saftys all the time or stargate

The trader who made that video was caught by the speed cheat detection tool for it. He was also banned (account) and regardless the explains to admins, still banned without answer.

=> 200M at least lost for it.

This is advanced piloting 101, I wouldnt call this an exploit.
