General PvP Rules ok, let me set the scene, i'll try to be brief while attempting to touch on all the related facts. i was on Mon'Star the other night, doing what Mon'Star does. while in New Tokyo an undetermined number of ships came looking for me. the found me eventually and seeing as i was vastly outnumbered i took the only logical route, i ran. i ran with them hot on my heels, we went through...New Tokyo, Hiroshima, Oita, Virgina, and Colorado (this is were the pusuers got CD'd and fell back). i then proceded to Galileo, Cassini, Yukon, and finally stopped in Alberta. checking the scanners i saw that the adjacent systems were empty. at this time i thought to myself that i had successfully flown the coop. i flew to a safe spot and spoke to my group member for several minutes. i noticed a ship enter the system, seeing that it was not one of the ships pursueing me i thought nothing of it. now having an audience i began to RP....no response from the ship. once my Rp'ing had been completed it had been atleast 10 minutes since i had last had enemies in scanner range....or even in the same system. looking at the clock i could have slapped myself, it was after midnight and i had to get up in 5 hours for work. i then looked to see people in system, some of which were my pursuers from earlier. seeing as atleast 10 minutes had passed since my last interaction with them i concluded i was in the clear and i did as i have done before and Rp'd my departure, F1'ing out and logging. i thought nothing of it since such a long time had passed while i sat in space with noone but my group member in the system. until tonight i get a PM protesting my actions. so as to get an unbiased opinion, i ask the question. was i in the wrong? "Interacting" - chovynz - 09-30-2008 Were they on Scanners actively coming closer? if yes, then:(. If no, then it was fine. When is enough, enough? when the chasee, decides its enough by docking (or F1 out when theres no one around.) If they want to RP with you they need to let you know somehow and not be silent. I would hazard a guess that that protesting pm was just annoyed for some reason. If they werent Rping then theres nothing you (or they) can do about it. Of course the end aint up to me. "Interacting" - Baltar - 09-30-2008 Then I suppose F1 in space for anyone being pursued would be ok outside scanner range right? So lets say a smuggler is in Omicron 100 ... and one or more members of the Order (Bs| or independent Order) see you on long range scanners (chat box) but not yet in visual or on short range scanners. These Order vessel order you out of Omicron 100. You have a few words back and forth. Then you manage to find a nice spot far enough out where they'll never find you ... 10 minutes go by and they still have not found you. So ... I guess I can "cloak" ... "go to stealth mode" ... whatever you wanna call F1. So this is acceptable, right? EDIT: Oh ... forgot to quote this rule ... Quote:2. Cheating & Hacking "Interacting" - bearlee89 - 09-30-2008 "cloaking"/F1ing if your not in a combat situation. IE: being fired upon, or being chased with ANY chance of being caught/intercepted is BAD. If they haven't engaged/are not on scanners/ not in the same system or you are WAY far away and there is no possible chance in heck that they will find you, F1ing is....frowned upon, but not sanctionable (correct me if I'm wrong.) As for the rule, the "cloak" mentioned there is a modded tool item, or something of the sorts. In other words, it didn't come with the original freelancer/disco package. The cloaking he is talking about is strictly RP terms (and sometimes OORP.:P) "Interacting" - Baltar - 09-30-2008 Situation is an armada chasing Necrosis-[Mon'Star] all the way from Honshu to Alberta ... through multiple systems with multiple ships. Some ships on his tail while other ships trying to beat him to the other end. He finds his way to Alberta and gets trapped. Part of the armada has the jump hole from Alberta to Ontario covered ... some of these ships are actually inside Alberta. My vessel is in Yukon covering the jump hole between Alberta and Yukon. He's pinned in. He recognized he had no escape. There are no ports or planets to dock with. His only way out is to go through one of two jump holes and thus engaging his pursuers. Instead ... he chose to F1 to avoid the entire encounter. He destroyed 2 vessels during the hour long encounter. The entire chase was role played well ... us pinning him into Alberta was role played well. We were in the process of initiating a search of Alberta now that we had the jump holes blockaded. Too bad Mon'Star chose to avoid being caught. Because the only way to get away was to encounter someone. But then ... F1 is such an appropriate and efficient way to avoid the whole scenario. This entire server is loosing it. We accept the "special" characters ... those with mixed ships/equipment/IDs ... but we attack those who are playing it straight. People are stretching role play to suit their own victories. Note Dreygon's (aka Mon'Star) post in his personal thread ... he's boasting about his escape. Wake up people. EDIT: Ok folks ... take a look at this sanction thread occurring as we speak. We must live in the Twilight Zone. Note Dreygon's (aka Mon'Star) post in his personal thread ... he's boasting about his escape. yes Mon'Star is boasting, one of his more obvious character flaws. as for the sanction you posted, it would seem that the characters involved in the sanction were within scanner range. Mon'Star had not been within scanner range for 10+ minutes. When i logged off i was over 40k from anything. my thoughts are that enough time and space happened in between interactions to make the chase null and void. "Interacting" - Dieter Schprokets - 09-30-2008 Just throwing this out there.. Eventually, one must sleep. Is he supposed to find someone to kill him? "Interacting" - Fellow Hoodlum - 09-30-2008 Baltar, your sanction report was a story, with one screenshot, no one on radar ... What do you want us to do? And getting into PMs because the report is not dealt with in under five minutes ? Get real. No action is going to be taken on this one now ... BUT, and its a big one, if anything happens like this again, and if we receive reports basically on the strength of a chase in which the end didn't go as planned, we will sanction everybody. That is all, now move on everyone. Hoodlum |
