Mission drops. - Srkad - 09-15-2008 Right now the only practical use for missions is getting your rep up. So, what if npcs from missions sometimes dropped items that you cant buy, but are reasonably good. Kind of like drops in MMO's. It could make the missions worth while. Missions spawn npc's, make other npc's neutral ect ect They lag the server, add aditional load to the server, a popular server already trying to cope with a high user rate. Good idea but I don't think it will get far. The higher ranking NPC's do drop CC's :) Mission drops. - Srkad - 09-15-2008 10k CC's...and the extra missions will not add a significant amount of lag... Mission drops. - Exile - 09-15-2008 This isn't an MMO? Some other mods have it but their missions are crazy. Way too hard sometimes. That's quite understandable since if you'd give away valuable stuff on easy missions, everyone would be harvesting the lot. Mission drops. - Ascendancy - 09-15-2008 Coming from a person who has thousands of missions under his belt, I'd really like to see unique drops occur once in a while from NPCs. Now, admittedly I only deal with Nomad and BH NPCs, but either one of them is bound to drop something unique, or very rare. Currently I find the "rare" things to be Nomad Energy Blasters, Ripper Mines and high level mine droppers and missile launchers (Cutter Mines, Ripper Mines, Firestalker Missiles). If it happened every so often, but very rarely, that NPCs dropped the occasional Class 10 weapon (other than the Nomadic ones), but not Codenames (unless that was a <0.01% chance of it dropping), then it would make missions more viable. I've always hated that those power traders can make more than I ever will in a lifetime trading instead of me going out and fighting tons of NPCs that have weapons beyond their ships' class restrictions and infinite power to boot. Oh, and the $10,000 Sirius Credit Cards are hardly anything, I would think the Level 19 NPCs would have $100,000 ones, but I digress...perhaps the very rare Class 10 weapon or thruster drop should occur, but only so rarely (and only on Level 19 NPCs). I'm well aware of this...thanks for the clarification though. *Sarcasm* There is no reason why this is a bad idea, people who think trading is boring as hell have no option of making money except taxing...or maybe harvesting nomads...but that is not nearly as lucrative as ANY trading route. This is just a way to make missions actually worth while. |
