First ping in CMD:

Ping statistics for 202.60.73.55:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 82ms, Maximum = 86ms, Average = 84ms

In Call of Duty:

In Xfire its similar but averages 600 to 850.
Is there are rhyme or reason behind this? All three round trips where within 10 seconds of eachother...

Something is seriously wrong somewhere.

Try cleaning the temporary internet files.

1. Whats the IP you are pinging
2. Server ping and local ping is different;)In COD that was the ping of the server, not you

I guess there was a bad latency with the server you were tryign to connect. Else, your internet connection would have been unsuccessful.

If I pinged myself if would be 1ms

I pinged CoD In CoD and it averaged 400 to 500

In my CMD, pinging the same IP that CoD gave me, I averaged 80.

This happens every day after school up to 6 or 6:30 at night and just stops. Very annoying. My ISP says they can't file for any kind...

Edited: Some node of your ISP or it's international lines may be malfunctioning.

Or, the game pings with a different packet-size (unlikely though.)

Kindred suggested my ISP had a cheap lease on the inter-continental pipes underneath the deep blue sea from New Zealand to Australia.

My friend pings Aussie servers at around 20=30ms, it has to be my ISP, but they insist there is nothing wrong.

Annoys me to death!

Oh... Try typing

tracert [IP]

if you see more than 9 entries, you are routed all around the world.

Confuzzled to the max - 13CentKiller - 09-26-2008

15 to be exact.

From NZ to Australia.

I'll do it again, in the timezone when it usually happens.

15 is already bad mate... Try the same command in the home of a friend with a different ISP...

I get 9 hops to Disco from Greece, 8 to Germany, and 12 to the US, across the Atlantic.
