Do you stricly enforce the 4 hour rule on yourself and others..? - Lupusy - 09-29-2008

You know that rule which says if you are killed in pvp you must not re-enter the system with any ship of yours for four hours? How strict are you with yourself and others..?

1) Super strict version: When you are killed by NPC OR PLAYER ship you are not allowed to re-enter system with any ship on your curreent account or any account whatsover using FL account manager. (Assuming people take the effort to find out all your ships?)

2) Less strict version: You only need to stay out of system for 4 hours if kiled by a player ship and then only if the player ship is still in system.

I think the actual rule is quite clear: "5.7 A player who was killed in a PvP fight must not enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours."

So you can actually return to the system if the enemy PLAYER ship leaves the system during the 4 hour period after your death.

But what do you do is he leaves and comes back within te 4 hours -- is he allowed to report you for a rule violation..? And -- what if you can see his name in system but need to poke your head into the system to find out precisely where he is?

Honestly, could not give a monkeys.

I'll stay out for four hours, if they want to come back in I could not care. I usually ask them not to re-engage me, and they usually do not. So everything remains peaceful.

I have the same thoughts here. Although most of the time when I kill somebody they log out, as do I.

EDIT: This may be in the wrong section as it pertains to Discovery RP server.

I have been warned for being killed, waiting till he left, and when he came back I avoided him. So be careful. I never did get a clear answer from the admins on that one. So err on the side of caution.

Also, if an NPC kills you and no players were around you can come back. that rule was put in to stop players from "loopholing" because the death messages didn't say he was killed by a player.

On myself, I just log off the character (or if I'm particularly irritated, the server). Easier to stay out of trouble that way.

On others, I really don't give a damn as long as they're not blatantly violating it - re-engaging after dying and the like.

As for your question at the end, I dunno.

This is the real version. The Super-strict version isn't correct.. If the player that killed you, and that inculdes anyone involved in the battle, leaves the system, you can reenter. However, if he reenters the system, its best if you leave it quickly. If he reports you for reentering the system after he comes back from leaving, than all you need to do is tell the admins he had left. To be safe about it, screenshot him being in a different system at the time. That way you have evidence to back yourself up when the accusations fly. However, its best just to find something else to do for 4 hours.

5.9 After a death in a PvP fight, players should switch to other characters (preferably with different role-playing status) for no less than 4 hours.

This is a good guide line.

14 char's, most from diff ZOI's. So i just swap to another char,or do some trading. It is only a game, and no need to get upset, or upset other's by riding the fine line of the rule's and coming back when they leave.
