Protege, I've been pushing hard for a 'more important' Zoner faction since I joined, and even I think your idea is ridiculous.
Afaik, you can only fit survey modules on capital ships, and it would be massively wasteful to build an expensive capital ship just to turn it into a "drone" that gathers hyperspace coordinates.

What about the Corvo? Isn't it supposed to be a research vessel? Sounds right for the job...

Corvo, according to the infocard, is more fitting for exploration and research than combat. Along with these, I also have a Corvo myself that acts as a flying marketplace. Its a much less combat-oriented ship

in reality, the Corvo is actually a pretty good light cruiser. twin razors and Solaris make for a pretty devastating ship vs snubs, and against caps, it's small enough that its basically a slightly over-sized gunboat
