Right now, no player is allowed to carry more than one ID in his cargo hold.

My suggestion is to ammend the Smuggler ID to include "Smuggler ID allows it's owner to carry additional un-mounted ID's in it's cargo hold"

Yes, it's illegal, but that's the point - any smuggler caught with more than one ID would be punishable in-RP by the local law enforcement (carrying 'fake' ID's, basically) - but this would allow a smuggler to 'set up' someone else with a new ID for a fee, lending more to the black market RP for sirius.

So basically, say someone wants to get into the ranks of a certain faction without actually being a member of that faction, they could contact a smuggler who could forge false identification papers (an ID) and sell the to the person in question. Of course, the person who gets the new ID must still follow proper equipment and ship rules for the faction ID he's now using.

Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. A forger of sorts.

Not sure how it would work though, we'd get massive sanction reports from newbies.

Extremely easily abused. If this were a small community of rule-abiding players, it'd work. But with our size, this would simply be abused. We'd have people reported twice as much as we have now, and anyone using an ID they aren't supposed to can simply say a smuggler got it for him and be off the hook, even if they didn't. IDs require such high rep as its meant to make you work for something, thereby usually meaning people who work hard enough to get the ID, treat their position more correctly, reducing the pvp whoring.

I'm gonna have to agree with Dab. Nice idea, but very, very, very easy to abuse. Plus, what about the new guard IDs that'll come out with 4.85? Imagine the abuse... :(

Yea I say its a wonderful idea. But as they said above, theres the abuse issue. On the otherhand, make it where the smuggler is only allowed to carry certain ID's.

I disagree with this proposal ... too tempting to swap the mounted ID for one of the others in your hold to avoid encounters with your enemies. Sorry ... 1 ship = 1 ID.

Well if you swap your id you go from a smuggler carrying contraband to a sanctionable person. well thats what I would think anyways.

You already are by carrying more than 1 ID.

Abuse alert ... we've already got people skirting the rule by mounting unlawful weapons on lawful ships and vice versa.

Essentially that means that as long as the smuggler has the "smuggler" id equipted they are in RP.

And I agree, I see it going a bit overboard with abuse. Maybe a different smuggler ID that would allow it.

Lets compare to the real world quick.....how the idea here most likely started...
You see on tv, the news, the internet, about some criminal having a fake ID, or fake passport, or even fake social security card. well, theres someone that actually makes them. The person most likely doesnt do it theirselfs nor just get it out of thin air.

Better yet, instead of changing the Smuggler ID, Have a whole new one called the Forger ID thats admin approved and issued. Only those that apply and have good enough RP skills get it.

You could do this now. It would be the most realistic rp out there. Example: smuggler careta more than one ID and sees someone in need of one. Sells it to that player. Another player witnesses this or just sees the smuggler with more than one and calls the authorities (see admins). Smuggler is caught and ends up in Bastille or worse.

See totally in rp and against the rules but doable NOW. Just be prepared to face the music when you get caught and you will get caught.
