Faction activity support group - Pavel - 09-01-2014 Following latest drama concerning Garret's Thor, I asked myself "what could be done to help factions with low activity?" The faction I lead, DHC, is in such situation, and with low server activity recruiting new members isn't that easy as it used to be. I'd like to propose oorp skype group consisted of people who volunteered to log other faction's ships, in exchange for the rest doing that same. Let's say faction A lacks members. In the common chat leader of faction A asks volunteers to log A's chars. They log, organize patrol/raid/convoy, whatever. The next day leader of faction B, who also is in the chat, needs more manpower for his faction's planned activity, so he asks for help, and people log, including grateful leader of faction A. A,B,C,D, etc leaders and trusted members help each others in exchange for receiving same kind of help from them. Naturally, not everybody could be part of such group. After all, it's allowing not entirely known to us people fly under our tag - only well known, trusted players would be accepted. In the end however, it's up to certain faction's leader, does he want to let specific person fly with his faction's tag or not. Most important point: tags and ships. I don't think there would be many appreciating giving out their tag password. I imagine people would make faction-repped ships themselves, give codes to faction leaders for rename, and take back their chars after ther were renamed by faction leaders. If someone wishes to make his faction's tag public, or give acces to shared ships to certain persons, it's dependant on his willingness. A list containing information about members and their faction chars would be good way to keep track of things. Sure it's proposal made out of necessity, to help many low-activity factions, but think also about personal pros: you could try out various roles, one evening you'd be Bowex captain, another - GMG security pilot, and at the end of week you'd play Xeno. I'm curious what people think of this idea. RE: Faction activity support group - Omicron - 09-01-2014 There was precedence for that between Order| and Keepers/K'Hara. Not a bad concept but it's up to factions to arrange said system for themselves. DELETE - SnakThree - 09-01-2014 DELETE RE: Faction activity support group - Apollon - 09-01-2014 That is... a Nice idea, requires trust though. not everyone can be entrusted with playing in a faction. This could greatly help with faction activities. As for the Tag and ships, the simple solution is to give them shared accounts? like 4 shared accounts, or more if needed. This could simply solve the prob without the players putting money in it and moving and renaming the characters. RE: Faction activity support group - Pavel - 09-01-2014 @ Snak3 Ofc it wouldn't be "natural" activity, but I suppouse that's better than having totally zombie factions. Also, again, recruitment isn't that easy as it was, after attacks we have fewer players, and fewer noobs aswell. Edit: To clarify, I'm mainly aiming at official factions with that proposal (although tbh any trusted person could help, "indy player" as well. The more the merrier), and obviously it wouldn't be anything mandatory - I'm checking would others be interested. RE: Faction activity support group - Zayne Carrick - 09-01-2014 Kinda weird. Some factions have partially shared memberships and it brought some nasty things to server. Like using one's position in faction A to lobby faction's B interests. Making that common practice won't do anything good. However, if you're speaking about some kind of scheduled activity. Like "in monday everyone's logging to Liberty and in tuesday to Bretonia"... well, that would make sense. Quote:EDIT: Also, quality over quantity please. Now look on the factions, who're following this rule. I'll give you a hint, they're at bottom of activity chart. I don't think anyone would place someone not from his faction's HC in e.g. charge of diplomacy. It's oorp support group, I imagine that people taking part in that would play average workers, pilots, security members etc. Also, yes, being brutally honest (quality>quantity) = dead/zombie factions. As much as people hate it, with Discovery's decreased activity membership standards will also decrease. RE: Faction activity support group - Stefz - 09-01-2014 Sure the idea has some flaws, but it will bring much needed activity. One day big Lolberty pews, the other day Omicrons, etc. You've got my full support, good sir.
