Omicrons have neither civilization or economy. Either survival economy, or untapped resources waiting to be exploited by the big companies, once they manage to take the natives out of the equation.
Of course a dedicated person (like Alvin) will find minimum profit routes to keep you busy all day in the omicrons, but don't expect more than the ones that go out and sell the unique goods in house space, and come back with essential commodities.

There's a few things the Core needs, but it looks like there's nothing they can offer the rest of Sirius...which makes sens (sort of) because they're not really collecting resources (oh, and it's not that easy to get access to their bases, either...)
