Question for Igiss - Tenacity - 09-23-2008

Right now, discovery's timeline places us at 816 AS.

My question is... does 4.85's timeline jump ahead, and by how much? It could mess with a lot of player biographies and RP if we end up being in like 825 AS or something way out there.

If it's yet Undecided, I would suggest putting us at 817 AS with the release of that mod version. That way we feel like we're advancing somewhat, but not like we just jumped ahead several years with no real explanation.

1 year?

I think it would be somewhat more then that.

But I can see how it would mess with biographies. Although if you edit now, and write more in advance when you find out how many years it will be, you can make it work to your advantage.

:)

yea, but what i mean is... well let's take my own characters for example. Christopher Thorn, my Junker captain, is 38 years old. If this timeline suddenly jumps 10 years ahead... well i'm likely to be a crippled old man on the verge of death.

Aki Kimura, my order commander, is 24. She's supposed to be one of those younger types who gets ahead really well, but has a tendency to make brash decisions... if we suddenly jump 10+ years into the future, it changes all that.

Also, I've been planning on starting a day-by-day "personal log" for aki... but it would be quite odd for a log to suddenly go from 816 AS to 825 AS with nothing inbetween. Hey, where'd those 10 years go?

I just think one year advancement would be plenty, and wouldnt mess with currently-written bios.

you should take into account that Human life span would most likely be about 120, oh and even 48 today is not that old.

48 is old for someone who's in action a lot.

anyways, the human lifespan in freelancer isnt that great. The only people who live into their mid/late 100's are outcasts who have been on cardamine for the majority of their lives - it increases lifespan at the cost of fertility.

I always assumed that because Freelancer was in the future the Human life span would be a few years longer.

well, the "oldest human" in sirius is apparently like 170 or something, and he's an outcast don. From what I've heard, and this may be wrong... cardamine nearly doubles the normal human lifespan. That means most people are still probably living to 100 tops without cardamine's influence.

I believe it does increase in time yes...

I assume it will, I'm just saying it probably shouldnt increase by any drastic amount. A year or two is enough.
