A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Skyevallen - 09-09-2014 Nevermind... nothing here anymore. RE: A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Fluffyball - 09-09-2014 This is a good idea, but the problem is that ID is also a what-can-do-what-can-not-do ruleset for faction. RE: A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Skyevallen - 09-09-2014 Quote:ID’s could be completely removed with this concept... Only 1 form of identification now with the above system implemented. I never liked the thought of two forms of ID as you can always make the two mismatch and add to confusion. The only form of ID should be your IFF… ID’s just add confusion…That's why I mentioned removing the ID entirely... It becomes obsolete when you are limited based on gameplay instead of it being based on being told to purchase an ID and trusting the player will cooperate... RE: A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Karst - 09-09-2014 The dynamic IFF system of freelancer forms a significant portion of the game. IFF and reputation shouldn't be static, that goes against the very concept. "To promote good trade RP, factions can only dock where they should." This is exactly the opposite of what we want, and what is good trade RP. That's the exciting part, having diplomacy that can shift and having relations that are complex, and that all your partners only see one side of. The rephacks we have now cover unrealistic docking scenarios well enough. There's absolutely no need to mess with the IFF system. More than half of all actions I am currently performing in Forum or in RP on the Server is directly or indirectly linked with shifting ID / IFF, with diplomacy and defining the *finished* Rep should I manage to elevate T&T to official status some day. And even without faction background : Life is never black & white. RP is a simplified version of RL , mixed with fictional - in this case SciFi - components to be more enjoyable. And even though it HAS to be simplified largely to be controlable and playable at all I would rather work on enhancing diversity, not on setting a ready - made all equal bias to make RP *more real* Of course rules will be abused. Thats why every game you play has rules in the first place, and why most group games have an Admin or Game Master in one or the other form. But in an online community or a RP group it´s the dynamic between players and their different interpretations of lore and action results that make RP interesting. So to cut down these posibilities would cut down RP variety, not enhance RP. You see... Role play is not meant to be easy. It´s meant to be exciting. 2 cents done Rob RE: A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Skyevallen - 09-09-2014 (09-09-2014, 11:01 PM)Karst Wrote: The dynamic IFF system of freelancer forms a significant portion of the game. And there prices are much higher than the prices are now? Rep hacks could at least be much harder to acquire. I believe there is a larger problem with players not understanding the rules and flying around with ships they shouldn’t be then you are implying… I’ve seen it all over. Every time I login I’ll see at least one or two players doing it. Good trade RP in my opinion would be making it nearly impossible for the traders to give goods to factions they shouldn’t be, using a hacked reputation and breaking the rules, possibly getting a sanction. It could be a very hard accomplishment, not something players can do on a whim… (09-09-2014, 11:01 PM)FynnMcScrap Wrote: I agree. You could still adjust your rep however you want if you use the proper /restart. The only thing you would not be able to do is purchase a ship that a faction would realistically not sell to you… I agree life is not black and white, but it’s also not completely lawless in regards to purchasing high end military equipment. This stuff should be impossible to get without the right credentials. Now if you want to be a Navy Officer and then break off from the Navy and become unaffiliated with some cool hardware… That’s still possible… A good game can run on its own with as little outside interference from Admins/GameMasters. There’s a difference between having a game that allows you to do things that the Masters tell you not to do, and a game that has rules that you cannot break without hacking… RE: A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Fluffyball - 09-10-2014 What if I told you that no one outside a faction would even buy a faction ship, because it is nerfed? RE: A Radical IFF ID Docking Reputation Idea - Skyevallen - 09-10-2014 Well then, actually it's funny you mentioned that. I was finding it out for myself on accident just right now. I'd say ok, and just remove the info in this thread. I'd also laugh at some of the people I see breaking those rules now and not feel like I'm at a disadvantage for following the rules. Furthermore I'd hunt that player down and kill him/her.... feeling rather sure that in the end they'll be filling my monitor with a bunch of pretty colors... |
