Some names that may seem offensive in English (?) - Fluffyball - 10-16-2014

I have been wondering and pondering around, because I was about to name one ship, but then I have realized there may be a problem.

Why?

Well, because of this.

Even if I posted this solely unharmful name of the place on the forums, it will be censored. There are also few names that seem to be censored both or either on the forums or in game. Believe me, when it comes to Polish, there's also one thing in Japanese (-suki, -suka, -suke part of the speech), which I have been frowned upon, while demonstrating my knowledge on this language and ended up being called "you misbehaved bastard, how could you swear next to the people?!"

And oh the irony, English "bi..." is Polish "suka". :|

Bishu with two other provinces. It's like you called LNS cruiser "Northwest". Smile But I was asking about such coincidental names in particular, not only in Japanese, but sometimes even is other languages that may ressemble English words. e.g. Sukmakok (yes, this is actual real name).

Understand your point completely, and have heard variations of this for as long as I have worked. For better or for worse, the server has an official language.

An humorous example is the Chevy Nova. They tried marketing it in Mexico, and no one checked to find out that No Va roughly translates in Spanish as, Doesn't Go.

Heck, the entire KIA corporation doesn't sit well with veterans on some level. Who wants to drive a vehicle whose initials are Killed in Action??!

Same with Coca Cola advertised in China. I loved how accidentaly they named that in Chinese (kiss your fat frog, or something like that?)

Ah! That other in game example was Shi-tsume or Shi-tsukoi (with no -). Aishiteru is also offlimits, sadly.

Edit: Oh my, Aishiteru is not censored? Okay...

Shota as well is banned in game, even though it is actual name (but reason is... kinda obvious for some people).

I heard the Coke story, too, but I was told it translated to "Bite the wax tadpole"

I'd call an LNS cruiser Northwest.
