Feedback on potential PC purchase - Gypsie Skripto - 02-22-2015

I am being offered the following PC:

Processor: AMD FX 6300 3.5 Ghz six core
Cooler: Xigmatek Loki II disipator
Video Card: MSI R7 265 OC 2GB DDR5
Memory: Crucial 4GB DDR3 4GB 1600
Hard Drive: Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM
Case: Silverstone Redline 01
Source: Silverstone Strider 500W 80 Plus

It includes win 7

I want this PC for gaming and video editing. Is any of these parts crap? Coz by dropping some more money I can change em. Also, isnt that too low of a RAM memory? Will Star Citizen run on it?

Thanks in advance!

23s

Gyp

To run great games on PC right now you need at least 8 GB of RAM. I can't give you more advice as i have intel core and geforce graphics card......

Yeah I was wondering why they offered me so high specs on everything but ram...

Processor: AMD FX 6300 3.5 Ghz six core
I've heard this part sucks. If you can afford it, grab the '8 core' one.

defo at least 8 gig minimum for gaming and video editing, dont scrimp on the ram, the ram helps feed the cpu and graphics card, also yes if you can get the 8 core

eg

my friend has same ram and graphics card as me, but has an 8 core i have a 4 core, in bf4 he gets double frames per second, just because of his 8 core

I asked the guy for 8 core and 8 GB and the price goes up by 100 USD which is somthing that I can afford with a little extra effort. The motherboard supports both 4gbx2 or 8gb x2 and seeing how the 8x2 costs 90 USD more than the 4x2 I will be going for that which I guess is fine so far and update to 8gbx2 when Star Citizen comes out.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Hey there.

I recently bought the 6300 Black and found that it had HUGE problems with low-tier motherboards. The thing is marketed as a 95w CPU, while in reality it can go up to 140w. Please invest in a very good mobo, otherwise thermal throttling will be a huge issue. This also means that you need a cooler with a top-down blow, rather than a sideways one, as you need to keep the mobo cool as well.

Ye that case has a top down cooler afaik. I was told that Asus motherboard was a rock. U think it wont be able to handle the fx8320 processor? I'll look into it

Best way to find out how good it is, just enter FX8320 and X motherboard and see what comes up regarding problems and questions about fixing something.
