You mean what is Mountbatten's rank, right?

Not sure, to be honest. The British Army and Navy have a history of nobility entering the service and having, by virtue of birth, an officer's rank, sometimes even purchased by the family.

The kid that gets his arm blown up in Master and Commander, for instance, was nobility, and a low ranking officer.

Mountbatten, as nobility, and commander of a Dessie, I think should default to Commander rank. Does that make sense, guys?

I do believe it does..I'd always assumed he might be a commodore, if the QCG blew out a bit, formed its own flotilla...But too many cooks, you know.
