Liste des vaisseaux de la Marine Royale - Wildkins - 08-14-2014

Bonjour, officiers de la Marine Royale Gauloise. I have been commissioned by the Grande Marechal herself to provide a complete technical summary of all vessels used or capable to be utilized by the Royal Navy. From here on, a complete technical specifications list of every fighter craft, bomber, gunboat, capital vessel, and transport will be detailed in full along with a combat summary / evaluation, preferred loadout, and final remarks. A rating will also be placed to determine their adequacy compared to their Sirian counterparts, as well as other ships used by...more questionable Gallic organizations.

Without further ado, let us begin, oui?

XJ-1 "Caracal" Royal Navy Light Fighter

Summary
Official Royal Navy documents state that the Caracal is a recent development, based off a well-loved design used by the Navy and Police in the past. A highly maneuverable and agile craft, it is seen as the pinnacle of light fighter craft.

In actuality, however, the Caracal is not as great as the design docs would lead you to believe. It, firstly, is about the size of the Lynx very heavy fighter, meaning that even with its massively improved agility, it is still as easy to hit as the Lynx craft is. This puts it at a severe disadvantage when going head-to-head against better Sirian counterparts.

Technical Specifications
Name: XJ-1 "Caracal"
Class: Light Fighter
Manufacturer: Gallic Royal Navy

LM Series "Tournez" Gallic Metal Service Light Miner

Summary
According to Gallic Metal Service design documents, the Tournez is designed to quickly reconnoiter stellar fields, trading armor and powercore for an advanced telemetry and thruster system that provides the ship with extreme agility.

In reality, this description is mostly correct. The Tournez maintains the highest angular speed (turn speed) of any vessel in service with the Royal Navy, and thus has earned the nickname "Turns". However, it suffers from a similar problem to the Caracal, which is its massive wingspan compared to its otherwise small frame. This wingspan leads to the otherwise well-rounded light fighter becoming nothing short of target practice.

Technical Specifications
Name: LM Series "Tournez"
Class: Light Fighter
Manufacturer: Gallic Metal Service
Weapon hardpoints: 5 - Class 6 Guns
1 - Class 1 Turret

Equipment hardpoints: 1x Cruise Disruptor
1x Countermeasure Dropper

Hull strength: 5.200 armor units

XJ-2 "Serval" Royal Navy Heavy Fighter

Summary
Royal Navy design docs skim over the Serval rather quickly. Calling it "the cutting edge of Gallic snub technology", it makes key reference to its agility and firepower, compared to other Heavy Fighters of its class. The document is not particularly wrong, either, considering the Serval actually maintains a higher turn speed than the abysmal Caracal. However, is still somewhat outclassed by better Sirian counterparts, although its exact field performance is still unknown as recent Royal Navy upgrades have gone into the craft.

Technical Specifications
Name: XJ-2 "Serval"
Class: Heavy Fighter
Manufacturer: Gallic Royal Navy
Weapon hardpoints: 2 - Class 7 Guns
3 - Class 8 Guns
1 - Class 10 Missile / Class 8 Gun

UX-256 "Moonbeam" Gallic Civilian Heavy Fighter

Summary
The UX-256 Moonbeam, originally designed as a racing craft for illegal racing circuits, has become a rather competent heavy fighter. Its main strengths lie in its above average turn speed and relatively small frame. In all other regards, it is similar to the Serval, sharing the same powercore, repair storage space, and weapon layout. Overall, a strong vessel that, in capable hands, can tear apart any snubcraft that gets too close.

Technical Specifications
Name: UX-256 "Moonbeam"
Class: Heavy Fighter
Manufacturer: Gallic Royal Navy
Weapon hardpoints: 2 - Class 7 Guns
3 - Class 8 Guns

XJ-3 "Lynx" Gallic Very Heavy Fighter

Summary
The mainstay craft of the Gallic Royal Navy's snubcraft arsenal, the XJ-3 Lynx is touted as an "engine of ruthless destruction", with unmatched hull plating, power, and exhaustive electronic support systems. It has become known as the "sword and shield" of the Gallic Royal Navy, serving as both the first and last line of defense.

In reality, these statements hold up. The Lynx is a very capable craft, maintaining an above average hull, excellent powercore, above-average repair systems, and an average turn speed. Weapon arcs are superb, and the cruise disruptor mount is one of the best in Sirius for destroying mines in order to trap the enemy. If you are looking for a capable anti-snubcraft war machine, look no further.

Technical Specifications
Name: XJ-3 "Lynx"
Class: Very Heavy Fighter
Manufacturer: Gallic Royal Navy

UY-258 "Sunbeam" Gallic Civilian Very Heavy Fighter

Summary
"Comfortable, stylish, deadly." the new Sunbeam advertisement touts. "Pushing Gallic economic interests through the darker corners of her homeland, the Sunbeam was crafted as an added deterrent against Brigand bomber strikes."

The Sunbeam, in reality, is essentially a heavier version of the capable Moonbeam. With its slightly larger stature comes with it a heavier powercore, heavier armor, and slight reduction in speed and agility. The Sunbeam is still a very capable VHF, but it tends to pale in comparison to the stronger Lynx.

Technical Specifications
Name: UY-258 "Sunbeam"
Class: Very Heavy Fighter
Manufacturer: EFL Oil and Machinery
Weapon hardpoints: 2 - Class 8 Guns
3 - Class 9 Guns

HM Series "Courbe" Gallic Metal Service Heavy Miner

Summary
Designed to operate as the primary workhorse of GMS mining operations, the Courbe acts as a comfortable work station for long shifts in zero-gravity mining fields. It is also able to equip self-defense weaponry to engage and destroy any would-be pirates.

In reality, the Courbe is similar to the Sunbeam in a few ways. While the Courbe presents a much larger target than the Sunbeam, it also gives a Lynx-level powercore and stronger armor, for a sacrifice in turn speed.

Technical Specifications
Name: HM Series "Courbe"
Class: Very Heavy Fighter
Manufacturer: Gallic Metal Service
Weapon hardpoints: 2 - Class 8 Guns
3 - Class 9 Guns
1 - Class 10 Missile / Class 9 Gun

BXJ-5 "Cougar" Gallic Royal Navy Bomber

Summary
The Cougar is referred to in Gallic design documents as an incredible improvement over the previous bombers used in the first Gallic Civil Wars. The Cougar, in reality, is in fact a vast improvement over all previous attempts at a Gallic bomber. With a fantastic turn speed, quick-charge powercore, excellent weapon arcs, and small frame.

The Cougar represents the finest in Gallic engineering - a wing of Cougars can single-handedly take out an entire fleet of Colonial or Bretonian capital vessels without losing a single bomber. It has done, and it will continue to - if you need something with a little more firepower, look no further.

Technical Specifications
Name: BXJ-5 "Cougar"

UZ-300 "Eclipse" Gallic Civilian Bomber

Summary
The Eclipse heavy bomber was a response to the increasing threat of pirate gunboats and transports on Solar and EFL convoys. Together, the two companies worked to create a bomber combining EFL's trademark high-quality framework with Solar Engineering's complex and advanced computer and navigation systems.

The Eclipse we know today is a capable heavy bomber, capable of taking on even the most stalwart of capital vessels and finishing them with ease. The flexibility offered by two dedicated torpedo hardpoints allows the Eclipse to perform a variety of tasks, and its generous armor and powercore complement that. It falls prey to any snubcraft that goes after it, however, so care is to be provided when using them against a mixed force.

Technical Specifications
Name: UZ-300 "Eclipse"
Class: Heavy Bomber
Manufacturer: EFL / Solar Engineering
Weapon hardpoints: 2 - Bomber Guns
2 - Bomber Turrets

Equipment hardpoints: 2x Bomber Torpedoes
