Okay recently I've been thinking... why is Connecticut only in New York?

Sure, the name is derived from a State from the USA, but, shouldnt there be a PvP portal all around the place leading to PvP arenas across the universe so people don't have to be OoRP for a duel?

ex. Hessian challenges a Corsair to a duel, they'd go to Connecticut, but be VERY OoRP travelling there, kinda sucks for them, right?

Well I think there should be a new method for handling these duels...

I think that Connecticut should be replaced with an "Arena Portal" that leads to a giant Arena with Portals leading from ALL the capitols of the Houses and Factions...

And then to prevent it from becoming some kind of crazy Power Trader's dream come true...
the Portals should all be spread at least 60K apart in a giant ring at the edge of the system...

And there would be bases that sell ALL FORMS of ammo and weaponry and stuff for people to use,
so if you use any ammo, you're sure to be able to buy more within the arena.

Sorry...but that won't help. Powertraders frequently travel more than 60k to get somewhere. Sad though it is, it's the only way that it works right now, unless we added a jumphole in each home system to a arena.

Yes it is a annoying thing having to go all the way to Connecticut to have a oorp fight... but i wouldnt change it for the simple reason is people will abuse it nomatter what you do to stop it, unless you have some weapons platforms that fires on people unless you have certain id ( is that possible)?

Boss is 100% correct. I used to play on Void & Alexandria was that portal to every system capital. At one point it was where all the player killers hung out, but when admin banned fighting in the system it became a power-traders dream. It just wouldn't work on Disco.

How about the Jumpholes are randomly placed around the ring, but then made sure that no two Capitol systems that have good power trade economies are touching, but are all the way across the ring from each other,

which is far more than 60k distance...

I'll draw up a rough example in Paint in a minute...

Still won't help. The point is that having a cetral system, aside from a starting system with one=way jumpholes, is not going to resolve any problems, and just increase the powertrading to epic scales, to the point that 50% or more of all trading of the server is going through it.

Right again - this is exactly what happened on Void & because missiles worked better on that mod it got a bit laggy. I understand what your trying to achieve with your worm hole idea, but it won't work here & any bookie will give you 1,000,000 to 1 odds on admin not accepting it.

The only way this would be work was if the server was to log which wormhole you used & disallow you from exiting Connecticut via a different wormhole. The theoretical coding for this is elementary, but I suspect this is one of those source code issues, otherwise it probably would of been done by now. I could be wrong, but these developers know their stuff.

[edit - made a coffee & thought about it some more & I see that the server would have to store multiple variables for every ship if it was to be coded in.

Current System (which logically must exist already)
Conneticut_Liberty_jh
Conneticut_Bretonia_jh
Conneticut_Kusari_jh
Conneticut_Rhineland_jh

It would also need to make 2 decisions every time a ship jumped. (1) am I in Conn (shut things) (2) was my last system Conn (open things) .

I'm not certain what kind of strain this will place on the server when there are 150 players on board + all the redundant data that will build up necessitating more frequent player wipes.

I haven't programmed for years so there might be a slicker way of doing this]

yeah, it wouldn't work. having multiple systems like conneticut would though?

so one in Theta or Sigma 19? (Hessians, Corsairs, Rheinlanders, Kusarians and Outcasts can get there pretty easily)

Now that IS one of the reasons that I will allow passage through z21 into new york is for pvp in Conn.That I have no problem at all.Just give me a heads up early enough,like,BEFORE you get to minor,that way I dont have to sound a system-wide general quarters for a pending invasion that isnt real.:$

Sadly,however,I have had players use that as an excuse,and then just start raiding New York since they slipped past the "guard dog".And those players I will never trust again.:nono:

Some will give me their word,after asking what their forum name is, and have gained my trust.If they say that they are having a pvp event in Conn,then thats all that is needed to be said.Passage granted and good luck in the fight.:cool:
