order reconaissance cruiser - Jinx - 09-08-2008

now - that is not a modified osiris model. - its been built up from the start ( its a lot sleeker ) - however, its meant to be a lighter version of the osiris, smaller, thinner - quicker. there is a frame build around the whole ship to support its structural integrity. the front part is "opened" and there are sensor arrays extruded everywhere possible ( and cause stewcool said, he wouldn t like satelite dishes, i haven t modelled any on that model - although i think they are pretty nice )
the engine section is thinner - and features a vertical twin engine instead of one massive engine. this design is much much closer to the osiris - and so much closer to what the order would build by itself. - its also a lot less massive than the "fun model" i made before - and looks more like freelancer.
what i don t like yet ( or what gotto be modified ) :
- the twin intakes below the ship are too massive ... i only just noticed that
- the frame supports nothing important - so i ll add something that it actually supports
the update is coming, faster than we think - so i m not sure if i can finish the model or not. - if i do, - i d suggest a small vessel of destroyer size ( but like the BHG destroyer - one of the smallest possible ) - along with "only" 8 guns - like a natural counterpart to the BHG destroyer.
in terms of ingame power - something along the lines of a powerful gunboat or a very weak cruiser. - fast, agile, small - meant to get whereever its needed to scout and spy, and enough armour and shields to survive, while at the same time rather focussing on the RP of reconaissance than actually the ability to destroy other vessels of its size.
its meant to be a research ship, - as powerful as the spyglass in a RP sense - but not a battleship, like the spyglass, but much more focussed on what its meant for. ( cloakable and equipped with the latest most powerful sensor equipment )

edit: Yes I despise those sattalite things.
edit2: I wander if I can fly a star flier into those in takes! That should cause some damage:P
edit: Oh and I just realised the Ark also looks larger then normal
edit: Maybe if you cant find somtin for the frame to support you can leave that frame that
goes parallel(Like a bridge around the ship) with the ship remove the rest and put
more sensor arrays this time pointing backwards

I know you said it's supposed to be small, but it looks very large without a comparison...
Also, i think the BHG destroyer has 9 turrets doesnt it? Regardless, if the thing is manuverable enough that may not be a problem...

the only "item" one can compare it to the osiris is the dome-like bridge. - compared with the osiris - it would be half the size. ( cause compared to the rest, the dome is twice as large on this ship )
the BHG destroyer has 8 turrets only. its weaker than a corsair gunboat, cause its a lot less able to turn and move. - but if this ship is meant to be for research purpose and RP, it won t need strong weaponry.

As the Order's research ship I'm using a Zoner Dessy cause that's the closest thing I can get to a lab ship, but this would replace it nicely even thought it's very thin. I love it.

here are the pictures of a fun ride in OpenSP with the fully hardpointed and textured version.

8 guns, half the size of the osiris does not make this ship overpowered in pvp, but it can fill a RP gap when it comes to reconaissance roleplay.
i added some details, removed the overlarge intakes below the ship and replaced them with fins and mini wings.
a suggestion about its roleplay value would be like that:
- a revolutionary new engine that allows it to travel almost unnoticed by sensors ( somewhat a passive stealth )
- the osiris cloaking device of course, to activly cloak
- advanced spyglass technology for an even greater sensor effect, even through nebulas ( where its supposed to hide, - thats what the winglets are for )
- a superior agility compared to any other ship of its class ( it should be the most agile, but its also one of the largest destroyers ( about cruiser/ battlecruiser size ) )
- i would suggest to give it a 200 thruster instead of a 140 - and a superior backwards thrust 70
- low armour ( maybe "only" 180.000 )
