WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - ScornStar - 09-28-2008

For me, the criuse rule, the retreat rule and criuser limitations. Discuss I'd like to see if anyone else has any thoughts on this.

The pvp rules could stand to be changed around a bit.

I dont think you should have to leave a system for four hours if you run from a fight, but I do think that you should not be allowed to re-engage anyone who was involved in the fight if you do run.

I do not think the capship piracy limitation should be removed, pirates dont need to be flying around in destroyers, cruisers, battlecruisers, carriers, battleships, etc. steamrolling traders. At least a decent trader can get away from a gunboat, occasionally, depending on the ships involved. Lawfuls using capships to stop smugglers is fine IMO, they're on their own turf defending it against people moving illicit cargo which is detrimental to the local population.

the retreat rule ( and as such the cruise rule ) - imo, we should place the responsibility upon the players to decide when its shield running and when its RP. - most players do have the responsibility...and only very few would exploit it. - of course such few can spoil the fun of others - but still.... i d like that rule to go.

I think the PvP rules could be changed a bit too, I like Tenacity's idea about retreating and still being able to re-enter the system. One other rule that I think could be changed too is the ID rule, maybe there should be a temporary ID (like Civilian ID) that allows you to use it above lvl. 40 so you can set up your character more quickly (AKA go get the ship you want and do missions until you have the necessary rep. to purchase the faction ID you want to get). However you would not be allowed to PvP, participate in faction events, etc.

Maybe the last idea is a stretch but I think the PvP rules should still be amended.

It should be stated that running more than some distance (5k - 8k?) from the fight is same as engaging cruise => you have to leave.

All you need to do is get a Trader ID or Mercenary ID, both available in Liberty. If you have enough cash to be over level 40, then neither ID is any problem.

and yet for some reason I still see level 80+ battleships with civilian ID's flying around sirius...

1. Tone down the anti-pirate rules a bit.

2. Remove the ship size limitation placed on mercenaries.

3. (Agreeing with ScornStar) get rid of the cruise rules.

4. Change re-engagement rules to simply say that you cannot re-engage for 4 hours ... staying or departing the system is irrelevant. They should just not be permitted to re-engage for 4 hours ... period.

I s'pose that's a good enough start.

Which ones?

Quote:2. Remove the ship size limitation placed on mercenaries.

If you were here in 4.83, you'd remember the happy times with Merc IDed Bretonian BSes flying in Gamma shooting a few BHG then a few Corsairs.... then a few BHG again, or Merc IDed BS taking bounties on fighters by starting to chat and park next to them... then blasting them with full salvo before they could react. "Bounty collected".. indeed.

Not to mention RH bombers with Infernos and Tizonas mounted "I'm a mercenary I work for everyone"

Always nice to use 10 mins to down a BS shield just to see it cruise away and return with full shield all over again..

So when a Rogue gets killed next to Westpoint, he will respawn at Buffalo and start pirating at the Texas TL, then when the lawfuls come here he will take the JH and move to westpoint to pirate again :yahoo:

Indeed

This really helps a lot..

Propose a change, with exact wording.
