The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - WesternPeregrine - 12-06-2014 Another morning rose on the small colonies developed by Samura on the remote Planet Miyazaki, in the Tottori system. The controlled means of production on the Samura farms meant that the change of the seasons now had little effect on the crops that the Kusarians produced on the developed fields. However, if one were to look beyond the fields, one could say that the lands were experiencing the end of Summer, and a rather warm Autumn was approaching. This change of seasons meant even less for the inhabitants of the Anijima Base, shrouded in a sub-zero asteroid field of ice and dust, receiving faint traces of the light that the stars of Tottori provided. The seasons here were more in tune with the events of men, or rather, the events of certain groups of men. Anijima (兄島 - Elder Brother Island) had a considerable importance amongst all of the Hogosha operations and installations outside of the Planetary regions. The Golden Dragon Casino had the fame, the venerable Kabukicho had the business, but Anijima had the secrecy, the mysterious characteristic befitting of the Hogosha character. The retainers of Anijima had the considerable of protecting the repository of collective knowledge of the syndicates, as well as keeping the base as the stage where Syndicates could meet amongst themselves in safety and confidentiality, and where the Hogosha could receive their partners and contacts from the large network they had in Kusari and abroad. --------------------------- From Tokkai Shipping Platform the retainers of Anijima were informed of a new convoy that was heading their way. Preparations had been made in advance for this an other convoys that were bound to arrive soon. From the surrounding nebula, the figures of a Raba transport escorted by a pair of fighters, followed by a Geisha yacht confirmed that this was one of the convoys they were expecting, and the large bays were open to receive the new guests. From withing the Geisha came out some people, amongst them an old man in a set of traditional clothes used by the elders of villages and towns. He moved out of the group, that went to assist on the unloading of the Raba, and presented himself to a group that was waiting for him. "Well met, brothers of Anijima. I am known as the Fisherman, and I have come to attend the meeting held by the Hogosha Association. I have come come to represent the interests of the Seven Fortunes Syndicate of Shikoku, and their position within the hosting Association." - the old man said, presenting an emblem that confirmed his position as an associate and representative of his syndicate. "Konnichiwa fellow associate." - replied one of the other men, presenting himself as an associate too - " We have arranged a room for the meeting with the staff, and are please to receive the Seven Fortunes at our table. Please, follow me." The Fisherman was guided to a conference room, notably one of the smallest ones, where meetings between leaders usually occurred before a larger banquet was thrown to all the members present. The disposition of the room indicated that they expected a small number indeed. The Fisherman took one of the seats, and was served a tea by one of the staff. He tried to gather his thoughts, as well remembering what purpose had brought him to this meeting. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - Sabru - 12-07-2014 A single Raba transport glides insystem, heading for Anijima. Touching down in the docking bay, 2 young woman in traditional Kusarian yukata exit the ship and proceed over to the retainers waiting. "Haruna-chan is here! Where is Fishy?!" the shorter of the ladies says, showing a hand-crafted seal denoting her status as a Syndicate Oyabun. One of the retainers leads them to the conference room set for the meeting. Upon opening the door, Haruna waves to the fisherman and takes a seat at the table. "Hey Fishy! How have you been? Oh yeah, this is my Onee-chan Takao." Takao politely nods to the other party before taking a seat next to Haruna. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - Sakura - 12-07-2014 A Luxus Liner of the Renzu class docked on Anijima. It was the Casino Ship of the Silvereye Dragons. After a while a noble lady entered the rooms of Anijima. Wearing a silk kimono of the royal class, showed that she was from a very high rank. Step by step, not losing a single moment on elegance she enters the conference room. "Kon'nichiwa honorable people of the Association."and she bowed graceful. "My name is Kimiko Takehiko. I am the leader of the Silvereye Dragons. Most of you will just know me under my syndicate nickname Lady Black." Then she took place near the other people. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - WesternPeregrine - 12-08-2014 The Fisherman rises from his seat upon hearing the door opening. To his surprise, he finds that it is Haruna that has arrived, along with the other person. He gives a bow to group in response to their greetings. "Koreha, koreha, if it isn't Haruna-chan. It has been a long while since I've heard of you. I hope everything has been well during that period." The Fisherman takes a mental note about the name Takao, reminding him of affairs somewhere else. The coincidences are too great, but if true, it means "they" are getting closer into our Association. The concerns of the stability and autonomy of the organization worried him, but he decided to play along for the time being. "A pleasure to make acquaintance of your nee-san. I'm glad you could find someone who looks capable. Many rare talents can be found out there in Kusari. You just need to use them well, Haruna-san." As Haruna took her seat, and the old man was thinking about returning to his tea, another guest arrived to the conference room. This one he new better, and greeted her after her presentation. "Yokoso, Lady of the Silvereye Dragons. May I say it is no flattery or lie to say that is a pleasure to be in your presence again. I thank you once again for the support you have given us in recent weeks." As the guests and their entourage arrived, the room became more lively with chatter. It appeared that very few people had yet to arrive, and that the meeting would start soon. The Fisherman returned to his seat made a signal to one of his men, and a man in a suite sporting a Blue Jillie approached him, leaning over to receive his instructions. "Hebishima, head over to the hangar and see if Shimoe has finished the unloading, then bring him here with you. Also, bring me the documents I brought. The meeting might start soon." "Hai, Senchou." Hebishima replied, making way outside of the conference room, while the Fisherman returned to his tea. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - Sabru - 12-08-2014 Takao examines the fisherman, remembering her other imouto's dealings with him. "It is most pleasing to meet the mysterious fisherman in the flesh. I have heard many things, and know of the work you have done for us." Takao waits to see if the fisherman reacts to her deliberate mention of his dealings with them. "Where's cranky man? he isnt here yet. Probably off ranting at some foreigner or something. I think he must be permanently constipated, since he's always in a bad mood." Haruna suddenly says out loud, puncturing the tense mood. Takao cant help but chuckle at her imouto's random comment. "Yes, much thinking of braincells has been made. I also consulted the fish. they were very helpful, although they sometimes argued amongst themselves. It took a while for them to come up with a clear answer." Not forgetting the other associate present, haruna calls out "Hi! Dragon Lady!" RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - Ironwatsas - 12-09-2014 Farther away in the system, slipped an Enterprise-class Liner. A vessel that, would to rivet counters, obviously bear the same structural hallmarks as one of several 'tramp steamers' sold off from Baltimore Shipyards to Zoner crews decades ago. A vessel that served as both a mixed passenger and freight hauler, and subsequently as a research ship. Now however, it bore a very plain color scheme. With little but a registry number and a few hull symbols to clarify it's identity. The vessel was the Amur River, officially privately owned, but actually one of several vessels in the service of the Patriot's Society of Kusari. From the liner launched a single, luxurious Black Dragon fighter, which flew into the icy clouds concealing the base of Anjima. It quickly docked with the base, and was placed in a hangar, as the Amur River quickly fired it's engines in a long burn to take it out of the system. --- Dressed in a black suit and tie, with eyes behind a pair of glasses, and with a characteristically stoic expression on his face, Kenji Takeda walked down the hallways traveled many times before. While he knew and was well known by the Retainers of Anjima, Kenji was very much a pariah within the Hogosha syndicates. A man who dabbled in secrets, politics, and lies, he was never fully trusted by most of the lower level members of the other syndicates. No one had ever questioned his connections, or dared to probe too deeply about the Patriotic Society's true motivations. Secret societies remain secret because it is taboo to ask about them. However, the men and women he was here to meet were among the few Kenji could speak with about the Society's business, goals, and intentions. They were individuals who, seemingly for the most part, had Kenji's respect. Or at the very least were valuable enough to him to bother interacting with. Kenji walked into the conference room alone, bowing politely in a well rehearsed series of movements. "Konichi-wa, my fellows. Fisherman, Lady Black, and Takao. I expect this is all who will be attending this meeting?" He asked, standing aside the table, waiting for the response of the Fisherman before taking his seat. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - WesternPeregrine - 12-10-2014 The old man gave out a smile at the small complaint of Haruna, as if it had heard her summons, the representative of the one of the remaining groups arrived just a few moments later. "Ah, speaking of the devil. Welcome Takeda-san. I believe you were the last ones of the major syndicates. I think tha-...." The Fisherman is interrupted by the opening of the doors of an adjacent chamber, and the entrance of a smaller group. At the head of this group is a man with a strong build in a business suit, and a serious expression. With a deep bow to all present, Tokiomi Katagawa, one of the handlers of the Hogosha Association organization structure presented to the assembly of people. "On behalf of the Association, I bid you welcome to the meeting, and convey my gratitude on coming in the midst of your busy schedules. I, Tokiomi Katagawa will be you mediating the procedures. I bid for everyone to take their seats." As everyone took their space, Katagawa began talking again. "Now, before we delve into the main points of the meeting, I ask if anyone wishes to add additional topics for our meeting that haven't been presented already." He receives a list from one of his staff, and begins to read it. Meanwhile, several Associates and minor syndicate observers took their seats on the edges of the room, eager to hear what new decisions would come out of the Hogosha Association heads. "Dewa, the points presented for today's meeting are: Current review of the Association, Syndicate operations partition and mediation, the Association financial situation, policy for Kusari business, and deliberating guidelines for operations abroad. Should any of those present wishes to add an issue for discussion, please do so now." Katagawa waits for the interventions of the Associates before proceeding. During that period, Hebishima returns to the Fisherman side, bringing a case with the optronic drives that the old man was waiting. The Fisherman receives them, and dismisses him back to his place, examining the contents. Hebishima retreats to the corner where the men of the Takarabune were seated, finding his colleague Hiraku Shimoe already with a bored look, with an expression begging "let me go home now" written all over his face. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - WesternPeregrine - 12-12-2014 Tokiomi Katagawa examined the room one more time, and was about to proceed to the next step when he noticed that the Fisherman was signaling his intention to talk to him. Receiving a nod of approval, the Fisherman gave out his suggestion. "I have heard that there are some syndicates who until now do not belong to the Association, and have increasingly expanded their operations into space and other areas. There are also rumors that the old Black Dragon Society are not so gone after all, and might be planning a comeback. I suggest that we give some consideration as to how the Association will deal with these situations. Most of the Association strength comes from having the majority of the Syndicates under it's banner. If too many groups remain outside of our grasp, or competing in our interests, it puts into question the reliability of the Association, I believe." The few whispers from the other groups confirmed that the existence of the other Syndicates wasn't that much of a news right now, and that there was some interest on how the Association would adapt to this new reality. Katagawa, slightly distressed, replied. " Now now, I believe a few Syndicates outside of our honorable Association, old or new, are not threatening to the Association goals and concept. I agree that we should reflect on how to work with these non-associates, at a general and individual level. The matter will be added to today's topics." RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - Sabru - 12-12-2014 Haruna suddenly waves her hand, looking a little impatient. "I think we should also discuss the many Ts people who work with the stinky junk peoples." Haruna suddenly leans over and whispers with Takao, before nodding and going quiet. Takao gently breathes in, eyes closed while contemplating, before opening her mouth to speak. "We have recently become aware of an organization purporting to be a new kusarian company. However, through admission by the company itself, it is found that this company has a link to KTA, which im sure you are all aware of what occurred relating to that company. Perhaps discussion on this matter would be worthwhile." Takao opens her eyes, glancing around the table looking every associate in the eyes. RE: The Elder Brother Island (//open to [HA] members) - WesternPeregrine - 12-13-2014 Katagawa took the new information to heart, assessing what was known about these companies, and how they tended to affect the Association with their works. "This is new information that your people bring to us, and it will be of interest of all that we dedicate some time to it later on. For now however, I would like us to start discussing on the current status of the Association. As you know, the Association has been formed by the group of widespread syndicates throughout Kusari. I believe this is the first meeting since the talks of the foundation. While a reputation has been established through the works of each syndicate, the Association as a whole has benefited from this efforts. Through diligent work, the Association now enjoys a privileged partnership with Samura Industries, with good pays in their projects, as well access to every installation in their control. We have also sought collaboration with the ALG operations in Frankfurt, to the benefit of our business in Rheinland, and to the benefit of our comrades in Corsair space. Lastly, we were granted access to an outpost in the Kepler system, which we could use to further improve our connections within Liberty through a middleman in Poena. In regards of law enforcement in Kusari, we have progressed little in our relationship with either the Naval Forces and the Kusari Police. The first because of the rather parallel line of work and interests, and due to ,what I believe to be, an element of suspicion towards their loyalties. The Kusari Police has shown a fickle existence in terms of space borne operations, which have not benefited or hampered our operations. On the other hand, there have been rumors that the Kempeitai has been working with several of our associates on various projects. While their cooperation is useful, don't forget that we are not the hounds of the state, and that such collaboration has to be profitable to us." Katagawa pauses for a while, before concluding his message. "I believe this is the general status of the our relationships with the outside. On the inside there has been little need to employ the mediation efforts of the Association, and operations apparently have ran smoothly to everyone. I would like to ask that each representative gave a general outline of their progress, so that we all may know the development of each syndicate. Actions and recommendations will be considered on the following topics." He said, giving the space for the next person to report. |
