A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Arioch - 09-07-2014 ![]() As Finn walked into the conference room on the spire of Bethlehem, he comm'd Eden, his co-administrator on Bethlehem when Finn was away. Normally this was 95% of the time. "Eden, close down all docking ports. As discussed, our guests should be arriving shortly. Please make sure they are attended t' ta moment they arrive. Thanks lad." Sitting down, he arranged the papers in front of him and awaited the arrival of the others, sipping a glass of Whiskey and looking out into the space outside the Station. RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - RedEclipse - 09-07-2014 ![]() "This is (\^/)Lyra to Bethlehem station. I am requesting to dock." Said Christian and by the way manually aligning ship to the docking bay. He get used to do this on own, as stations in Omicrons frequntly sieged by Nomad patrols and docking lights nor docking laser are offline most of time. As Bethlehem take control of the ship, Burton left the cabin and walked to the lock. As Lyra synchronized pressure as on the station, lock opened swiftly and Christian left the ship. As it's not his first visit on Bethlehem, Christian walked straight from deck to offices level, to the meeting room. The door automatically opened, and Christian found Finn watching out of window into the space. "Hey, Finn." He smiled kindly. And walked across the room for handshake. "Its been awhile since I saw you last time"... RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Teerin - 09-09-2014 The Admiral hadn't personally been to Bethlehem Station before. Having secured his Avenger safely in the docking bay, he asked one of the nearby maintenance workers for directions. Zoners, he thought to himself, generally quite friendly people, aren't they? Given my ancestry though, I'm probably biased. Walking up to the meeting room entrance, he caught a glimpse of another man heading inside. As the door eased shut behind him, Teerin heard, "Hey, Finn. Its been a while since I saw you last time ... " Rohj re-opened the door to enter the meeting room. The man he saw earlier, likely the Phoenix representative, approached the local administrator who was standing by the large window. His sense of smell was then alerted to the presence of whiskey ... McCool was indeed a man of his word. Sampling would have to wait for later though, as he was still on duty. Stuck between interrupting and coming in without a greeting, he simply asked, "Afternoon, gentlemen. Are we waiting on the Freeport Two delegate, or is this it?" RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Remnant - 09-09-2014 A woman which was standing quietly on the opposite end of the room turns and eyes the two men entering, giving a polite nod. Returning her gaze back down to a tablet in her hands, she finishes a line which she was working on and stows it away since people have begun to arrive. Spying that the Phoenix arrival and McCool were engaging themselves in a quick conversation, she approaches the Admiral. "Welcome to Bethlehem. I'm glad you could make it. My name is Rachel Winterton, nice to make your acquaintance. As far as i'm aware, we indeed are awaiting the arrival of the Freeport Two delegate. We'll be beginning soon after he arrives hopefully." RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Arioch - 09-09-2014 Looking at the viewports from the conference room, he heard the doors open and upon turning around, he saw Christian Burton walking in. "Christian! Been a while lad. A pleasure t' see you again." As soon as he finished, he saw another person walking in behind Burton. Admiral Teerin of the Liberty Navy. Before he could respond to Teerin's inquiry, Rachel, silent as ever in the corner approached and offered her response. "Welcome Admiral Teerin. I hope your arrival was uneventful here. As our previous communiques have indicated, space around Bethlehem is not as safe as we would like. But you seem t' have made it here in one piece!" Motioning for everyone to sit down, he took a sip from his glass, and oferred refreshments to the guests. As they gave their yes and no's, Finn began. "While we are waiting for ta delegate from Freeport 2, I see no reason why we cannot begin discussing Bethlehem, as well as Ames. As I had mentioned previously Admiral, we are here t' discuss remaking a new Treaty of Bethlehem. In front of you all, you will see the old treaty, of which we will be using as a basis for our meeting today." He motioned towards the documents in front of everyone. Taking a pause, as well as another sip from his glass, he continued. "Before we discuss what this new treaty will contain, I would like t' hear from you both your concerns or what you felt that ta old Treaty failed t' uphold or provide, for Zoner and Liberty Navy alike." RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - RedEclipse - 09-10-2014 As Christian greeted Finn, he noticed another person entered the room. Definitely a high ranked Liberty representative. Christian never saw him before, but as Finn greeted him back and cleared up the question. "Greetings, Admiral it's nice to meet you" As Finn started his speech and motioned to sit down, Christian took place in the chair, poured some water in the glass and let Finn to end his speech by the way sipping water; as road from Omicrons was quite long. As hologram of old Treaty appeared, he gave a look into it, though he remember text of old treaty pretty well. As Finn end his speech, Christian put the glass on the table. "Old treaty served pretty well for the Ames, though it had some problems such as... NFZ" Christian paused and gave a look on interlocutors to see the reaction, then continued. "I myself had enough of time to be certain of simple fact - NFZ doesn't work as it's supposed in original role, due to the nature of human beings. For a long time of standing Phoenix our installations does not enforcing NFZ and it works pretty well. Furthermore it does not threat safety of the installations, as shields generators capable to resist not just few bombers, but fleet of capital ships - and that's what rebels, freelancers, pirates cannot to afford. " He took the glass and drink some water. "Also, as you may remember, old Treaty come into power long time ago. But progress never stop. New technologies such as jump drive giving new ways to travel in the space. When in comes with the Ames and treaty, 5k space around Ames as sovereign space is not enough - as best survey accuracy may be started 7-10k from survey point and it's technically broke the treaty. We should mention in new treaty usage of new technologies with their specific, to avoid variant reading of same document." RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Bering Shipping Inc. - 09-15-2014 - September, 821 A.S. - Pennsylvania System Quite a few years since Tony had been to Pennsy. He sure needed to visit Erie - he thought. Coming from the Texas jumphole, he passed near the planet, but took the trade lane instead. One more lane to the right and he arrived at Bethlehem.
"Bethlehem Control, this is the BSI-Navarin.Canion, Zoner Long Range Escort, one person aboard, no cargo, requesting permition to dock." "Navarin.Canion, Bethlehem... Docking approved. Proceed to Bay One." "Roger, Bethlehem Control, clear to Docking Bay One." ![]() Tony quickly left his Osprey, and asked directions for the conference room. He walked down the appointed direction on a fast pace. Soon he saw the double doors. He opened them and walked in, realizing he was the last one to arrive... again. "Forgive me if I'm late, my friends! Mr. McCool's message got me at the far side of the Omicrons... Quite some jumps from there to here. I'm Tony Doria, from Freeport Two..." RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Arioch - 09-16-2014 Listening to Mr. Burton's speech, he agreed with much of what he was saying, though had his own opinions as well. Taking another sip, he responded in kind. "You bring up some interesting points Burton. A NFZ indeed does not benefit a station that would require a medium t' large sized force of capital ships t' attack our respective stations. Most pilots are not stupid enough t' open fire on ta stations themsevles, and if they are. Well, they won't be around long enough t' see if they have infact done any damage. Though, while a handful of pilots do not pose a threat t' ta station itself, ta men and women whom frequent them can be in danger, as they are flying t' or from ta station. If no rule is in place t' prevent ta attacks of those whom are welcome t' our stations, then there is nothing to stop cocky pilots from giving us ta finger and ignoring our request t' stop. Granted yes, a NFZ may not mean much t' them, but I do see benefit for others such as police or even bounty hunters in ta area, who do see such needless attacks on civilians. You may not see such action often around Ames, but I have multiple images and videos from our security logs showing such atrocities are occurring outside Bethlehem. You se..." Before he could finish, he heard the door open to the conference room, and a man walking in, introducing himself. Standing up, Finn walked around and shock Tony's hand before motioning for him to take a seat. "Welcome my friend! A pleasure t' see you. Allow me t' introduce ta other guests. We have Christian Burton from ta Phoenix Zoners, Admiral Rohj Teerin of ta Liberty Navy, and Rachel Winterton of ta Ingenuus Research Group along with myself. As we were discussing, we are determining ta pros and cons of having a new Treaty being made, and what we can do t' improve upon ta lines that did not work in ta past Treaty of Bethlehem." RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Teerin - 09-16-2014 Teerin had been listening carefully to the discussion - briefly interrupted by the late arrival - that Burton started with McCool. After the man finished his piece, the Admiral replied, "I would much rather that any use of jump drives be restricted, mister Burton. Perhaps to a handful of select Phoenix and Ingenuus ships, and within ten kilometers of this facility." "As for faults in the previous Treaty," he spoke on, "you're right. It allowed for previously not encountered vessels of hostile nature to the House of Liberty to use any of the three bases as a safe haven." "Fortunately, the situation that Freeport Two is in is now a bit simpler. With the gate to Hamburg destroyed, incidents with the Rheinland Military forcing their way onto the station have minimized. Nonetheless, precautions ought to be written into the new document." RE: A meeting aboard Bethlehem Station - Bering Shipping Inc. - 09-16-2014 After being introduced to the others, Tony sat down and started reading the transcript of the old treaty, that Finn had provided, while they commented about NFZ's and jump drives. The mention of Freeport Two caught Tony's attention:
"Well, Admiral, since you mentioned FP-2... Indeed, with the gates disabled the number of Rheinland Military ships decreased significantly, but there are still incursions, now and then. And a couple of ships still insist in going up to Texas sometimes, as you are well aware. Although rare, this occasions are a heavy risk for our station. That also has to be taken under consideration. I don't want trouble with the krautz, we all know how mean they can be..." Tony looked around, looking for the reactions on each one of the present at the meeting. Then turned again to Teerin: "But, the most important thing I wanted on this treaty is not an explicit part of the old text, I see... I want the Liberty Government to allow free passage through Texas for Zoner ships going to supply Freeport Two. I never had problems with your Navy before, your pilots have always been comprehensive and even escorted me sometimes to the station, be it by courtesy or to be sure I was really going to where I said I was. The LPI is another matter, but that is not your problem..." A brief smile passed by Tony's face. He again looked around, and faced the Admiral once more. "That being said, now let's see what are these 'precautions' you want mentioned in the new treaty, Admiral?" |
