Clearly allot has changed since I last played! I'm keen to discover most of it on my own but I'm sure that I will be stumbling upon some doh! moments.
My first such question, is how do I roll? I saw the option in my keybinds so I set them up but when I try to use them my ship does not move? Is the feature disabled or is there something under my nose?

in free look mode roll works

Go to cockpit (Cntrl+V) mode,it will work there.

New question. How do I acquire docking modules, jump drives, cloaking devices and etc? I am about to set up a main rp character that uses such things but outside of the player market place I can see where I get them.

The player market would be the only way. They are made only on player owned bases. So unless you want to set up your own base and gather all the supplies needed to build a factory just for one jump drive, you will need to buy one off the market.

Average market prices for now:
Docking (ships with 270 (or 280) cargo or less can dock) ~100mil
Light cloak (ships with 120 cargo or less, 20 cargo space) ~125mil
Medium cloak (ships with 900 cargo or less, 200 cargo space) ~250mil
Large cloak (any ships, 500 cargo space) ~500mil
JD mk2 ~200mil
JD mk3 ~400mil
JD mk4 ~600mil
